EVELYN

"Anything that happens next should be between us, please! I’m begging you with my life! Just pretend nothing happened and you didn't notice anything!" I implored, gazing into the doctor’s eyes.

He stared at me, confused, tilting his head as he tried to understand my plea. Slowly, he nodded, looking down as if he was processing what I said.

It seemed he didn’t know what was going on. He was not in on their games and was just following John’s orders.

"But the operation..." he started in hesitation.

"That will never hold!" I blurted out loud but panicked and darted my eyes left and right, scanning the room for any sign that they were around.

After that, I begged him not to tell anyone about the pregnancy because right now, the only thing on my mind was to escape.

I'm leaving. I'm finally making the choice I’ve been dreading, the one I never wanted to make in my life with Alpha John. I have endured enough torment.

I wiped my tears away as I saw the doctor leave the room and clos

JOHN XAVIER POVThere’s no way she signed the divorce papers. How is that even possible? That’s unlike her. The Evelyn I knew would do anything to keep me by her side! The thought made me both angry and confused. In front of me were three of my warriors, looking serious and focused. Another three stood behind us, all under the watchful gaze of Beta Andrew, who stayed right by my side. We moved quickly into the woods, searching for her.“Spread out!” I shouted, my voice breaking the quiet of the trees. The warriors immediately scattered into the different directions to find her. Andrew, however, remained by my side, loyal as ever.I took a deep breath and could perceive her scent. The air was filled with her scent which was sweet but mixed with fear. I followed the trail, my instincts sharp and senses heightened. The darkness of the woods didn’t hinder me; I navigated the underbrush easily, careful not to trip over the roots and branches reaching out like skeletal hands. The cold ai

EVELYN’S POV: My legs hurt badly and throbbed, making it hard for me move. As I forced myself to stir, I could see darkness around me. Fear filled me. "Did Alpha John find me?" The thought made my stomach churn. I tried to sit up, but my limbs felt like lead. “Where am I?” I struggled to think when I noticed a strange scent brush my senses. It was calming, like a breath of fresh air. It was the same one I had perceived just before I passed out. As I pushed myself up, I realized I was lying on a bed, soft and comfortable compared to the rough ground of the woods I had fainted on. The cool fabric felt nice against my skin. I pressed my fingers into the plush mattress to confirm I wasn’t dreaming. “What happened?” I whispered. I quickly looked around the room I was in. Sunlight poured through a large window, filling the space with warm light. I heard rustling sounds from outside, mixed with a rooster crowing. This meant that it was already the next morning. “Moo

EVELYN’S POV:FIVE YEARS LATER“Mommy! Mommy!”The joyful shouts of my two little kids echoed in the expansive parking lot of the elementary school.I turned to see them running happily toward me, their melodious laughter bringing a warm smile to my face. Harriet and Harry, with their bright smiles and sparkling eyes, raced forward, their little feet thumping on the pavement. When they got to me, they wrapped their tiny arms around my legs.“How was school today, my little scholars?” I asked, crouching down to their height and resting my hands gently on their shoulders. “Great!” Harriet exclaimed, her brunette pigtails bouncing. She held up a crumpled drawing of a T-Rex, the bright colors spilling over the edges of the paper.I gave her a thumbs up and she giggled, her chubby cheeks bunching up. I took their little hands in mine and we walked side by side.As we left the busy school grounds, the sounds of children playing faded behind us. I felt the warm afternoon sun on my back as

As I walked into the living room, she opened her mouth to say the name of the visitor but hesitated. Just then, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I quickly took it out and answered. “Ma’am, there’s an emergency! You need to rush down to the company right away. The project file you used for the defense is missing!” Mimi, my personal assistant, said in a frantic voice. My heart sank. Without thinking, I rushed down the hallway, snatched the car keys from the driver’s hand, flung open the door of the driver’s seat and jumped in. As I backed out of the gate, I saw my driver running after me, trying to catch up and take over. But I didn’t have the time for that. What did she mean by the project defense file was missing???? There was no way the project I had poured my heart and soul in, spent sleepless nights and dealt with endless headaches for, just disappear! Moon Goddess, please let this not be true. ALPHA JOHN XAVIER’S POV:“Alpha, are you listening?” Andrew’s voice cut through my foggy thoughts, snapping me out of them.I jolted upright, feeling the heavy weight of tiredness on my shoulders. I rubbed my face and brushed the stubble on my jaw. These past five years, I haven’t felt like myself. Each day was a struggle against a deep fatigue that made it hard to concentrate. “What festival are you talking about?” I replied, my voice raspy as I straightened in my chair. Andrew stood in front of me, his brow furrowed with concern with an invitation letter clutched tightly in his hands. As I leaned forward, sunlight streamed through the window, lighting up the edges of the card. I took it from him, our fingers brushing.Reading the words, shock and disbelief filled me. The Nightshade Pack—one of the oldest and most powerful packs to exist—was celebrating their three-hundredth anniversary, and Silver Moon had been invited. “What do you think, Alpha? Should we go?” he asked enthusi

