—Lena— “Shift,” Killian commands. My bones instantly obey, cracking again, even the broken ones, snapping back into place. For a few seconds, the pain dims everything. Am I going to pass out? Oh, please, let me just fade away. Too soon, my shifter healing kicks in, and I’m snatched back from darkness. I can’t escape. My wolf mewls for him. Help. His lip curls in disgust, but his eyes flicker blue to gold. “Stand up,” he snarls. I can’t. I don’t have the strength, and everyone will see everything. “Stand up, or I’ll drag you up.” Killian growls a warning. It’s a question. You dare defy me? Summoning every scrap of energy I have left, I roll to my stomach and push up on my good knee. I can’t just stand; my bad leg won’t let me. I stagger to my feet, exposing my butt, my belly, the wicked scars on my thighs and calves. The shame scalds as hot as fire. "I, Alpha Kelly, Rejec
—Lena— "What are you doing here?" I asked him, still smiling. In case you are wondering who Jeremy is, he's the one who took Kate and I told the hospital when I was losing my baby. We later found out that he was the alpha of the Crescent wolf pack and also the CEO of Lex Crescent Corp, a multi national company. After he took me and Kate to the hospital that day, he continued to help us. He helped us find a house and also enroll in law school. He's been a really great friend, and as of five months ago my boyfriend. "I knew what today was and I didn't want you to be alone." He says, smiling down at me. Oh goddess, what did I do to deserve such a sweet man. "You're the best." I tell him. He smirks, "I know, now come on get in, I freed up my day so we can do anything you want today." I get in the car. "Really anything I want." He takes my hand and kisses it. "Yes, my love anything you want." I laugh. "You are so
—Killian— "Why shouldn't we say her name, when it's clear to anyone with half a brain that you're still in love with her. Have you already forgotten how she betrayed you? How she slept with another man? And got pregnant with his child? And I'm pretty sure she has moved on….." Before she can utter another word I rush towards her and grab her by the neck. She groans in pain but she doesn't back down. "I've been the one here with you all these years, I've stood by your side through everything, but still you don't let me in, why Killian why, how am I so different from my sister." She cries out. "How are you different from your sister? The difference is that I loved your sister. I have no such feelings towards you. And the next time you talk to me with such disrespect I will not hesitate to rip out your tongue." I snarl at her and throw her on the ground. She cried as she watched me walk away. I walk out of the elevator with a grim look on m
—Lena— I was waiting outside the ice cream parlor for Jeremy and I had this feeling that someone was watching me, but when I looked around I didn't see anybody. Jeremy comes out of the store and he must see the worried look on my face. "Lena, are you okay? Did something happen?" Not wanting to worry him plus I'm not sure if somebody was actually watching me. "No, nothing happened, I'm fine just feeling tired." "Oh, ok then let's get you home." He says still looking worried. I feel bad for lying to him because I know he cleared his whole day just to be with me today. "No, I don't want to go home yet, you cleared your whole day for me, i want to stay with you." He smiles, looks down at me and caresses my cheek. "Ok then how about we go to my place and I make us dinner and you can just put your feet up and relax. How does that sound?" I put my arms around his neck and kiss him. "That sounds great." So we walk down the s
—Lena— Jeremy dropped me off at home the next day, but he couldn't stay because he had an important meeting to attend. As I walk into my home, I keep staring at my ring. I can't believe I'm engaged, I'm so happy I never thought I would get to a place where I could be happy again. I walk into the living room and call out Kate's name but she doesn't answer. She must be at the firm already. I get ready for work and drive to the firm. As I'm about to head into my office, Eric yanks my hand toward him so fast my body jerks forward, crashing into his. “Oh-em-gee,” Eric screeches like a hyena on crack. “Lena, this is a Harry Winston princess-cut diamond. I need a total replay. What were you wearing? What was he wearing? The speech… oh, did he get down on one knee?” Catching his breath he sits on the chair, crossing his legs in anticipation. I replay the entire night to him and even re-enact the proposal part. Kate walks
—Lena— Me and Kate finally arrive home and I'm still in shock Killian is really here in New York. And the nerve of him trying to apologize after all these years, after everything that's happened. Kate places her hand on my shoulder. "Hey, are you okay?" I turn around and smile reassuringly at her. "Yea I am, just a little shaken up. He took me by surprise." "Should we tell Jeremy?" Kate asks. "No, I don't want this causing problems between the two packs. Now that he knows I'm with Jeremy he'll leave me alone." Kate looks at me with doubt in her eyes. "Fine if he doesn't leave me alone I'll tell Jeremy. But right now I just want to focus on the charity dinner next week." —Killian— I sit at the table trying to concentrate on the business meeting. It’s impossible. I need to take care of things, and my mind has questions that require answering. How the fuck did this happen? Out of all the places in
