Kalvin sighed as he ran a hand through his damp hair.
He tied his bathrobe and reclined on his couch at home with a tumbler of whiskey in hand trying to sort out his thoughts.
Whatever he expected from today, finding his twin flame wasn’t it.
Kalvin had been genuinely shocked to feel that shortening of breath and see the soft pulsing of light emanating out from both their wrists and the red string coiling from his forearm towards and connecting towards his twin flame.
He had always assumed that he would never find this person.
Why would he- someone with a soul stained by sin- find his destined person when people far more deserving never did?
Somehow, of all people, it was this little brat, bright emerald eyes full of innocence and honesty. He lit up the room with his bubbling laughter and exuberance, full of life and passion.
A shining angel compared to a dark demon.
Yet this was his ‘other half’. A person who was supposed to fill a missing void.
Kalvin had watched him during lunch, fascinated with his wild gestures and expressions that held his thoughts open like a book to be pursued.
This Aian Creeshia surprised him more than once during the brief few hours that they had spent together.
“What’s with that look? Do people normally come and try to leech money off of you?” Aian
asked with a small snort. “Man, you need better friends.”Upon seeing that passion and enthusiasm, particularly when photography came up, Kalvin had decided to buy him a camera to replace the broken one.
Even getting the most expensive one in the store was pocket change to him. He didn’t think twice about it until Aian tried to refuse him.
“What part of ‘I don’t want your money’ did you not understand?”
Who was this person who told him no?
Once he had recovered from his surprise, anger had taken hold.
He had wanted to help, clearly Aian was in no position to get a new one himself. Yet he stood there, glaring up at him with defiance blazing in his jade eyes.
Kalvin sent people scurrying with his own glare and yet this brat was standing there ready to go toe to toe with him over a gift- of all things.
“You aren’t used to people telling you ‘no’, are you?”
Kalvin wasn’t sure what to make of this person who wanted nothing from him.
He honestly couldn’t remember the last time he met someone that didn’t want something from him, be it money, power, or prestige.
The way his twin flame lit up when they walked into that camera shop only confused him further.
Why would you turn down a gift when it clearly meant so much to you?
“I can look after myself. I get that you’re my twin flame but that doesn’t mean you owe me anything.”
He had seen the panic flit across his face as he had called Aian to the register at the store. Seen him open his mouth to protest only to be cut off by Kalvin’s phone call.
Who was this brat that got under his skin in a few scant hours so that already he wanted to possess all of him, give him the world just to see those green eyes light up with pleasure or that fiery stubbornness?
Aian had made it clear that he wanted nothing from him, as much as that confounded Kalvin.
But what did he want from the little raven head?
Twin Flame.
It was in Kalvin’s nature to take and possess but in what way?
The term twin flame was vague and for once, he was at a loss to make sense of his own emotions.
Kalvin sighed. This was not an answer he would find at the bottom of his glass of whiskey in the dead of night.
Not this time.
No, he would need to spend more time with this intriguing person by the name of Aian Creeshia.

Kalvin casually cleaned his gun as he reclined back against a long table.
The dull shine of the metal caught the dim warehouse lights and gave it a satisfyingly menacing look.
“No, please!” the desperate whimper caught his attention and he glanced down at the bloody man cowering at his feet.
He contemplated his choices while one of his men cuffed their captive with an instruction to remain quiet.
The scrawny coward had dared betray him by selling off some of his goods at a much lower price, undercutting the market to get quick sales then pocketing the profits.
Wasn’t his stance on betrayal well known through Ecliprises by now?
His men had roughened him up once he had been captured and then again in front of Kalvin. A number of guards and workers lined the walls, stone faced while they got a reminder about what betrayal meant to him.
If the stupid man had just come forward and said he needed help with financial difficulties, he would have been given help.
Kalvin looked after his own and had many company policies in place to help his staff. The man needn’t have resorted to stealing.
Idly, he wondered what Aian would think if he could see this dark side of him.
Fear? Accusation? Disgust?
Murder, petty crime, drugs, weapons, bribery, rigging stocks, political bargaining, information brokering.
All were things he had dabbled in at one time or another.
Assembling the gun with practiced ease, he relished in the final sounding clicks as everything slotted back into place.
The whimpers at his feet grew louder as he flicked off the safety. His eyes skimmed coolly over the traitor as he leveled his gun to point right between wide, teary and panicked eyes.
They were just wasting time at this point. He had no use for turncoats and betrayal had the same punishment for everyone.
The sound of the trigger clicking was drowned out by the gunshot that echoed around the walls.
A number of his men flinched at the sound even though they expected it. The cowering traitor crumpled to the side as blood painted the concrete floor behind him.
