"Are you ready?" Will asked Modupe.
"Hmm." She hummed and smiled up at Will who was supporting her frame. "I'm so ready."
The duo and the two resident doctors stepped into the vehicle that had been sent for them.
The flight earlier had been quiet while they all thought about all they had been through together.
The project that they initially came for, their bonding night out, the incident that changed their whole lives and put them on the fast paced pedestal that was this past week.
A week! It had seemed like a month, weeks, with all that had happened.
Without doubt, they had all matured greatly and learned a lot from the experience... things that they were not going to forget in a hurry!
Like the fact that... they could not deny the paranormal. After all, the lack of evidence was not the evidence of lack.
Luckily, since Michelle was discharged and spoke to her parents, there was no need for
I apologize that this book is really short with less than 30k words in all. I plan to edit it at some point and make it better. I figured that a really long Horror book might be less interesting and would just seem drawn out. I've not read a lot of them but I watch horror movies so I wrote this like I would picture an Horror movie. I appreciate all those who stuck with me and read Reincarnation regardless. Thank you all. After saying this, I would love and appreciate your feedbacks and things to watch out for when I do edit the book. It would be really helpful and appreciated. Bonus scene ideas too would be great. Thanks once again.
It started like any party with the school headmistresses monitoring us all with hawk like eyes. Then in the night, It turned wilder beyond belief. The headmistresses had been drugged by Essa, the school wild girl. I wanted to impress her, so I stayed there, and convinced my gentler twin to do the same. The next morning, I knew without a single doubt that something... everything was insanely wrong. And we were imprissoned in a nightmare. I had to escape, and make sure that my sister also makes it out alive."... I promise you that at the end, you would wish that you were one of the ones whose soul was consumed tonight."
The sun was setting on the horizon. The orange streaked clouds painted a beautiful picture and everything was calm.A heavily pregnant lady crawled through the forest groaning in pain. Every inch of her dark skin was covered in dirt, bruises and bites. But she didn't seem to mind it. She didn't even mind the stream of blood from underneath her skirts and down her legs. All she wanted was to get as far away as she could from the nightmare she left behind It was eerily quiet around her, not a single sound which put her on alert. She knew exactly who she was dealing with. He was never going to let her get away. She was never destined to survive but she had to, especially for her baby's sake. He despised it and would not think twice about getting rid of it. She had to survive for her child. But she knew he wouldn't let her live, not as long she had what belongs to him with her, he'd surely find her. There was no escaping him. Sh
Dr. Modupe Bankole Williams always had her life under control every moment. She hated last minute plans, or people who arrived late to appointments, or even sudden rainfall in summer.... Well you get the gist. She never liked when things don't go according to her plans which you can assume, makes her a darling to her patients but a nightmare for the nurses under her.Even her colleagues tend to walk on egg shells around her.She never minded though, She graduated Magna cum laude from Brown University Medical School and was now an ambitious attending doctor. All twenty-eight years of her life, she had always been the minority as a colored woman but Modupe never believed in playing the victim."Never give up, never surrender" was her motto since she was a teenaged high-schooler. And even though it helped her become the Doctor she was now, it also meant she never allowed herself to be weak or overwhelmed which were useless
"Mummy please don't go. Don't leave me here with him." Modupe cried clutching her mother in a hug as tight as her teenage strength could allow. "Please, please, don't go."Mariam patted her daughter's back returning the hug. "Come on, it would just be a few weeks and I'll be back. Why are you crying so hard? I already told you that I'll be back soon for you, baby."Mo shook her head not convinced. Her parents didn't know that she heard their heated discussion when she came home early from football practice the week before. She heard them talk about their divorce."I need to go home to explain to my parents that I cannot continue to live with a cheat hence the divorce. I'm also going to get my things in order so I can settle there permanently." She had heard her mother say as she came in through the backdoor since her mother didn't like her soiling the doormat with her muddied trainers. She paused mid stride as soon as she heard 'cheat'.