—Lena— We arrive at the ball at six on the dot. The street is crowded, lined with limousines and luxury vehicles worth more than my apartment. Flashes are going off right, left, and center. The paparazzi are scurrying around like rats up a drainpipe snapping away at those who pose on the red carpet. As we walk through the large doors, we’re blown away by the sight of it all. The grand ballroom is enormous. Its size big enough to hold all of the elite in New York City and then some. The tall ceilings are covered in rows of draped sheer organza fabric, creating a medieval feel with a modern twist. A large chandelier hangs from the middle, its crystals reflecting the light which shimmers on the dance floor. Scattered across the room are artificial trees with the branches draped in fairy lights. We sit ourselves down as Jeremy places his arm around my chair, drawing me in closer. He smells fantastic. “You look amazing tonig
—Killian— I spent the short limousine ride chatting with Brooke. It turns out she’s the daughter of one of the politicians from Long Island. Great, just what I need, more media scrutiny. Adriana sure knows how to pick them. We arrive at the ball, red carpet swarming with paparazzi. We follow the crowd, hoping to avoid the craziness. Unfortunately, I’m not so lucky. “Mr. Kelly, over here,” one of the paparazzi yells. I take my cue, posing, then the media frenzy follows. The bulbs keep flashing, blinding my normally perfect vision. "Killian, who are you wearing?” “Are you and Brooke Henley an item?” “Is it true the Kelly Group is in a bidding war to buy—?” Adriana shakes her head with annoyance and impatiently drags me into the building. I scan the room, bored with the conversation between Brooke and her mother about dresses and designers. Across the ballroom, I notice a young guy checking me out, making it bla
EPILOGUE.A YEAR LATER.AUTHORS POV. I know you're all probably wondering, a year time skip is too much, but don't worry I'll catch you up. After the funeral, the council of Alpha's met to decide on Jeremy, Elijah and Elena's punishment. It was decided that they would all be spell bound and banished. Spell bound in the sense that their abilities as shifters would be locked away by a spell and only the witch or warlock that put the spell on them would be able to unlock it. So that's what happened and every shifter in the world, hell every supernatural creature was informed of what they did so they wouldn't be getting any help. Also Killian reported Jeremy's businesses and they were all shut down. Elijah begged for a second chance with Adriana but she refused. Slowly but surely everyone was healing from the loss of that day and it also helped that Will amd Luna were back, bringing much needed joy and light into their lives. Now I know some of you are confused,
—Lena— A Few Days Later. The pack was in mourning, yes we won the war, but that didn't mean that they weren't any casualties. All together we lost about thirty shifters but we all know it would've been worse if we didn't have the cure. We had two days to mourn and today we were going to have a mass burial. Here's how everyone in the house is doing, Kate hasn't left her room in days, and I cam hear her cries and screams through the walls, but she won't let anyone in and I completely understand. Killian is being the strong Alpha that he is but I know he's hurting, but in this moment he needs to be strong for his people. We've barely spoken two words to each other, I mean what could we possibly say that would make sense of what just happened. He did leave Jeremy alive though, Jeremy, Elijah and Elena are currently down in the dungeons waiting for a decision from the council of Alpha's on how to deal with them. Iannis, Eric and Kat have been going round hel
—Killian— I was right, I can finally flip shift again. The first time I did it after we left the wedding, the feeling was euphoric, the split second that it took meant everything. The ferals were way more than I expected but it didn't matter, our numbers were still more than theirs. Lachlan and I had been separated but I knew he was fine, it wasn't easy curing the ferals when all they wanted to do was kill us. It felt good being able to shift again, one second I was my wolf and the next I was back to being human. But I still hadn't found the one person I was looking for, where the hell was he? He was the one controlling them, so he couldn't be far. I was done taking care of the feral on my side and the men were taking them to safety. “Jeremy! Don't be a coward, stop sending your lackeys and come and face me yourself!” I shout out as I continue walking around, searching for him. “Don't worry, I'm not going to use the cure on you, it's going to be the cold
