Edeline
I must have heard it wrong. Percival got another she-wolf pregnant? Bullshit. That’s not possible, and besides, she's not even part of our pack.
A few wolves murmured, asking if the female was his mate, but no one dared say a word. I walked up to him, closing the space between us, his scent wrapping around me like a vice.
“Pe-Percival… Finally, I found my mate,” I mumbled.
My adrenaline is rushing like a surge of happiness within my body. I wondered if he felt the same. He had to. He smiled at me, a reaction that confirmed it. He knew what I meant to him. He had to.
But then his smile vanished quickly when suddenly the blonde she-wolf held him in his arms.
“Who is she?” he said in a haughty tone.
His once happy expression was now etched with tension. His clenched fists and tight jaw betrayed his feelings, and his bright blue eyes avoided mine, a clear sign of distress.
“I have to talk to her first…” Percival said and was about to walk at me when the blonde stopped him, raising her eyebrows at him. “I said, I have to—”
“Everyone, get back to your houses, now!” the Alpha commanded, dispersing the crowd with a glare that could cut steel. He locked eyes with his eldest son, fury burning in his gaze.
I felt a sharp pang of hurt. What the hell was going on? Why are they acting like this?
As soon as the pack left, Luna Annabel quickly led her inside, but not before giving me an apologetic smile, her eyes filled with sadness. Pity.
What the heck is happening?
Percival tapped Alpha William on the shoulder. “Thanks, Alpha.”
I looked up into my mate's eyes, and now it was just us. His eyes roamed hungrily over my body, taking in every curve. I felt his gaze like a physical touch. My scent was driving him wild, and every instinct in him screamed to mark me. He wanted to, and I could see it. His eyes darkened, a sliver of gold breaking through. His canines slid out, and a delicious shiver ran over my skin.
He held my hand and ran. The world around us blurred as we moved, our surroundings a mere backdrop to the intensity of the moment. His grip was firm but gentle, leading me with a purpose that made my heart race.
We reached a quiet spot deep in the forest, the trees above creating a private hideaway. He turned to me, eyes glowing with a mix of desire. The tension between us was thick, each heartbeat echoing the need we felt for each other.
His hand reached up, fingers brushing my cheek, sending sparks through my body. "I've waited so long for this moment," he whispered, his voice rough with emotion. "For you…"
I leaned into his touch, feeling the warmth of his palm against my skin. "I'm here, Percival…" I replied, my voice barely above a whisper. "I'm yours…"
He lowered his head, his breath hot against my neck, and I felt the brush of his canines against my skin. My pulse quickened, and I closed my eyes, giving in to the sensation. Time seemed to stand still as he pressed his lips to my neck, the anticipation building with every passing second.
But then, he hesitated. His canines retracted, and I felt him pull back slightly. "I messed up, Edeline. We can't... I–I can’t mark you… I’m really sorry..." he muttered, stepping back from me. My smile vanished as I saw him move away, suddenly feeling awkward. The wolf inside me whined in surrender, and my lip quivered. Tears welled up in my eyes.
"Percival, what's the matter? Do-Do you not want to be with me, huh? Tell me…" I asked, my voice trembling and uncertain.
I could feel his pain deep down, like our souls reaching out, almost touching. It wasn't like being connected to someone you're mated with, where you can sense their feelings. It was different, like our wolf sides were trying to match up.
He bit his lip, shaking his head fast. “The Moon Goddess knows, Edeline, I do care about you. If only I knew sooner... We've practically grown up together, and damn right, I'd want you as my mate. You are so perfect. You truly are the best fit to be my Luna…" he whispered painfully, both of us standing just a couple of steps apart. I had to look up at him, seeing the struggle in his eyes, fighting the urge to pull me close.
"But—shit happened, and now it's tearing me apart knowing you're my mate. It's gonna shatter your heart, just like it's shattering mine right now." He closed his eyes tight. "I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry, Edeline." He bit his lip, turning away, unable to look at me. Panic clenched at my heart.
"Wh-why w-what happened? Please, Percival, tell me…" I barely whispered, my voice trembling.
I knew it had fucking something to do with that blonde bitch.
He glanced back at me, full of despair. "I screwed up, Edeline. I couldn't control myself."
