Gabriel

I got to work earlier than usual probably because the pills didn't do its work. I walked into my office and buried myself in some of the work that I couldn't finish yesterday. My phone rang and I already know who the caller is without even checking so I ignored it. A text came in few minutes after the ringing as expected so I opened it

I miss you son... Just wanted to know how you are doing. Rachel was at the house yesterday, she extended her greetings... Call me if you can. I love you

I deleted the text as usual without replying. If she misses me as she implies she knows exactly what to do.

The door to my office opened and Persefoni walked in looking smart in her red dress and black heels. She smiled at me just as she dropped my cup of coffee on the table.

"Good morning sir"

I stared at her in confusion "how did you know I was in the office already?"

"I saw your car parked outside"

Is she serious right now? "You saw my car outside?"

"Yes sir, so I decided to fix your coffee before coming to meet you"

I relaxed back on my seat "I decided to park my car in the parking lot today so my car isn't parked outside. How exactly did you say you knew am here?"

She blinked rapidly "I saw a car that looks exactly like yours outside so I confused it to be yours"

Why the hell is she lying? "Am the only one that drives a Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport in this company Persefoni and its too early to have a visitor in the building so am going to ask you for the last time, how did you know I was here?"

She bit her lips "when I walked in here, I perceived your cologne so I knew you were in the office" she looked at me through her lashes "am sorry I lied, I just thought it will be kind of embarrassing to say I can already identity your cologne in the air"

I was already tired of questioning her and tired of her lying to me, so I didn't correct her that I didn't apply any cologne because I was allergic to them. Whatever she said she perceived was definitely not mine so I switched to business related matters.

Searching through my drawer, I presented a file to her "take this file to Miss Clay once she arrives, tell her to sign it and bring it over to me herself"

She nodded as she took the file "okay sir. I'll get your schedule for today ready"

"Free my lunch; we will be having lunch with a client"

She pointed towards herself "we? You mean am going with you?"

"Aren't you my secretary?"

She laughed nervously "yes sir I am, I'll just go free your lunch"

I watched her leave my office with a huge smile on her face. I guess it takes little or no effort to put a smile to her face.

My sister never returned the file and when I asked Persefoni if she delivered the file to her personally, she said her secretary collected the file from her since she is yet to come to work.

Immediately the long hand and short hand stroke twelve, I left for the lunch meeting together with Persefoni. I guess the lunch is going to be strictly business since am having lunch with my cousin who happens to be a distant one or so I like to believe. For reasons unknown to me, I am a little distant from them all the way from home, even before that incident.

"So who are we having lunch with? Because it isn't on your schedule"

"You're in no place to ask me about my meetings and who am meeting with"

"Am your assistant" she mumbled

I turned my sharp gaze to her "you won't be for long if you don't keep your mouth shut"

"That wasn't meant to come out loud"

"Just shut up Persefoni"

She made a show of zipping her mouth and putting the key in her purse. I shook my head at her childish behavior and I opted silence as the best option.

We arrived at the restaurant a little early, so I ordered us wine. Five minutes later, my client/my cousin walked in looking like he owns the damn restaurant.

"Hello Gabriel" he ran his gaze up and down Persefoni's body. "Who's the lovely lady?"

"It's Mr. Washington to you and that lady is my secretary"

He sat down on the seat closest to her "drop the formality man, am Peter to you Gabriel, so please stop"

I leaned in a little closer to him "if you want me to hear your business proposal Peter then we will have to keep this meeting strictly business"

"Are you also like this with Gabriella? Or is your new found formality just for me?"

"Gabriella is family"

He barked out a short laughter "and what am I then? A stranger?"

"Right now, you are a business man looking for some company to partner with and later, we'll figure out what you are?"

I expected the fucker to become upset or serious but he grinned instead

"Let's just get to business Gabriel"

I nodded and he commenced with his presentation. He kept on talking for God knows how long while Persefoni kept on taking notes.

"So what do you think about the proposal Gabriel?"

"So you want to merge our names for a year then we go our separate ways right?"

"When you talk like that you make it seem as if it's a bad idea"

"Just answer the damn question Peter!!"

He smiled "so much for formality Gabriel. Yes that is what I mean"

I stood up from my seat and Persefoni followed suit. "I'll get back to you after consulting my lawyer"

He stood up too "you mean Gabriella?"

"That isn't any concern of yours. Have a lovely day Peter"

I almost walked past the door when I heard his damn voice again

"Why are you making your parents so unhappy Gabriel? Why are you distancing yourself from them?"

