FREYA
“WAKE UP…” A voice said to me. “Wake up.” The voice repeated, firmer this time, and I roused from my slumber. I realised that it was my wolf. Ever since our mate rejected us, she had gone completely silent, and it pained me and made me feel more alone. I didn’t know how to communicate with her as she shut me out, all because of the twins. Was this how the moon goddess had planned my life? To be full of misfortune? I had lost my virginity to my mate only to be rejected and banished the next morning. Everything didn’t make sense and at the same time made enough sense. I sat up, feeling a dazzling headache. I reached up and touched my head. I felt a jolting pain as my hand brushed a huge bump on my forehead. I sighed and managed to go to a cheap motel for the night. “We don't accept your kind here,” the woman behind the counter said as soon as I walked in. I didn't blame her. I caught a sight of my reflection in the mirror, and I would accept someone like me either. “Please, ma'am…” I said, carefully brushing my hair away from my face. “I said we don't,” suddenly the woman froze as she gazed at me. “What is your name?” She asked. “Freya,” I answered. “Freya Walter.” She handed me a key without saying a word and shook her head when I tried to pay for the room. It was strange, but I did not think about it too much. The room was worse compared to the shelter I stayed in at the park house, but I had no other option than to manage it. I sat on the spring bed, which creaked very loudly as fresh tears welled in my eyes. I let myself cry because I was hurt and even worse, my wolf had taken to herself. Of course the twins would never see me any differently than a slave. I was the stupid one who let the mate bond cloud my judgement for them. All that would change soon; tomorrow I’ll leave the city, and it’ll be for good. At least I was no longer going to be a slave for anyone. I had managed to survive at the park house with the two wicked Alphas. I’m sure I could survive anything that came my way. Going to bed hungry, I slept off knowing a new journey would begin for me the next day and hopefully the moon goddess would be more kind to me from here on. My grumbling tummy woke me up, and when I opened my eyes, I realised it was morning. Soon I’ll be asked to leave the motel. I am sure the woman just gave me the night out of charity. Avoiding unnecessary embarrassment, I took my little belongings and headed downstairs to check out of the motel. I was faced outside with a fleet of expensive cars and a large crowd. It made me wonder what was going on and which important person would come to such a lowly motel as this. “Miss Freya?” A man dressed in a black suit asked me politely, tilting his head to the side as he accessed me. He then stepped aside to let a middle-aged woman come forward. She looked at me from head to toe, then she turned and looked at the owner of the motel. She smiled and nodded. “What is going on?” I managed to fund my voice. “Your scent. It smells just like... are you Luna Freya?”. A woman who looked like she was in her mid-thirties asked as she kept sniffing me with wide eyes. “Yes, I’m Freya. Is there a problem?”. I asked as my heart began to race. Could it be that Alpha twins had sent these people to look for me? Why were they here? "Oh, thank the moon goddess! We’ve finally found you. Our Luna! We have found our Luna!”. The woman exclaimed, hugging me tightly as tears flowed from her eyes. Immediately everyone around knelt down, bowing their heads to me. Everything felt strange and unbelievable. They didn’t look like the people who came from Alpha Nicholas and Nicklaus Pack, so who were they? “Who are you?”. I asked politely, staring at all the bowed heads who looked like they had been blessed to meet the moon goddess herself. “Oh child, I’m your great aunt. If only you knew how far we’ve searched and for how long we’ve been looking for you. You are the Luna to all these people. They are your people. We are your people. There was an unfortunate attack on our pack years ago that claimed the lives of your parents, and then you disappeared. For years we have been going from one park to the other to look for you." The woman said to me, smiling as she wiped her tears. “Y.. you are my aunt?”. I asked the woman sceptically as joy soared in my heart. For years I had forgotten about what a family felt like. I didn’t even think I had aunts, uncles, or anyone. The only people I had ever known were the twins. I didn’t hesitate any longer as I followed my aunt back to our pack. The pack house was one of the most beautiful houses I had ever seen. It was a castle, and almost everything in it was gold. She explained to me how the fight that claimed my parents had started and how my mother had saved her life. “Your mother was married to my brother. I remember clearly that day how it had happened. We were all defending our pack when I got attacked, and your mother swooped in to save me. She died trying to protect me and made me promise I would take care of you. After the dust had settled, you were nowhere to be found. We never found a body, so I never stopped searching for you. My brother’s child." My aunt said to me with love as tears clouded her eyes. I couldn’t help the tears that flowed from mine as I felt overwhelmed hearing how brave my parents were and how they had defended their pack. To think I was an Alpha’s daughter who has been living the life of a slave for years. “How did you find me?”