“We are done here,” was all he said.
The thick silence remained as his men filed out of the warehouse and even his right hand man, Blake, had no words right then.
Betrayal always left a bad taste in his mouth.
He gave no other orders, trusting in his staff to take care of the clean up without instruction.
After changing his clothes, he was finally able to leave the warehouse. He dismissed Blake for the evening and made his way to the waiting limo.
It was time to pick up Aian.
As they made their way through the city streets, Kalvin wondered what the evening would bring.Answers hopefully. He wasn’t one to be so uncertain about things.Once he was at Aian’s rather poor excuse for an apartment, Kalvin stepped out of the vehicle to make his way to the door. Thumping footsteps answered his knock before the door was thrown wide to reveal a mop of fluffy midnight black hair which curls up at odd angles and a cheeky grin on his freckled face.“Hi! Um, I just have to grab my shoes,” Aian ducked his head as though suddenly shy. “You can come in for a minute if you want.”He scampered off and Kalvin cautiously stepped inside. A glance around revealed a rather cramped space filled with things of varying quality and usefulness.A clothes rack in the corner, photos covering a wall, and knick knacks on the desk. But it pleased him to see the new camera and accessories all unboxed and splayed out across a little coffee table by the scruffy looking couch. It appeared as th
Aian lay curled up in bed, covers pulled up over his head and arms hugging the pillow he had buried his face in.He had thrown himself in to a cold shower and in to the bed as soon as he got home but even that couldn’t erase his chaotic feelings to the memories of that evening. It was just a kiss, damn it. Well, that wasn’t quite right. That was more than just a kiss. No, it was more of a full blown make out session on the balcony and then again in the limo on the way home.Aian was now convinced that the entire reason that man got driven around in a limo was so he could have his hands free for other things.Like molesting little photographers. Not that Kalvin had done anything entirely inappropriate, although he was pretty sure those huge hands had wandered under his clothes at some point as there was no way his shirt got like THAT on its own. After the breathtaking kiss at the balcony of the restaurant, things had gotten awkward or maybe it was just Aian himself because as he stare
It had been just over a week since Aian's fateful encounter with Kalvin. The businessman had taken him out for lunch twice more since then but something was going on as they were interrupted both times and Kalvin was called away.Aian wasn’t sure if his twin flame having to leave hurriedly was a good thing or a bad thing. He enjoyed spending time with Kalvin, which surprised him somewhat, but each time, the businessman had cornered him and kissed him senseless only to have the interruption occur as his hands were moving under his clothing. And that growl.Oh gosh.A deep, rumbling growl of displeasure from Kalvin greeted the interruptions, and the sound sent heat running through him.Aian was torn. He desperately wanted to know what was the dark promise that lurked in those gray eyes. With all the skill Kalvin had shown with a few kisses and touches, Aian was breathless to know more.Yet he was hesitant, as he knew that whatever happened, all he would be able to do is hold on for the
Finally, Aian began to notice familiar surroundings and the GPS showed not much further to go.He was a little nervous, honestly. It felt way too damn early to be introducing Kalvin to his parents, but apparently, everything to do with Kalvin refused to be taken slowly. He felt like he had been thrown into a whirlwind.“I can’t believe we are showing up in this thing,” Aian said yet again with a groan.“I don’t understand why you are so stressed about this. As I’ve said before, don’t put so much stock in what other people think.”“It’s not what other people think, it’s what my parents will think,” he glanced at him and warned. “You better behave.”Kalvin barked out a laugh at that.“Do I get a reward for being good?”Aian looked at him wide eyed and a blush tinting his cheeks.“Hm? Just where did your thoughts go? Your blush gives you away every time.”“It’s only because it’s you asking that… that my mind goes there,” the young man replied with a pout.“Oh? Do I get another confession
They had managed to escape the grandchild onslaught from Chiyo to be home in time for dinner. It was an event that went surprisingly smoothly and Aian was getting suspicious. His mother was normally as bad as Chiyo for embarrassing him and yet there had only been a few teasing remarks. It wasn’t until it was late and everyone was heading to bed that he realized what he had been missing the entire day.“Your bags are in the guest room and I left towels out for you. Make sure to show K where to find everything. Sleep well, both of you!”Guest room?“Wait, Mom!”“It’s fine dear. You’re a big boy and he’s your twin flame.”“But-!”“Good night!” and with that, both of his parents disappeared off into their own room.“What exactly is wrong?” Kalvin asked curiously as the man watched him with raised eyebrows.“We… are sharing a room.”“And? What’s so wrong with that?”Aian wasn’t looking at Kalvin but he could hear that the smirk was back in place. Why didn’t he realize this sooner?“I just…