"Don't" I gritted

He stepped closer "don't what Gabriel? Tell you the fucking truth to your face? Come on man, the fact that you still have any contact with Gabriella is because she is persistent, because she is the one constantly and stubbornly reaching out to you"

"What's your deal Peter? Why this sudden interest huh? You never gave a fuck about my family so what's with this new found interest!!!"

He stepped closer to me "oh please Gabriel...I attend every fucking family dinner!!"

"That's because your father told you to and because you are your father's fucking puppet"

I felt someone's hand on my arm

"We need to leave sir, everyone is beginning to stare"

I pushed her hand away from my arm as I stormed outside the restaurant. I walked straight to my car and got in. I looked out through the window expecting to see Persefoni rather I saw a small crowd gathering around someone that happens to be Persefoni.

I opened the car and ran out, pushing people out of the way to get to her and when I did, I saw her bleeding through her nose and ears and she kept uttering words that definitely isn't English.

Bringing me to the hospital and staying with me the whole night when there is absolutely nothing wrong with me is kind of funny but touching. "I was bleeding through my nose and ears, how can they say there is nothing wrong with me?""I think you should direct your questions to them once they come to check you again""Am so sorry for keeping you away from your duties at the office"He stared at me as if he is trying to figure me out or trying

GabrielI got to work a little bit late thanks to the new drugs prescribed to me by my doctor yesterday. I think the drug is very active since I over slept this morning. Taylor opened the door and I walked into the lobby ignoring anyone who greeted me. If I decide to respond to every greeting, then am going to spend all day in the lobby. I walked to my private elevator and it took me to the twenty forth floor.Just as I walked past the fax room, I heard her voice. 'Whats she doing here? Isn't she supposed to stay at home bed resting or something? I took a step forward to reprimand her for coming to work today but I stopped when I heard another voice"I haven't seen you after that day at the elevator?""I've been busy Alvera, you know... with work"Alvera? I can't remember that name. I guess that's what happens when you pay over two hundred staffs."Who you'd work under?" Alvera asked"Mr. Wash

Persefoni Everywhere is so sunny and bright, I stepped away from the shield then all of a sudden, everywhere is cloudy, I guess am aren't the sun's favorite, I tried to walk back to the shield before the clouds starts weeping but I was unfortunate again. The cloud releases its tears on me but something felt strange. I stared down at my soaked self but instead of a colorless, odorless and tasteless liquid, I saw red. It was raining blood.I woke up drenched in sweat, I checked my alarm clock and it showed me that it is still two in the morning. I rubbed my eyes as I my mind went back to that dream. Blood? It was raining blood instead of rain? In the world of witches, it means something big is about to happen and when I say big, I don't mean the good big. I mean that something very bad is about to happen. Back in the coven, it actually rains blood like literally. Whenever it rains blood in the coven, witches of the high places get t

3 years agoI stared at her beautiful body as she changed into her dress. Most ladies would have been ashamed of her body but not this one standing before me."You've been staring at me for some time, should I be worried?"I removed the duvet covering the lower part of my body and my hard erection sprang out. "The only thing you should be worried about is this cock finding its way into your pussy"She laughed at me "are you always this crude?""Why are hiding your name from me?"She turned so I can help her zip up her gown but I pulled her into the bed with me. "Just your first name please"She kissed me on the nose "you know the rule, no name. And why are you so keen on finding out my name? It's not as if you are going to see me again"Yeah... one her annoying rules. No name, no second meeting just a one night stand, no dropping me

GabrielThis is the second time am visiting a hospital in a month. Imagine having lunch with your secretary and she starts bleeding through the nose, she excuses herself to go use the rest room only for you to find her on the floor in the toilet bleeding not through her nose but through a gash on her head.A soft mourn brought back my attention to the woman lying on the bed. She opened her eyes and those wide innocent eyes stared back at me."Thank you for deciding to join us again Persefoni"She smiled and tried to sit up but I stopped her. "Why don't you relax while I call the doctor?" I pressed the button and a nurse walked in few minutes later."She's awake; I think she should be examined by the doctor"The dark nurse nodded in agreement before she retreated to call the doctor. The doctor walked in together with the nurse."How are you doing Miss Persefoni? You seem to be visiting us regularly"

  • Refrainment   Chapter 9

PersefoniI may not know who is after me. The ancestors? I've not betrayed anyone so they have the wrong person if the message is actually from them but that's not what is bothering me now. What is bothering me is that Gabriel offered that I stay with him, and the fact that I like the idea is really bothering me. I can't get attached to him, I can't even develop feelings for him because feelings make you do stupid things and stupid things lead to death. I can tell him to go ahead and get the cops involved, at the end of the day I'll just send them into a goose chase.I stood up from the bed and walked towards the window. The weather looks fair and bright which is a good sign to any normal human being but as a witch, we read the cloud, we look beyond bright weather and this one above me, this one that am currently staring at isn't good at all. Something bad is about to happen. I may not be able to pin point the exact thing about to happen, because I wasn't a