EVELYN POVAfter a couple of hours, I let out a deep sigh as the plane touched down, the rumble of the landing gear jolting me back to reality.I stepped out onto the tarmac with Harry and Harriet and nostalgia hit me, making me pause for a moment to look at the familiar skyline of New York City. I’m back in New York.I blinked against the bright afternoon sun as the towering buildings cast long shadows. Memories flooded my mind. Most of them were dark and haunting. I tried to reach for good memories, but there were none. All the time I spent in this city, I never truly had a moment of peace. I mean, compared to what I enjoyed now, what I used to call ‘peaceful’ now seemed like hellhole to me.What if I hadn’t taken that bold decision to free myself? I often wondered. The way my life turned around based on one decision still felt surreal. The image of that day where I was filled with pain and betrayal, loomed larger than life. It felt like a dark cloud hovering above me, yet, str

ALPHA JOHN XAVIER: Diane and I walked into the grand venue for the Nightshade pack's anniversary celebration, and her eyes instantly widened in surprise. "Wow, darling, look at these designs! They're so beautiful," she said with real admiration. I followed her gaze and saw the carefully crafted decorations. Bright golden balloons decorated the entrance, shining in the warm light above. In the middle of the red carpet, there was a large arch, covered in red and black fabrics, with strip lights wrapped around it. I couldn't help but nod in agreement, a faint smile forming on my lips. "You're beautiful too," I murmured, my eyes briefly scanning Diane in her short, figure-hugging blue gown. Even though she wore a bit too much makeup for my taste, I couldn't deny her natural beauty. At my compliment, Diane's face lit up. She leaned in and pressed a soft kiss on my cheek. "It's been a while since you've complimented me," she whispered, her breath gently tickling my skin. EVELYN'S POV: The loud applause filled the grand hall as I finished my speech. I was filled with excitement and a bit of nervousness. I didn’t expect Simone to put me in the spotlight like this, else I would have at least prepared a speech. Winnie flashed me a thumbs up and a wink from the crowd, her eyes shining with pride, and I felt thankful for her support. As I made my way back to my seat, I saw Simone smiling warmly at me, and couldn’t help but return it with a small nod. He knew how uncomfortable I was with such public attention, but he insisted I be the one to unveil the DeepBlue project. I could only hope I didn’t disappoint him. Winnie and I found a quiet corner in the bar area, away from the bustling crowd. She handed me a glass of sparkling wine and we clinked them in a toast. “Cheers,” we said in unison, chuckling heartily. Winnie’s shimmering gown caught the light, and her hair was neatly pulled back in a high ponytail, highlighting her features. “I did

EVEYLN“Don’t you want to go inside and rest?” Winnie asked gently, her voice filled with worry.I let out a long sigh and closed my eyes. A cool breeze brushed against my skin, carrying the earthy smell of the forest. It felt peaceful, just what I needed. I took a deep breath, filling my lungs, then slowly opened my eyes.I shook my head and looked at Winnie, choosing not to acknowledge John walking quietly next to me.“I’m okay, really,” I said with a smile. “I just want to walk a little. And now that Harry’s curse won't affect anytime soon and he can control his shifting... that’s more than enough to help me feel at peace.” “You’re right. At least now he can go to school without being bullied for it,” Winnie said.I nodded slowly, glancing at her as she exchanged a quick look with John. Honestly, she wasn’t very good at hiding whatever was going on between them, it showed clearly on her face. John, on the other hand, kept looking straight ahead, his face calm and hard to read. But

"Hey! Let go of my hair!" she shouted, struggling to break free. She scratched at his arm, but he didn’t let go.John smirked as he finally pulled his hand away from her hair in a roughly manner. She stepped back, breathing hard. Her hands shook as she fixed her hair, her eyes burning with anger. "What’s the point of bringing up the past when you’ve already ruined the future?"John gave a dry laugh, hands stuffed in his pockets. "If you want to know why the future fell apart, shouldn’t you start by looking at what went wrong in the past?"She looked him over, her voice cold. "Wasn’t it already stopped?""You stopped because you found out I’m the heir to the Silvermoon Pack," he blurted out. "If I didn’t have power, if I were just some nobody you would’ve kept going, wouldn’t you?"She gave a dry laugh, putting her hands on her hips like she didn’t care, even though his words were true."I don’t care about the past, alright?" she snapped. JOHNNot Giovanni telling his bodyguards to tie me up just because I spoke the truth about his past. I can't wait to expose him, but first, I need proof so everyone will believe me and I'll make sure Giovanni proves it himself.I have to use my claws to tear the ropes and escape his Pack. I need to see my son and keep teaching him how to control his shift, especially since he's so young and determined to learn. Plus, the ritual is happening this evening. When I arrived at the Pack Witch’s place, I froze, seeing that we have guests here. I saw Giovanni. My fists clenched on instinct, heat rushing to my face. But then I noticed something, his eyes. They were shifting nervously, and his posture was tense, like he was being watched. The Pack Witch stood in front of him, her sharp eyes locked on him like a predator cornering its prey. It looked like she was questioning him. When our eyes met, Giovanni’s shoulders dropped, and he let out a quiet sigh of relief. If Winnie and Evelyn hadn’t