When Kalvin woke up again some time later, it was to a hand wandering across his skin.Aian was still tucked up against him but one of his small hands gently explored his body. Fingers trailed across his hip and moved to skim over his lower back.Kalvin didn’t move, not wanting to give away that he had woken up just yet. If he could, he would have been purring under the attention. He wondered how long it would take for Aian to notice the effect his attentions were causing. The hand had moved back across his hip and started to map out his abs when the photographer suddenly tensed.Looks like the boy had finally registered what exactly was poking into his side.Aian pulled away from him and he opened his eyes partway to look into wide jade green eyes.“You’re awake!” his twin flame exclaimed, an equal mixture of alarm and mortification.“Mmm. Don’t stop on account of that, I was quite enjoying the attention.”Ah, the blush on those freckled cheeks was back. Kalvin could see the embarra
Up and freshly showered, they both made their way into the kitchen for breakfast.Aian still looked a little flushed from their earlier activities and Kalvin was feeling rather smug. After seeing such delicious reactions, he was even more eager to get his little twin flame into his bed for an uninterrupted evening. There were so many things Kalvin looked forward to experiencing with him to.Aian glanced back at him before they entered the kitchen and Kalvin flashed him a predatory grin. He was rewarded with wide eyes and a deepening of that lovely blush. He didn't think he would ever tire of that expression. Embarrassed and with just a hint of curiosity lurking in those bright green eyes. He brushed past Aian and stepped into the kitchen."Good morning, K! I trust you slept well?""I did actually," he said with a slight smile at Glyniss. "I’m feeling very refreshed this morning."He pulled out a seat at the little table and gave a nod to Milton in greeting. Aian finally shuffled into
They left Aian’s parents’ house late afternoon and were back in the car on the way home, much to Aian’s clear relief.Glyniss had been not so subtly bringing up living together for the rest of the morning and over lunch. Kalvin had to give her credit for persistence.Aian had been hotly denying her at every turn, saying it’s too early to live together and that just because they are twin flames doesn’t mean that they would cohabitate well. While Aian’s father seemed very passive, Glyniss was not afraid to speak her mind or go after what she wanted and Kalvin could see where Aian got his fire from.It seemed like he inherited quite a lot from his mother.Kalvin had thought she would leave the topic alone after their little chat in the kitchen but apparently, she was determined to convince her son to see this her way.The music suddenly muted as a ringtone sounded out through the car. Kalvin frowned as he pressed a button on the steering wheel to answer the call.“You’re on speaker.”“So
Kalvin’s eyebrows shot up to his hairline and Aian felt his face burn in embarrassment almost at once. “Or not. I mean, if you don’t want to.” “Oh no, since you offered such an intriguing solution, I would love to take you up on the offer,” the older man’s face settled into a very familiar smirk. “But who’s the pervert now, hmm, angel?” Aiangroaned and covered his face with his good arm. His face was still getting redderthat he could feel the burning heat intensifying. “It’s your fault. You made me like this.” Kalvinlaughed at that. “Oh no, I merely brought out your inner desires. But I don’t see why you are getting so embarrassed over this. This is no worse than anything else we have done and YOU were the one to suggest it. I’m not about to laugh at you for your fantasies. I honestly doubt there is anything you would suggest that I wouldn’t do. We are quite matched in that regard.” Aianremoved his arm and stared at Kal
Aianwas ecstatic to be back at the penthouse. Kalvinwould still be around a lot, choosing to spend more time working from home for a few weeks and his security team would be around more to help out physically as well. He was still stuck being wheelchaired around for the next few weeks but at least he wasn’t stuck in a hospital bed. Kalvinwas wheeling him past one of the the spare room when he noticed something familiar through the door from the corner of his eye. “Wait. Hold up, what’s in that room now?” Kalvinstopped in place but didn’t respond. Aiancraned his head around to stare up at his twin flameonly to be met with a blank face. Highly suspicious. “Kal, what’s in that room?” Still no answer. “Wheel me back.” The man seemed to weigh up his options before reluctantly pulling him back so they were beside the door after he asked a second time. Aian
Having been in the hospital for a full seven days, Aianwas itching to leave. Kalvinhad wheeled him outside a few times so he could bask in the fresh air and sunshine but honestly,Aianwanted to go home. It didn’t help that Chadhad been released into Otto’s care yesterday morning, leaving only the three of them in the ward together. Aianwas rightthat sharing the room was so much better than being by himself, though. They had a constant stream of visitors from the security team, both to visit them and to guard the room. He had also met some of Caleb’s and Shawn’s family members, all of whom were surprised to find out who Aianwas. Now he was caught up on all the movies and shows he wanted to watch and had even learneda few new card games as well. But he wassoready to go home. Kalvinsat on a chair beside his bed, reading through a few work documents that Blake