His scent reached out to me, urging me to hug him, but I held back, waiting for him to speak.
"The blonde she-wolf earlier… She’s Tatiana and… I got her pregnant. She's having my pup, Edeline. I’m so sorry..." He couldn't look at me.
I let out a loud gasp as pain squeezed my heart. I couldn't breathe, couldn't stand. I fell to my knees, clutching my chest where my heart throbbed. My lip quivered as I kept repeating, "No... No... No… You’re lying!"
"I had no idea, Edeline," he whispered, his voice rough and barely steady. His hands trembled at his sides, his knuckles white from clenching them too hard. "I didn’t know it would be you, or that I’d find my mate so soon." He dragged a hand through his hair, exhaling sharply, his jaw tightening. "She was in heat... I was weak. My wolf took control. I’m sorry—”
“No! Please, Percival… Don’t lie to me… Is there something I did that upset you? I’m sorry but please don’t do this to me…”
"I'm so damn sorry, Edeline…" His voice wavered as we held onto each other tightly. I fought back my wolf, struggling to keep her at bay, while letting him see the depth of my pain.
Tears streamed down my face. I completely broke down, crumpling to the ground and rocking back and forth, crying to the moon with my forehead pressed against the earth.
He dropped to his knees beside me, reaching out with eyes full of despair as he pulled me close. His touch was a cruel reminder of what I could never have. The connection between us crackled with energy, and my wolf urged me to claim him, to mark him as ours
I trusted him. He didn't want things to turn out like this. He wanted me, he really did.
The sensation of his touch sent shivers down my spine, but the ache in my heart was too overwhelming.
"What are you gonna do?" I looked up at him, tears clinging to my lashes.
"I have to do whatever is right, Edeline," he muttered, his gaze filled with pain and desperation.
What's the right thing? What could it possibly be? Taking responsibility?!
“But I’m your mate…”
"I'm sorry. I wish... I wish I could change things. I don't want this to happen, but I'm stuck, Edeline. I'm so damn sorry." His touch trying to comfort me.
But it was too late for that.
I sighed. "What else can we do? It's already there, and you can never escape it... Just go to her," I said. His hand froze on my back, shock written all over his face. He pulled back slowly, watching me as I turned away, unable to bear his tortured expression.
"Edeline, I-"
"Just go, Percival!" I shouted, closing my eyes against the pain. It hurt too damn much.
"I'm sorry…" he whispered one last time before walking away, leaving me there, my heart bleeding out from the hurt he'd just inflicted.
EdelinePercival, my mate. He was my everything, but now he's starting his future with someone else.I snapped back to reality as Darius snapped his fingers in my face. "Edeline! Are you okay?"I tried to shake off the awful feeling inside as my stomach tightened. "Yeah. Yeah. Of course. Sorry. I was just trying to remember what he told me. He said he was sorry, but he had to do the right thing. That's all." The last word came out in a whisper.I felt like I was tearing apart inside and couldn't keep it all in for much longer.Darius's anger flared as he looked out at the water. "That asshole! I'm going to kill him," he growled.I couldn't fully blame my mate, except he should've stayed loyal. A female's heat is something no male can resist, and that night I found my mate and had my heart shattered in minutes. He told me the blonde she-wolf had been tempting him. He couldn't resist.Darius's intense gaze returned to me, focused and hard. "You gotta talk to him. Alone. Ask him what he'
EdelineAfter breakfast, Darius and I took a chill walk along a peaceful river that ran through the woods next to the Packhouse. The morning sun sparkled on the water, and the gentle flow made everything feel super relaxing. We chatted about the usual stuff—pack plans, upcoming events, and a bit of gossip. The conversation was easy, and I felt totally comfortable with Darius.Eventually, we reached a quiet spot by the river where the trees cleared, giving us a stunning view of the cliffs overlooking our territory. Darius paused, looked at me thoughtfully, and said, "I’ve got to head to training soon. I’ll be done in about two hours. Feel free to stick around here, explore, or shift if you want. Just don’t go back to your room, hmm? We can run together later. I promise."He gave me a friendly smile and ruffled my hair before heading back along the river. I watched him go, smiling to myself. The peaceful spot was perfect for some alone time. I settled by the river, dipped my fingers in
