****Bryce's POV ****
I had a lot of work to attend to at the office as usual, but then the thought of one person made it easier for me to start and finish my day happily, and there was no one else but Avy. She was like the light that brightens my day. Meeting her was the best thing that happened to me.
Some days, I can't help but think of her and imagine having her for my wife. I know my mom will be shocked, but I'm going to be as patient as I can. When the right time comes, I will not hesitate to make her mine.
I was so lost in thought, thinking about Avyannna when I heard a knock on my door.
“Yes?” I uttered, and then, the door to my office gradually flew open, and my secretary walked in abruptly.
“Sir, there's someone who wants to see you,” she said.
“Who?” I asked with a creased brow.
“She wouldn't tell me her name, but she said it's urgent to see you. I've tried walking her out but, I'm afraid, she's quite stubborn. I wanted to use the security on her, but then I only want to do that with your permission.”
I shut my eyes for a moment. Who could that be trying to disturb the peace of my company so early? I opened my eyes slowly, and lazily said, “do what you must, then.” But then, I thought about whom it might actually be.
“Wait, you know what Angela, let her I'm I need to see for myself who this person is.”
“But Boss, what if she's -”
“You don't have to worry about me. Trust me, I can handle it.” I said, cutting her off.
“Okay, boss,” with that, my secretary left the door.
In more than a minute, I heard a light knock on my door. At the sound of the knock, I could tell that it wasn't my secretary.
“Come in,” I uttered.
The door slowly flew open, and someone walked in. With the heels making sounds on the tiled floor, I confirmed that it was actually a woman.
Slowly, I raised my head up, and to my utmost surprise, it was none other than an old friend I hadn't seen in a while.
“Louisiana, what are you doing here?”
“Hello, Bryce, I've missed you,” she said with a smile, putting me on the edge.
“When did you get back?” I asked with curiosity.
“Well, I came back a week ago. You have no idea the stress it took me to find out where you actually work,” she said, walking towards my desk slowly.
“And how did you find out?”
Louisiana took a quick glance in my direction.
“Jeez! Relax, Bryce, it's not like I came to woo you or something.”
“I didn't mean that. Just wanted to know how you found my company.”
“Well, I met a friend of yours, who is also mine. I asked about you, and he gave me your company card,” she said as she took out the company's complimentary card and waved it at me with a smile on.
I heaved a long, deep sigh. This is so not what I want right now.
“Why do you look this way? Aren't you happy to see me?”
I raised my head up to gaze at her.
“Louisiana, I see no reason why you should come to my company. We have nothing to talk about.”
“I'm not saying we have things to talk about, I just missed you and wanted to see you. I mean no harm.”
There, that is the problem! He wanted to avoid seeing her at all.
“Well, I'm glad you are okay, but I need you to excuse me as I'm pressed with things to do.”
“Oh, I see. That's no bother then, I'll let you do your thing, but I want you to promise me that we will have some time to ourselves. I was t us to catch up on things, Bryce.”
“What things? We don't have anything to catch up on, Louisiana. We ended things three years ago.”
She instantly sat on my desk and leaned in.
“I know you will say this, but Bryce, I've never stopped thinking about you, even for once. You have no idea just how much I've missed you.”
Louisiana suddenly placed her hands on my hand and began to draw traces on my skin. Immediately, I yanked away from her.
“Louisiana, I'm not going to entertain your silliness this time. Please leave my office.”
“Bryce, come on. You know just how much I've missed you. It's been three fucking years. Isn't that enough time for old friends like you and me to catch up?”
“Catch up and then what?”
“You'll never know unless you try,” she said, trying to place her hand on me again.” Knowing she wouldn't stop the madness she was trying to pull, I immediately stood up from my chair and walked to the door.
“For the sake of the respect I have got you as a woman, I'd advise you to take your leave quietly. I bet you don't want me to call in security on you. It would be very embarrassing.”
Louisiana stared at me as a gasp escaped her lips. She shook her head and slowly stood up from the desk.