“Hello, Nettie.” “Is that how you greet an old friend, hmm?” she sat down on the chair beside her basket. “Honestly, you haven’t been over to visit for a drink and a chat in ages. I was giving you time to settle down with your little twin flamehaving all your attention but I swear, if he wasn’t your twin flame, he would be your midlife crisis.” “I’m not that old,” Kalvinhuffed out and Aianlooked torn between finding it funny and embarrassing. “If I didn’t know any better, I would dispute that. But it’s not about age, it’s about life experience. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. Hell, I would be behind this relationship all the way, twin flamestatus or not,if it means youget toactually relax and we get to see that you’re a human with feelings. Honestly, I could do with a cute little midlife crisis myself.” She gave a selfdepreciating laugh. “I swear I may as well be married to my restaurant! But you n
Calebstretched. Or at least tried to. He winced as the dull ache sharpened through his body as he moved. His right hand and wrist were encased in a cast and his shoulder was braced as well as possible to stop him from tearing open the bullet wound. The rest of his body ached as though he had been hit by a car, although the force of him hitting the ground wasn’t too far off being the same. He had to admit he was grateful for the Ecliprises-sponsored hospital treatment. Private ward and a room shared just with him and the other two injured guards. On top of that, he had a bed that was actually comfortable and a regular food that was decent. He also had a constant stream of visitors to keep him occupied, his mother with different siblings accompanying her each time and all the security team members had dropped in to say hello and keep them all company. He was surprised when a nurse came in and set up the unmade fourth bed afte
It had been a few days of bleary waking hours and constant naps but Aianwas finally perking up. Unfortunately, with his wakefulness came boredom. He was stuck mostly unable to move and often alone. He thought maybe he could play games on his handheld gaming device but thatalsorequired his left hand. As did trying to hold and navigate on his phone. He had been left with some books but holding them up while trying to turn the pages was awkward and reading on his phone wasn’t much better. He had his headphones on and listened to music but the energetic beat just reinforced how much he wanted to move. And how much he can’t. The worst part was that he could feel The Tug. He had never felt it before but he knew that’s what it was. It was faint, a slight tugging for him to get up and move in a certain direction. He checked on the map on his phone earlier and realizedthat it pointed to Ecliprises. H
Kalvinthanked Blakeas the man handed over a takeaway cup of coffee. He wasn’t sure how many hours he had been sitting in the hospital waiting room but a glance outside the windows showed a faint grey tint to the sky. Morning was on its way. He watched as his secretary handed out cups to the other occupants of the waiting room. Dalesat on his right and Glyniss, Aian’s mom, face pale and drawn, was on his left. A few chairs down sat Caleb’s mother and one of his younger sisters, beside them sat Shawn’s father. Chad’s emergency contact had turned out to be a friend that advised they would pass on a message to his family but had told Blakethat they most likely wouldn’t come, even if he died. Kalvinwasn’t one to pry into the private lives of his subordinates but he found something sad in such a capable and loyal young man being so estranged from his family. Some of themembers of Team Creeshiaalso sat around the roo
Agony pulled him back into awareness and Aiangroggily raised his head to look around. Neviseemed content to let him regain his bearings as he crouched in front of him with a knifeglinting in the light of the room. His eyes zeroed in on the gleaming blade and the insane man chuckled at his reaction. “I told youthat you owe me some fun for making me wait. I’m glad that you are able to stay awake for this. Its far more entertaining this way.” Nevi brought up the knife and set it against Aian’s freckled cheek. He flinched at the feeling of the cold blade digging into his skin but otherwise didn’t move. Closing his eyes, Aianbit the inside of his lip as the blade was pushed in further and dragged across his skin, slicing it open. It wasn’t a deep cut, but enough that he could feel the warm wetness of his own blood oozing out and trailing down his face. The knife was pulled away from his cheek an
The rest of the trip to wherever they were going was quiet. Neviseemed lost in his own thoughts so Aianused the time to gauge his injuries. His right arm was handcuffed to the seatbelt and other than some tenderness, it appeared to be okay. His left arm wasn’t so fortunate, though. It was clearly broken, part of his arm hanging limp at an unnatural angle. The break was in his forearm, a bit before his elbow. He must have landed on that arm during his fall. It hurt like hell. The pain radiated out from the break and seemed to crawl up his arm. Every bump in the road speared new pain through him in an agonizingjolt that had his eyes watering and he bit his lip to stop from crying outloud. Not the time to be a wuss about things now. Aianwas dizzy and could barely feel the rest of his body. He wondered if he had hit his head during the fall too. He must have, surely. Especially considering he blacked out