EVEYLN“Daddy!” Harry yelled, his voice echoing through the cave. He jumped up and ran to John as soon as he walked in. Hugging him tightly.I rolled my eyes. Of course. The room felt tense, like there was electricity in the air. She kept asking questions about John to him like he held him and he looked just as confused as I felt. I couldn’t blame him, if someone asked me such weird questions, I’d be lost too.“Traffic was terrible today. That’s why I’m late,” John muttered. He spoke to the Pack witch, who slowly nodded.I watched John for a moment. He kept looking at Giovanni. Giovanni noticed and scoffed, giving a small sneer before turning away to stare at something across the cave. Now that John was finally here, I thought maybe we could start the ritual and hope it would all go smoothly.I didn’t even look at John. I was too focused on Harry, Giovanni, and my friend Winnie. They felt more important at the moment or maybe it was just easier than dealing with everything else.Harr

EVEYLN “You want to fire Bea?” Winnie asked, surprised, as she poured orange juice into my glass.A warm breeze moved through the patio, lifting her hair while the golden sunset was gradually fading. I sighed and reached for my glass on the table.“I’m not sure,” I said, slowly swirling the juice. “But something about her just feels… off.”“Off? Just like that?” Winnie frowned and moved her chair closer to mine, its legs sliding softly on the wooden deck. She looked at me carefully. I looked around, my eyes landing on the house. Giovanni might still be inside with Harriet. I then remembered his red knuckles that I noticed when I was in the hospital. Had he gotten into a fight or something?“What do you think about her?” I asked, breaking the silence.“Me?” Winnie blinked and pointed at herself like she was surprised. I nodded.“She’s a good woman,” she said firmly, leaning back in her chair. “You’ve seen how she takes care of your kids. You better stop thinking like that.”I sighed

EVEYLNThe strong smell of medicine hit my nose as I slowly opened my eyes. I looked left, then right, noticing the pale walls and stiff sheets. It didn’t take long to realize I was in a hospital bed."Finally, you're awake, Evelyn," said a voice I recognized. It was soft and full of relief.I turned my head toward the sound, my heart skipping a beat. "Winnie?" I said, confused. She nodded and gave me a small, unsure smile. Before I could say anything else, another voice spoke up in a calm but worried tone."You fainted from the shock," I looked over to the chair next to my bed and saw Reuben sitting there, his eyebrows pulled together with concern. The memory hit me all at once, fast and messy. I remembered holding the steering wheel tightly as I turned onto an empty road, the car going faster by the second. I had picked that road on purpose, hoping to avoid hurting anyone. Then suddenly, another car appeared beside me, and the driver yelled through the open window."Jump out of th

EVELYN"Where’s John?" I asked sharply as I walked into the villa. I saw Bea relaxing in the living room. She looked up and shook her head. "He left this morning. I don’t know where he went," she said casually.Embezzlement? Money laundering? And all those shady deals? Didn’t he understand how much trouble this could cause? How it could ruin the whole project if he got caught?I sighed in frustration, gripping the back of the couch, trying to calm myself. I had to find him. He had a lot of explaining to do. "Evelyn, a group of people came to see you today," Bea said carefully."Huh?" I looked at her, confused. "What do you mean?"She paused, then added, "They were women.""Women?" I asked, narrowing my eyes and that's when my mind went to the Women Affairs Group. "Are they trying to embarrass me even more?" I rolled my eyes and walked to the dining table, pouring a glass of water to calm down."Bea," I said, glancing at her. "Do you remember Mimi?"Bea turned toward me, looking curio

My attention shifted to the balcony ahead, where his maids said he’d be.I froze when I saw him. He was calmly stacking papers on the table, a smug smirk on his face. Of course, this bastard already knew I was here. He always did."I expected you sooner," he said without looking up. He tapped the papers into place, then glanced at me, eyes gleaming. "I have someone to meet, after all." He slowly lifted his head, locking eyes with me, amusement flickering in his gaze.My fists clenched so tightly my knuckles felt like they might split. The urge to hit him filled inside of me, a punch, a fight, anything to see his blood on the floor."You’re in deep trouble, Mr. John," he said mockingly. EVEYLN"I don't know either," he said, his brows furrowing. "She just walked in and started moving like a snake."He motioned for me to sit on the couch, then took off his suit jacket and sat down himself. I hesitated, still trying to process everything. Should I go after her and ask for an explanation, or just stay and sit down?I shook my head and without saying another word, I turned and walked out of his office, my steps quick and determined. I scanned the hallway, trying to figure out where she might have gone. Then it hit me, she could be in the women's bathroom. That wasn’t like her. The Mimi I knew would never act this way. There had to be a reason. I couldn’t believe it. And the bigger question remained, what was she even doing in this city?My phone rang from inside my bag. I pulled it out and saw Giovanni’s name on the screen. I answered right away."When are you free?