—Lena— “Where exactly do you think you're going to?” Missy asked me as I was about to leave the building. “You heard me right? I'm going to find her son.” I told her. “You can't go out there alone Lena.” She tells me. “Is that actual worry that I hear in your voice Missy? Don't worry about me; I can take care of myself; you stay here and make sure that everyone gets down there.” I tell her. “No, Celia can handle that, I'm coming with you.” She tells me I don't have the time to argue with her; I need to find the woman's son. “Fine, let's go.” I tell her and then we both leave the building. “She said he was just with her so he couldn't have gotten far.” I tell her. “Yeah, that's true, but he's still a kid; they wander off pretty fast once something catches their attention.” Missy tells me. “Why don't we split up, we'll be able to find him faster.” I tell her. “Not going to happen, you might
—Killian— A loud alarm sounds, and it can only mean one thing: they're here. Using my Alpha voice, I address the crowd. “Everyone calm down. We have prepared for this, and we all know what to do; if we panic, it isn't going to help. All the women and children start making your way down to the passageways.” I instruct them and then I turn to look at Lena. “Make sure everyone is safe and that the boundary spell is up before you come and meet us.” I tell her. “I know, you be safe out there, he's going to come straight for you.” She tells me. “Well, he's going to be in for a huge surprise.” I tell her, when we marked each other, I felt something shift in me and I finally feel like my former self, I haven't tried it out but I'm very sure that I cam flip shift again. “I'll see you soon.” She tells me and then she picks up her dress and runs into the house with Kate, Adriana and Kat following behind her. Lachlan comes to stand by my side with Iannis an
—Lena— We walk down the stairs, to the back patio doors that lead into the clearing. Adriana and Kat go out first when the violin starts playing. “Alright, this is it, once you step out, there's no going back.” Kate tells me. “I know that Kate, I'm ready.” I tell her. “Alright then, we just have to wait for your dad. Oh, there he is.” Kate says as my dad walks in and he has tears in his eyes as he looks at me. “Oh, my baby girl, you look so beautiful.” He tells me, and I can't help the tears that also well up in my eyes; my father doesn't get emotional all the time. “Thank you, Dad.” I tell him as he stands by my side and puts my hand through his. Kate nods at the two of us, and then she walks out; we wait a few minutes and then me and my dad walk out, and I can't help that I stop walking the moment we step outside because the crowd gathered here is more than I expected. “It's ok, Lena, don't focus on them; focus on the one perso
—Lena— The next day, we kind of slept in and by the time we got up and got ready for the day, it was already eleven in the morning, the perfect time to start brunch if I do say so myself. The guys had left, none of them telling us where they were going to, so we had the house to ourselves. When I walked downstairs the kitchen had been transformed and I'm not just talking about the decorations, I'm talking about the food spread that Kate had on the counter, there was a fruit board and a cheese board that was so beautifully arranged I was scared to touch it. “Oh Kate, this all looks amazing.” I tell her. “Well, I'm glad you like it. We have a massage scheduled in the next thirty minutes and after that, mani pedis. So everyone here's your drink.” She said as she handed a glass of mimosas to me ans Kat buy just orange juice for Adriana. We took the glass, got into our robes and walked into the living room where the tables had already been set up for the massage
—Lena— Iannis places the bowl in the middle of the table and then all three of them hold hands and start chanting, at first nothing happens and then the liquid in the bowl starts to swirl, it starts slowly first and then it gets so fast that it starts ti form a whirl pool and then there's a blinding bright light all over the bowl and then they stop chanting, the light disappears and the liquid stops swirling. “So I take it that blinding light means that it worked?” I asked them. “Hell yes it worked. Finally.” Eric sighed. In fact there was a sigh of relief all around the room. “Eric, Iannis, Kat, Bertha. I don't know how to even thank you guys for this. You have gone above and beyond. Thank you so much.” Killian tells them and I can tell that he's emotional in that moment. “Killian's right, thank you for this.” I tell them. “No thanks necessary, this was my mistake to fix.” Iannis said. “So what happens next, the liquid in that bowl is
—Lena— It's currently a night to the fourth day, for the past three days, the tension in the pack was palpable, it was like a fuse that was getting ready to blow. Everyone was doing what was asked of them, after the first day, Eric, Kat and Iannis didn't even bother to come back to the house, they'd all been holed up in the cabin, only just sending the occasional text when they needed something and then one of us would go and get it for them. Killian, Lachlan and Kate spent most of their time in the training centre while Adriana and I focused on getting the passageways ready and also planning the mating ceremony. Kate was the one who insisted on this but now she was too busy to help not like I'm blaming her or anything but it was her idea to have something big. If it was left to me, I would just put on a gown and get everything over with. But my mother offered to help me and I gladly accepted, plus it was a good distraction for her. But finally, everything was rea