"Cheers."The happy group of doctors clinked their glasses of wine before downing them. The sat back in their chairs, chatting loudly above the fast Afro beat playing in the hotel bar."Guys we have just one village to visit and then we are done with our residency. Can you guys believe it?" Louis, a very fair, almost albino skinned kid screamed to be heard above the hubbub around them. "We should let loose this night. We never know, it may be our last chance to.""You're right, Lou. Once we start getting called in, we'd be way too busy." Shirley agreed clearly already tipsy. She suddenly got to her feet and flicked her long blonde hair. "I'm going to the dance floor, maybe check out some cute guys. You shouldn't wait up for me." She giggled as she sashayed down to the crowded floor beneath them."I wanna dance too." Roy called out before downing the rest of his drink. "Michelle, you're coming with?"Michelle blu
Mo avoided meeting Will's eyes the whole trip to their last location. He had been trying to talk about how she had snuck out while he was asleep after the incredible day they had together but she ignored him She couldn't face him, not yet. She still needed to regroup and refocus. She had to remind herself of all the reasons it would not work out. Men were scum as far as she was concerned. Her father was a perfect example of that. If her dad, her ex-hero could cheat on her mother in some "weak moment ", then Will who had always been a chick magnet would most definitely do so too. She was so scared of being betrayed again. She couldn't. Panic bubbled within her at the thought of ending up like her mother, the fear was like a wild storm threatening to swallow her whole. They arrived at the village in less than two hours, it was a relaxing journey thankfully and knowing that it was their la
"Time of death, 10:26pm" Modupe heard the words, she understood what they meant but it had not sink in. Time of d-death? Who died? Why? Nothing could shake Modupe out of the thick haze that fogged her mind. Not the sound of things being jostled together as they packed up, not the little howl that Roy let out from nicking his finger while cleaning up the dead girl. Not the loud cries of the baby in her arms. The little kid whose loneliness reminded her of hers when she was that age was dead. Gone just like that. Without her family any the wiser. Just like.... Modupe choked on a sob. No, no, she couldn't be crying. She never got attached to patients. Or anyone for that matter. "Mo, are you okay?" Modupe adjusted the baby into one arm by crooking her elbow, then used her free hand to dash angry tears. She turned to see Will standing behind her looking solemn. She knew that look, it was the detached grim face

Mo woke up disoriented and with a throbbing head. Luckily, the sunlight was not in her face, so she could pry her eyes open. "You're awake, Good!" She heard a voice say from behind her making her turn sharply which in turn hurt her head. But at the new view brought two things to her attention. One, she was no longer in the cemetery but at some strange enclosure that looked like a cave. Two, the moon was out, which meant that it was night. With that realization came a sinking dread. It was nearly time for Makunde to kill her. "Roy?!" Last she was awake, she had seen him too and was wondering why he was still in the country. “Do me a favor, Doctor Modupe Bankole Williams." "Sure. Whatever you want." Mo said quickly. Anything to get him to stop crying and get them to the house with the rest for better security. Roy's eyes turned serpentine against her neck but she cou
Dr Gabriel Nwankolo walked into the ward containing the female white patient that was admitted the day before. It wasn't his duty to attend to her but he wanted to check on the leg again since he was doing his morning rounds anyway. He threw the door open and saw that she was fast asleep on the bed. He moved closer to the bed and kept his clipboard and pen on a table beside her bed.The wrap around her leg was saggy on the skin and he noted with amazement that her leg was back to it's normal size.Gabriel adjusted his glasses in surprise as though it would alter what he was looking at.He was one of the doctors that had attended to her the day before and he could have bet half his fortune that she would not have survived the night. The rate at which her leg was swelling and the pus... all that pus.... It was like her body was fighting an infection that was more than her body could take.It was truly horrib
This chapter is a mixed-up continuation of the two scenes in the last chapter so don't get confused. “Stay with me tonight, Will." Modupe said decided with reckless abandon. “Are you sure, Mo?" Will asked Modupe. Will had always wanted a relationship with her and she deliberately kept pushing him away and tonight, she realized that that was another one of her stupid decisions. She wished she could change that. She would if she was given a chance. Dropping her towel she practically begged. “Make me forget it all. For tonight." *-*-*-* The car drove into the city in perfect silence. The driver glanced at the White man who had fallen asleep not long after he had picked him up. This was too ridiculously easy. “Werey tun sun. It be like say he no sabi the pesin he don waka join for inside moto." “The idiot is even asleep. It's like he has no idea who he is traveling with in the vehicle."
A youth trudged over to the road looking weary, hungry and lost. It was dark all around from a moonless night and he desperately needed a means of transportation back to civilization. He had been running in the forest for over an hour haunted by the thoughts of his worst nightmare and now he was tired, dirty and afraid. He stood by the deserted road and stretched out his thumb for any vehicle that would possibly pass by. There would at least be one that he could hitchhike off of.He stood there for a while, ten minutes, twenty and maybe forty as the night seemed to become darker and darker distorting reality and fiction as he imagined what would happen if he did not get picked. As if conjured by his thoughts, a car turned around the corner and started heading towards him fast.He jumped into the road trying to make himself as visible as possible. He jumped and waved his hands several times desperate to get away from a
Modupe was so so close to snapping at Will if he told her to calm down one more time. It was not his fault that any of this was happening but change, surprise and the lot were not her cup of tea. And Lord knows that she had had enough of those this week alone to last her a lifetime. The flight she had scheduled for the team was supposed to depart in a few hours and Michelle was still in the emergency room with a group of doctors that had still not shown up after an hour. The situation and the feeling of helplessness was maddening to Mo and she could not stop pacing the entrance of the emergency room. She moved like a walking bomb and she felt like one too. If a doctor did not come and update her ASAP, she might just go off. And bring the hospital down while she was at it. She glanced at the closed doors and waited and paused and waited again and paused and over and over. Will came back with cold ca
They had an extremely busy day but by evening, they were all finally together and complete. To say that Roy and Shirley were traumatized would be an understatement. In fact, everyone of them were scared out of their asses but most of all Mo. She could not forget the sinking feeling she had all day.The fact that she dreamt about the baby every night and would even see the next form of the demon told her that she had a big role to play in this sick fiasco. That morning, the kid she saw was exactly the one she saw in her dream on the last night they spent in the hotel. And when she had yelled at him, he listened, albeit reluctantly and left. Just like that. Her, a mere mortal. It made her feel like a queen pawn! The mother of the demon was her best guess, which according to Aderele, meant that he would be going for her head last. But she could not tell anyone of them. She could not put them in trouble for her sake. So she had