“Bryce, I never would have ever thought that you'd treat me this way. We were both young, and you know done things are bound to happen. Why can't you just forget about the past and forgive me?”
“Now you are mistaken, Louisiana. I have forgiven you ever since the incident happened.”
“If you truly forgive me, then why are you treating me this way?”
“What are you talking about now? Louisiana, please leave,” I quickly opened the door wide, so she could leave. After staring at me for some seconds, she slowly descended from the table and walked over to the door. She paused and took her gaze towards me.
“I don't believe that you don't have feelings for me anymore, Bryce, I'll come back for you. I'll prove to you that I still care and that we can rekindle our love,” with that, she walked out of the office.
The moment she left, I heaved a long, deep sigh. Louisiana and I only dated for a year. Nothing serious, until that faithful night. I ended things with her immediately, but now she's talking about love?
There was no love from the start. I've only truly loved Avyannna, and nothing can change that.
*****Louisiana's POV****I marched out of Bryce's office in anger. I can't believe that he would ask me to leave just like that. This is a man I knew cared for me. How the hell did he change so much within three years? I know I made a mistake, but that was all but a mistake. And by the way, it was his fault. If only he had been there for me, I wouldn't have gotten myself into the mess I got into. So, why can't he see past my fault and accept me back? A tear escaped my eyes, so I quickly wiped it off and marched out of the company's building. I need to clear my head. I can't believe I had been preparing to see him over a week after I got hold of his company's address. And then, when I thought everything was going to work out fine, I ended up being rejected like this? Getting into my car, I pulled up my hair and held it in a ponytail. Putting my hands on the steering wheel, I thought of where to go to, in order to clear my thoughts. Just then, I remembered just where to be. Immedia
AVYMy name is Avyanna, but I prefer to be addressed as Avy, as my friends call me.I was known for my adventurous spirit and boldness. A girl who never shied away from a challenge, and her promiscuous nature, which often led to unexpected situations. However, nothing could have prepared me for the whirlwind of emotions and uncertainty that would follow a one-night affair. It was a night that began like any other, with laughter, dancing, and the clinking of glasses in celebration of my birthday. I was a hardworking and dedicated student who had always prioritized studies over everything else. As a result, I have never experienced the thrill of being in a romantic relationship. My friends, who cared deeply for me, wanted to make my upcoming birthday a truly unforgettable experience. The day of my birthday arrived, and my friends had planned an elaborate celebration. *****Avy's POV*****Three months later*****I had been going steady with Bryce and, within the span of three months, we'd grown so attached that I found it difficult to live my day without calling him to hear his voice. Every so often I felt like I was being too forward and falling deeply. But then, this was the first time I had fallen in love and dated a man. Getting pregnant at 18 when I just turned an adult and having to run away from home to take care of my son as an independent woman didn't give me the chance of falling in love like girls my age did. I had to grow up fast and be responsible for myself and my son.So now that I've finally found a man who I fell in love with, I don't know how to act around him.“Avy, why do you look so lost in thoughts?” I quickly snapped out of my thoughts and took my gaze up at Katie.“Katie, do you think I'm getting too attached to Bryce?” Katie stared at me with a curious gaze, and then she smiled afterward.“But of course. I had a great time, and it was all thanks to you.”“Well, then, I'm glad you had a great time just like I did too.”“Let me take you home, Avy,” Bryce offered. That was so sweet of him. “Thank you so much for your offer, Bryce, but I have to go home by myself.”“Huh? Why is that, though?”“Well…the thing is, I'm not going home now. I have plenty of things to take care of at the office, so I'm actually heading to work.”“Oh, okay, I'll reach out to you.” Bryce walked up to me, and for some reason I had wanted to wrap my hands around him, but I didn't know if that would be like me, trying to push things. Do I just let my hands fall back to my side? Just then, Bryce moved closer to me, he licked his lips nervously, I suppose.“So, can I give you a goodbye hug?”I raised my gaze up at myself.