. I asked curious. “Our pack is one of the most powerful. We send spies all around to look for you. I still wonder how they had not been able to fish you out all these years. The motel owner, Patty, is one of us. She gave me a call last night that someone that looks exactly like your mother wandered into the motel, and it was also brought to our attention that a woman with the moon birthmark had just been banished from a pack. I only know of one woman with a birthmark of the moon, and that’s you. So we put two and two together.” She narrated with a heavy sigh. “My brother was so excited when he found out that the moon goddess had blessed you with the mark when you were born. I felt it was worth tracking you, and perhaps if the goddess was so merciful, it would be you, and truly it was you." She continued, scanning my face. “What happens now?”. I asked her, feeling a little nervous. “You are the rightful Luna and deserve to rule your people, but it won’t be so easy. For years since you were not here, powers had shifted. In order to claim your rightful place as Luna, you have to marry the man who’s to become the next Alpha of our pack." She explained. The thought of marrying someone made me feel uneasy. My wolf for one flexed her muscles and growled at the thought of having another male who wasn’t our mate touch us. What would she have me do? It wasn’t my fault our mate rejected us. ‘Perhaps they’ll accept us now if they know who we are." My wolf said, but I ignored her. “Who am I to marry?” I asked my aunt boldly. For years I had been used and abused. This was my one chance to gain power and be treated right, and I wouldn’t let it slip by. This pack belonged to my father, and I’d be damned if I didn’t become Luna. "You'll be meeting in due time. For now, please get some rest. Your maids will be on standby for whatever you need." My aunt said, dismissing herself from my presence, as I fell into deep thinking about who this cousin of mine was. NICHOLAS “Do you think that what we did to Freya was right?” I asked my brother the moment we entered the car heading to the office for a meeting. For a moment he was silent, and then he suddenly responded. “You said it yourself, brother. Freya is a maid who doesn't deserve to be married to us. She cannot be our Luna,” he responded to me grumpily, like he always would. I frowned. I knew that she wasn't fit, but there should be an exception since she was our mate. It isn't as if Lydia was fit either. “Fine, then let's work towards settling down with our respective fiancees.” I said to Nicklaus, and the next thing I heard was a loud bang on the window; the glass shattered into pieces. “Whoa, calm down, brother. It was on my suggestion. It's fine if you do not want to. But I'll tell you this: we'll have to settle down very soon. If we truly want our pack to stand strong against others. We'll need a Luna and an heir,” I explained to him, but he was too focused, staring at his bleeding fist. “You do not have to worry about that, brother. I already spoke with a few packs; we're getting many alliances soon. We also have a meeting scheduled with some. I will put our pack's wellness in mind; we do not need to get married to achieve that,” Nicklaus explained to me. I knew exactly what was going on with him. He'd been heartbroken before. Nicklaus despised women so much he didn't plan to settle down. It wasn't the same for me, but I was hasty about it; we have to start a family soon. The car soon halted in front of our companies; a phone call distracted Nicklaus as he got down from the car, while I also got down and focused on attending the meeting. “He'd join us later.” I said, waving at his secretary, who stood right outside the entrance waiting to receive us.FREYAToday marked it one month, three days, five hours, and twenty minutes since I had been welcomed into my pack. My wedding with the soon-to-be Alpha was still on hold as I needed time to catch up with a lot of things. I needed to know my people more deeply, and thankfully my aunt was so supportive and assured me it was fine.Lately, I had taken to having abnormal morning sickness and could hardly hold my food down. It has become worse, and today I was going to see the pack doctor. A knock on my door distracted me from my thoughts as I whispered for whoever was knocking to come in.“I brought you a special herbal tea. Still feeling nauseous?”. My maid Sally asked me as she served me the herbal tea.Sally was a beautiful and kind lady. I didn’t really see her as a maid but more as a friend. She had been taken into the packhouse ever since she was little, and I could relate very well to that. When I heard her story, I immediately made her my personal maid and made sure to cut off all

However, them taking me in didn’t mean I got to be treated special; in fact, I was treated way worse than the maids here. They hated me completely!“Our Mate is handsome,” my wolf said, but I ignored her, trying my best to block her away. She didn’t know anything about the two men who stood in front of us and how they hated us. This wasn’t how I had imagined my mate would show up. “You’re our mate."