Edeline"You won’t?" That single question gave me a glimmer of hope, though it felt too late for that.He shook his head slowly. The way his skin shimmered was messing with my head, making me think I might have a chance with him. But I wouldn’t if another woman was involved.“She’s staying with the Oracle at the cabin with my parents. I’m holed up in a house across the lake that’s not being used. I didn’t want her staying with me because of her wolf, and my dad thought it’d be best if I stayed away from you for now. Being across the lake helps because your scent isn’t always around.”I stared at him in shock. I’d thought she’d be with him. They seemed like they were trying to be a family, like we should have been. Then it hit me.“You’re staying away so your wolf won’t be tempted to mark me, and vice versa?” I raised an eyebrow, feeling a mix of anger and relief. He helped me, but he also broke my heart. The news pissed off my wolf but made me happy in a weird way. I didn’t want to be
EdelineI couldn’t shake off the guilt that was eating at me. The thought of the baby—so tiny and innocent—caught in all this mess was really getting to me. What was going to happen if things didn’t work out? It weighed heavily on my mind, mixing with my own pain and confusion.“Percival... What’s going to happen when the baby arrives?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. He didn’t have a clear answer. The way he breathed out warmed my skin, making it tingle. The sunlight filtering through the leaves made his eyes look even more tired and lost. He seemed so young and worn out at that moment.“She’ll have to take care of the baby while he’s little. I haven’t figured everything out yet, but it seems like the right thing to do,” he said, sounding defeated as he ran his hand through his tousled hair.“Where?” I asked. “I’m not sure. But I have to stay here because I’m going to be the next Alpha. She’ll never be my Luna. Since she’s her dad’s only child, our baby would inherit his la
Edeline I closed my eyes, letting the gentle breeze wrap around me. It was a calming embrace from nature, a quiet moment of peace.I pictured his face in my mind, every detail vivid. Even from a young age, there’d always been this connection between us, a bond I couldn’t ignore. The conversation I’d just had with Percival left me feeling overwhelmed. My mind was a whirlwind of questions, and the weight of my own destiny felt almost too heavy to bear. With that in mind, I figured it was time for my second shift ever.My wolf was getting pretty antsy in the back of my mind, just dying to let loose all that built-up energy. When I saw Tatiana and heard her harsh words, it really got to me. She couldn't get enough of hunting down that pregnant she-wolf and getting back at us, just like before. But I wasn't going to let that happen. It was challenging, but I managed to control my wolf and give her some space to let loose and relax.Percival’s words, though, offered a sliver of hope.“I wo
EdelineShifting always came with a twinge of discomfort at first. My body had to adjust to the realignment of bones and muscles, molding into a different shape. “It’s always a bit painful at first,” I thought, feeling the familiar ache. “But after a few more shifts, it’ll be nothing.”Right after the shift, I lay on the cool grass, feeling the earth beneath me as I gazed out at the world through the eyes of my white fur. Everything felt sharper, more vivid, as if I were seeing it for the first time. But before I could fully take it in, my wolf surged forward without warning, knocking me back in the process. Her energy was wild, almost overwhelming, like a storm barely contained. I could feel her power, restless and eager, threatening to overtake me. I forced myself to stay grounded, to hold onto the center of our shared consciousness, even as she strained against my control. "I can't give her too much freedom," I reminded myself, the thought pressing down on me. "Who knows what she'l
EdelineAfter a while, we shifted back to our human forms. Transitioning from wolf to human is actually smoother than the reverse shift, so I managed to stay quiet this time, avoiding any loud outbursts. Wolves don’t pay much attention to each other’s nudity; it’s a norm for us. Only a mate would react, and Darius wasn’t that.We dressed quickly, and he took my hand, guiding me down the hill through the forest towards the pack house. His voice was soft, almost a whisper amidst the crunch of the forest floor beneath our feet. “So, I heard you had a chat with Percival… He paid you a visit?”I simply nodded. He gave me a look that seemed to say, Keep going.I sighed in frustration, knowing he wouldn’t let it go. “He said he wouldn’t mark her.”“Huh?” Darius’s surprise was evident. He hadn’t realized that detail. As we continued our walk, I filled him in. “Yeah, he’s giving you the whole story. Apparently, she didn’t even know her heat was coming and he couldn’t sense it. Classic mistake
