EP 4: Preparation

In deep of the forest in northern area of the city people were gathered for a celebration. Some knew what was going to happen when some did not.

People were overjoyed since they were to get their mother, the queen, the Luna for their pack who was going to take care of everyone and even help their Alpha in taking care of some matters to the extent. It was truly a happy day for everyone… or that was the way it was supposed to be.

Sadly, it was different… because the chosen Luna by the Moon Goddess was not the one Alpha Adolf wanted. It would be better to call the ceremony as ‘Rejection Ceremony.’

Since Maryn was here, she didn't get to see much around the place but today, she could say that this place was so beautiful. Who could think in deep of the forest, there could be such a place unknown to the outside world…

In a White Ivory lace applique ball gown with the 'not-so-high' heels she looked so breathtakingly gorgeous. But her emotions couldn't play along, Maryn had no joy in her face.

Seated on the chair, she looked at the outside from the window. Her eyes were cold and emotionless, she was like a doll moving according to the maids instruction. There were maids making her ready for the ceremony that was going to start soon later today.

Unlike all the bride's, she was not excited at all. As she was staring at the mirror, the incident from last night knocked at her door again.

Upon closing her eyes, she could still remember what he told her last night in that indifferent tone of his. “You can leave this place as much as you wish. Accept my rejection on the ceremony tomorrow and then you are all free.”

“What if I don’t…”

“If you want to run away from here without accepting it then DREAM ON!!!”

What did he mean by ‘dream on’, she could not understand until she tried running away again. All her efforts were for nothing but went in water. At last, she stopped trying.

Since there was no effect, she left it like that. Maryn was just waiting for the ceremony to end and then she would leave, finally. She had no idea though what was exactly going to hurt her but for some unknown reason, even thinking that he was going to reject her for another woman, was making her blood boil in rage. But what could she do? When she was only a mere human and he was… Well, she did not see him in other form yet.

Sigh!

Some girl’s chattering and laughter got into her ears, only then she felt like everyone was happy for her sufferings. Those mocking gazes towards her, their jealousy and hostility towards her were clearer like the ocean. She did not need to tell how they seemed so happy that she was going to be rejected.

Surely, since her supposed mate did not want her how could she expect anybody to respect her? Since morning, she had been hearing all sorts of gossips and she got to understand it that Adolf was in some high position for sure.

'It's just a rejection ceremony, yet they are acting like it's a marriage. How annoying!'

“You look so beautiful…” Suddenly a soft female voice spoke up in an appreciative tone from her behind. Turning around as she saw the lady's face, her face was slightly lit up. The lady introduced herself with a genuine smile lingering on her face. “I am sorry, I did not introduce myself yet. I am Kimberly Lincoln, you can call me Kim. I am Adolf’s sister.”

“Thank you.” Maryn heard that Adolf had a sister but this was the first time she saw her. Kimberly seemed to have a radiant smile always on her lips. She had fair skin and delicate face, her hazel eyes were the most beautiful, from head to toe she had an elegant and classic look.

In a strapless ball gown, she spread the demeanour of classy and modern enthusiasms.

Maryn noticed that the moment Kimberly appeared in the room, all the gossipers were gone and the room fell silent. Surely, they would not dare to do that in front of the Alpha’s sister.

It was time to start the ceremony. Maryn was accompanied by Kimberly and some girls. Since nobody introduced everyone to her, she didn't know anything about them. The only thing she knew was that they were his people.

When they were walking, Maryn suddenly stopped on her track. Kimberly noticed it and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Getting no response from her, Kimberly followed the direction she was looking at. A yellow haired woman had her hand wrapped around Adolf’s arms and he did not even seem to be slightly bothered. Next to him was standing Matrix and Andrew. They seemed to smile and chat happily.

Who was that woman? She wondered.

“She is Linda.” Kimberly’s soft low pitched voice pulled her out of her trance. Maryn kept her eyes down as soon as she heard the name. She could guess who that woman was. “Is she the one he… he is…”

Kimberly bit her lips, feeling bad for Maryn she answered, “Yeah, my brother has… chosen her to be… to be his mate.”

‘Mate.’ Maryn remembered how did she felt when she heard that word and specially when she met him for the first time. Now, it all felt cruel to her, she felt as if someone was betraying her. She just met him and he was going to give her ‘pain’ and nothing else. She did not know what was mate all about in their world but in her human world, mate meant your significant other, your better half, your soulmate.

So how could he hurt her when they just met? She found it ridiculous.

Seeing the yellow haired woman to touch Adolf’s cheek and giving him a peck, suddenly she felt a burning sensation in her chest, she felt her veins stiffening and something hard to control. For a moment Kimberly saw so much anger in her eyes but then it vanished. Did she mistake it? She wondered.

“Our Lu… I mean Miss Armstrong is here…” Matrix asserted.

Though everyone looked at her, Adolf was too busy staring at Linda. Walking towards the hall, Maryn could see so many people gathering. She assumed they were the pack members.

Lily told her small things she guessed as she knew there was no way she could know it all without anybody telling her the slightest. But she could only guess it, there was no remembrance of Lily telling her about them.

“The ceremony is about to begin.” An elder shouted out and the crowd screamed in joy which more looked like they were mocking Maryn that she was about to get rejected and thrown out.

"Oh our future Luna, Alpha will reject that human girl and announce you as our pack's Luna. We can't wait for it."

Maryn clenched her fists as she heard a group of girls making such a comment.

On the other hand, as Maryn stood on Adolf’s opposite his eyes suddenly glimmered up. Adieu jumped in excitement, “Our mate is the most beautiful woman I've ever seen. So beautiful like an angel!” She was a mere human but her beauty surpassed every female standing out there. He did not know when did he let go of Linda’s hand and his eyes were only fixed at Maryn who had her eyes down.

Apart from her dress that she wore, her beautiful wavy long bronde hair fell gracefully on her back when some strands of her hair fell on her face making a little mess. She had light make-up on her face which could barely be noticed yet the make-up artist had to be praised for such a skill. She was wearing a beautiful pendant that was given to her by someone important to her.

Unable to take his eyes off of her, Adolf felt like he was possessed. His jaw dropped and his hand uncontrollably wanting to take in her scent. He did not notice when did he walk towards her.

"We are lucky that she is our mate. You better not reject her. I won't accept it!" Adieu warned him fiercely.

Suddenly Adolf stopped himself, Adieu disgruntled and he got his control over his wolf. No, this could not be. This was the second time; his wolf took control over him. Adolf stood still when Maryn was standing opposite him.

Maryn just wanted to get out of this place, she wanted it all to finish it as soon as possible. ‘Ten more minutes, I can leave.’

A weird music pierced through her ears all of a sudden which she presumed to be the starting of the ceremony.

“Raise your head and look at me.” She heard Adolf to say so.

Maryn did as she was told. She looked straight into his eyes; she would let him see that she did not give a damn. So what? It was not like she loved him anyway…

She would just leave but then what were those strange emotions she felt the moment their eyes collided?