Three years ago2 weeks later"I found her!!!!!!" Gabriella shrieked, disturbing the peace of all those working close to my office."Gabriella... Keep your voice down, you are in an office environment for Christ sake"She covered her mouth with her hand and quietly sat down on the empty chair close to my desk. I stood up and closed the door to my office, I do not want my parents to accidentally hear me discussing about a girl and also how to stop her from getting married to Richard."What do you have for me?" I asked her as I took a seat closest to hers. She brought out a big brown envelope and dropped it on my desk."I have everything you need to know about Susan Blaire" with the way she answered, I can see that she is feeling very proud of herself.I tried to pick up the envelope but she slapped my hand. "You aren't taking that until you tell me what you have in stock for Richard"

Ten years agoI looked out through the window and watched them prepare for the big day. All streets were decorated, loud music filled the surroundings. I watched happy young ladies and men talking in groups, their faces portraying how happy they are and how they are looking forward to the great occasion.Today, all adult witches are being inaugurated into the witches family. Those who want to serve the Oracle begin that journey today. All those who are from twenty years upwards are going to be recognized as full grown witches in the coven."What are you doing there Persefoni? Shouldn't you be out there working with your mates?"I know that voice, I've grown to hate that voice. "I came up here to get some ribbons for decoration""I don't see you selecting ribbons, all I see is your lazy self looking out the window wishing for something that can never be yours"I maybe cursed from birth, but that doesn't mea

The baby is growing healthily, Sophia is more welcoming towards me and Logan finally moved the witches to New York… and of course, the daughter’s of Morgana refused to leave with him.Oh! The most important news! How could I have forgotten that?I’m getting married next month. You damn heard me right! Gabe asked me to be his wife last month, and I said yes. Come next month, I’m going to be officially Mrs. Washington.Okay! So today is my last fitting and I’m so excited. My phone and I took my eyes away from the road to search for my phone. When I saw Gabby’s name, I knew why she’s ringing me. “Gabby? I swear, I’m almost there. You’ll see me in five.”“You better hurry Persefoni,” she warned “your wedding planner is gradually getting upset, and I can’t stall her any longer.”“Tell her to give me five minutes, I swear it, I’ll be there.” I increased my speed. “Offer to buy her coffee…or maybe” The call was interrup

  • Refrainment   Chapter 41

GabrielThere is a moment in everyone’s life we have to die. Death is something inevitable in the life of anything that eats, breath and reproduces. The most important thing that matters is the legacy we leave, the love we showered on people during our lifetime. These are what matters, necessary things that we have to do before we meet our end, so we’ll be missed, missed and remembered by many. I watched the priest with aloofness. This day reminds me of the day I buried Susan, and it’s not a memory that I want to remember right now. Sophia cried ugly tears beside me, while Gabby and Claire tried their best to console her. You heard me, Claire; somehow mom managed to invite her for the funeral despite my warnings. I felt someone’s hand grab mine. I stared at the ring unclad finger. She squeezed lightly, offering me comfort that I’ve decided not to agree that I need. Yes, he’s my father, but I haven’t been in a good relationship for many years, I only tried to fix things recently and

PersefoniFor a moment, I thought Canine was going to ignore what she saw earlier. I told her indirectly that I do not want to discuss the baby in the presence of these people, but she just had to ruin everything for me; now Gabe is never going to let me go.“Persefoni?” Gabe growled. “Say something.”Blinking rapidly, I tried not to glare at Canine. It will not only be rude to glare at a descendant of Morgana , it will be outright disastrous. “Can we do this later? In the absence of extra pairs of eyes.”He didn’t like it, not one bit but he let it go, for now. Grateful for his understanding, I focused on Canine. “What do you mean this prophecy isn’t about me but my child?” They exchanged glances, communicating silently. “Say something!” I snapped and Logan quickly grabbed my hand reminding me of my place.Sucking in deep breath, I willed myself to calm down. “I’m sorry for snapping at you, just that the tension and silence is killing me.”Gabe stared at Logan’s hand which is still h

Gabriel I do not know how to prepare while visiting witches coven, but I did pack a suitcase. Persefoni watched me as I grabbed my power bank along with my phone.“What are you doing with that?” Persefoni asked, her lips stretched with a smile. “You honestly think you’re going to need that?”I stared at the two objects in my hand, confused at which object is the topic of discussion. “I’m a business man Persefoni, I need my phone with me at all time.” I looked at her hand. “Where is your suitcase?”“Outside.” She returned around and walked towards the entrance door. “I was talking about the power bank, you won’t need it over there.”Dominic opened the car trunk and placed our bag in. “Why won’t I need it? I didn’t know witches have steady.” I teased. Her deep laughter vibrated throughout the car which made me smile. I miss this moment, moments that I make her smile.“When I said you don’t need the power bank, I didn’t say that because there will steady light supply, I said that becaus