EdelinePercival's wolf was quick to react, standing tall as his brother struggled to rise. Claws dug into flesh, spittle dripped from his muzzle, and teeth snapped with fierce determination. My breath hitched—this was no ordinary fight. Percival, the firstborn alpha son, was proving too strong for Darius. This would easily be one of the most intense wolf fights ever witnessed, if it were real.Percival's right front claw dug into the juvenile’s chest, keeping his weight on him. His long, sharp teeth bit into Darius's shoulder, causing a sharp yelp to escape. It was brutal, and I felt a mix of fear and helplessness. Percival’s anger was palpable; he wanted to harm Darius, to assert his dominance. As the pressure increased, blood oozed from Darius, but he refused to give in or show weakness. Despite knowing he could never surpass his brother, he fought back with a fierce determination. I could see the desperation in his eyes, and it tugged at something deep inside me. Percival was rea
Nixx She gave a reluctant nod, her eyes filled with hurt. I knew it was wrong of me to have hurt her. “Mirabelle... she is pregnant...” The words felt like an electric shock as her eyes locked onto mine. “What?” A small, lost voice asked through the window. “Y-yours?”I nodded seriously, my heart heavy with the weight of the truth. As I looked up to meet her gaze, she took a deep breath. Her face twisted in anger, and she shouted, “Leave!” Her voice was sharp, filled with fury. “I cannot believe this! The moon hates me so much! You will probably mate her... do it so I can be free!” She was practically pleading with me.My face contorted with pain, and my wolf let out a distressed whine. “Tatiana, no! It is not like that!” I tried to explain. “I do not want Mirabelle to be in this position! That night, I made a mistake. I needed her to answer as an oracle, and things went terribly wrong.” I looked up at her, desperate for understanding. “I do not want to trade my mate... you were mea
Nixx The time it took for my wolf to let me shift back into my human form felt like an eternity. In the frenzy of my transformation, I had taken down a large deer, my anger channeled into the kill. The blood smeared across my skin, mingling with the cold air that met my bare flesh. I stared blankly at the back door of my house, trying to collect my scattered thoughts.I quickly dashed up the stairs and grabbed a pair of jeans and a jacket we always kept on the back porch for such emergencies. Tatiana’s face kept flashing in my mind. Before I realized it, my feet were carrying me toward Doc’s office, which was just around the corner. I wondered if William would truly allow the pack to corner him and force him into submission. That was not what an Alpha should be.As I rounded the corner, I saw William’s other Beta forcibly ejecting Tatiana from the clinic. The sight made my stomach churn with disgust and anger. My wolf went berserk. I ran away from the scene, unable to tolerate the mi
Nixx William’s wolf released the defeated male with a forceful shake, sending him scrambling away. With a cold, predatory gaze, William’s wolf advanced toward the next challenger. His massive paws dug into the earth, leaving deep marks as he approached. His scowl and blood-stained teeth made it clear who was in charge. One by one, William’s wolf subdued the challengers. The process was methodical and ruthless—each wolf was pulled down, bitten, and forced into submission until they all lay defeated. The final male, trembling and broken, was similarly subdued. William’s wolf, still fierce and unrelenting, ensured that each of the challengers gave up completely, their wills crushed by sheer force. After an hour of relentless combat, the last challenger lay vanquished. William's wolf surveyed the pack with a sweeping, authoritative glance, ensuring no further challengers remained. Then, with a fluid shift, William transformed back into his human form. He stood on the stage, battered and
William The anger in the crowd surged. My wolf came to the fore, and I let out a fierce roar that silenced the clamor. “Percival will not be put on trial because he did nothing wrong!” I shouted. “Darius should have already been punished for his crimes, and Percival knew this. When Darius attempted to leave with Edeline, Percival, in a bid to protect her, attacked and killed him!”The crowd erupted into confusion and chaos, their questions and doubts mingling with the roar of their reactions.“I have been deceitful,” I continued, raising my voice to be heard over the tumult. “Darius was mentally ill and had committed horrific acts against women from other packs. Luna and I were aware of his condition but kept his true crimes hidden from all of you. Darius was obsessed with Edeline. None of us realized the full extent of his obsession until we uncovered his actions.”I paused, letting my words sink in. “Darius had found his mate—Alpha Reynolds’s daughter. He discovered her in the wood