Persefoni This is insane. I know I shouldn’t carry on with this, but I can’t bear to disappoint Gabby. I would have carried on with this if Caro didn’t give me the best news of my life.I’m pregnant. I’m carrying an evidence of the love Gabe and I shared.Placing my hand on my stomach, I thought of how best to break the news to Gabby. She will surely to disappointed. I will too, if someone gave me such good hope, not to shatter it, I will be disappointed too.According to Caro, there is no way I’ll do this without harming myself and the baby, she went further to explain that maybe the prophecy wasn’t for me, but for my baby. Nevertheless, there is only one way to find out. I’ll have to pay the daughters of Morgana a visit, either today or tomorrow.Gabriel will be ecstatic about this baby, but I don’t know if I want to share this moment with him. I don’t even know if I can trust him again, especially when that bitch is still roaming round bf street of New York. Gabriel hurt me…he lit

GabrielEverything sounds so crazy and surreal to me. Persefoni knows how much I love her, how much I need her, yet she's ready to sacrifice her life for a man who is paying for his sins. Rubbing my neck stiffly, I tried to get rid of the sudden ache but to no avail. Logan noticing just how hard this news is for me, he refilled my glass. "You are the only one who can talk her out of this Washington. She obviously doesn't listen to me anymore." I chuckled at his statement. "It's true." he argued. "I've been telling her to visit the daughters of Morgana since thy kingdom come, but she's yet to pay them a visit."Daughters of Morgana are bad news, Persefoni educated me on that. The only reason why she has to visit the daughters of Morgana is when she takes something she isn't suppose to consume. "Why did you insist on her paying them a visit?" a thought occurred to me. "Did she drink coffee?" Surely she cannot be that sucidial. He rolled his eyes at my question. "Persefoni hates coffe

  • Refrainment   Chapter 36

GabrielPersefoni has been troubled lately, and the fact the she has refused to tell me what's going on is really frustrating me. I watched her as she interacted with Gabby next to my father which only heightened my suspicion. Once upon a time, they weren't on talking terms, but it seems as if ever since I told Gabby about Persefoni's decision to heal our father, their friendship blossomed again. In conclusion, I don't think the idea of healing father is solely her decision, it seems someone else has been whispering to her. The door opened and my mum walked in with Claire, carrying a basket of fruit. I do not understand the reason why she's still hanging around. Yes, she apologized and I told her I'm over whatever happened in the past. Shouldn't she return to wherever she crawled out from? I glared at mum. What does she take me for? A fool? I totally understand the game she is playing, but if she pushes it too far, I'll be forced to take a decision that she won't like at all. "Ho

PersefoniGabriel is getting worse. He's hardly at home, and the few hours that he decides to be at home, he's always on his phone. I've grown to ignore him, mostly because my new boss is killing me with extra work load. You heard me right. Gabriel finally bought Mr. Puna's company and Liam returned to his father company. According to him, his grandfather's company was on the verge of sinking anyways. He believes that there was nothing he would have done that will save it, but I think that's his own way of brushing up his ego. If that company was redemption, Gabriel wouldn't buy it for anything. I stared at the wall clock and considered calling Gabe. He's usually late, but never this late. The distant voice of Gabby took my mind off calling him for few minutes. Her footstep drew closer and closer until she appeared by the doorway. "I came to pick some clothes for Gabriel, he won't be coming home tonight."Panic freezed my blood. "Is everything okay? Why isn't he coming home tonight

  • Refrainment   Chapter 34

PersefoniI'm bleeding yet again. This time, I think I'm bleeding because of the stress. Gabby thinks I can heal her father of cancer. In all honesty, I wish I can, but I can't, the least I could do is to give him more time, slow the cancer growth and give him time to make peace with his family but Gabby has refused to believe me. She thinks I'm being stingy with my power. She thinks I do not want to heal him because of what he did to Gabriel, due to the fact, I'm her least favorite person. She doesn't take my calls and hardly says two words to me whenever she brings Vicky over to the house. Even Gabriel has noticed the tension between us and has questioned me few times on what was going on between Gabby and I, but I assured him that everything is absolutely fine. Don't get me started on Logan, he disappeared from the face of the earth after our last meeting. I wasn't expecting much from him, but the least he could do was to call me after dropping such silly news to me. Imagine al