PercivalI glanced back and forth between Doc and Daisy, a newfound sense of determination settling into my bones. I understood that this journey would be challenging, but I was ready to face it. “When does he arrive? When do we begin?” I asked, my voice steady with resolve.Daisy’s lips curled into a sly smile. “He will arrive tonight,” she said. “You will start your training tomorrow. But until then, it is my responsibility to help heal your soul and soothe your emotions. Drink the tea, Percival. Drink it, and let your emotions surface.”I looked down at the cup in my hands. The tea was still very hot, the warmth radiating through the ceramic and into my palms. I hoped that this tea would offer some comfort, making it easier for me to open up and share my deepest fears. Before my wolf had a chance to take control, I lifted the cup to my lips and took a careful sip. ...William It felt as though time was speeding up, the day slipping away faster than usual. PercivalAs I looked back and forth between Daisy and Doc, my brows furrowed in confusion. Doc, after setting down his tea, continued to explain. "The issue seems to stem from a combination of factors. The emotional turmoil of losing your pup, the recent death of your brother, and the weakening of your mate bond have all contributed. Your attempted suicide acted as a catalyst, pushing your wolf to emerge more forcefully in an attempt to protect you. You are dealing with depression, and your wolf is compensating by becoming stronger and more feral. The absence of your mate exacerbates the problem."Doc’s words made my eyes twitch. I could not help but protest. "I am not depressed. I simply had a moment of weakness. If what you say is true, then why hasn’t Edeline experienced this? She went through a great deal of emotional distress while she was here, and I am sure she was depressed for a while."Doc shook his head, his gaze steady as he looked into my brown eyes. My wolf rumbled uncom
EdelineWe had a brief chat, and she mentioned she had something big to share. I crossed my fingers, hoping it wasn’t about Percival—oh great, just what I needed to hear. But then she dropped a bombshell. She was pregnant with my brother’s pup.Seriously, what is up with everyone getting pregnant lately?!After the call ended, I found myself completely spaced out. My food arrived, and I was so stunned I could barely process what was happening.Mirabelle, you might want to think twice about this decision.…PercivalThe fog over the lake looked like a thick, heavy blanket. The cold, damp air settled around me, and the sky remained a relentless gray, with clouds blocking any trace of the sun. It was that time of year again when fall mornings were always eerily quiet, only broken by the gentle rush of water around the lake.I knew better than to let my presence be known. It was far too dangerous for me to be outside while the wolves were active. There were whispers, and I could almost he
Edeline“Huh? I’ll be good as new tomorrow. I mean, I’m a wolf after all. Just need to sleep it off, and I’ll be back in action,” I tried to reassure him while he started preparing to tape up my ribs.Conor remained silent as he worked. I did my best to stay composed, but I couldn’t help throwing my head back in discomfort. “Oh no! Conor!”I could almost feel him laughing softly. With my eyes tightly shut, I waited patiently as he finished taping me up, nervously biting my lip. His touch lingered a little longer than necessary, a warm contrast against the coolness of my skin.“Alright, I’m finished,” Conor said, clearing his throat and pulling his hands away. I casually put the tape away and rolled my shirt back down.“You’re not going to make me do it again, are you?” I asked, catching the look in his eyes.“Whenever you’re ready. It was only for today…” His eyes held a look of understanding. He could tell it had been a tough day, and his approach had kept me so occupied that I hadn’
EdelineHis teachings are sharp, like the pain, but I still feel like I’m falling short. Almost there, but not quite. There is still such a long road ahead of me before I can call myself a warrior.Alexa was quite the fighter, even though she was still new to this. For about fifteen minutes, we went back and forth. At first, we were just circling each other, sizing each other up. I sat back, patiently waiting for her to make the first move. And she did—throwing a punch my way. I dodged it, countering with a jab aimed at her stomach. But before I knew it, she had me pinned to the ground. It turned into a full-on power struggle. She was on top, but I managed to toss her over my head. Quickly, I straddled her and started landing a series of punches to her face. She was fast, though, picking up speed and turning the tables. We were back on our feet, and I could feel my wolf starting to emerge, pushing me to fight harder. Shoving her away was no easy feat, but I managed it.They rely heavi
