Andera's pov.

He did not come back soon, but he promised and so I waited.

I waited an hour, one hour turned into two, two into three, and three multiplied into six.

Six hours and Thane wasn't back home. I paced back and forth in the living room. Timmy and Tiffany were in their room with Becky, oblivious to the situation at hand. Timmy had come downstairs to ask for his Daddy, his face fell into a sad frown when he learned Thane wasn't back home yet.

I dialed Thane's number again and it went straight to voicemail. “Thane, where are you? Please come back to me.” I whispered on the verge of tears.

Atlas- the bodyguard stationed to watch me and the kids inside the house, finally decided to crack the silence. He had been standing in the corner of the living room for hours; I was too anxious about Thane's safety to wonder how he managed to stay glued to one spot for hours.

“Ma'am, you have to calm down. Your husband went out with one of our best bodyguards. If something went wrong, he

I would hand him over to the police after I'd got the answers I wanted and also deal with him for daring to threaten Andera.“How's your hand?” Mike asked. He had cleaned it up and bandaged it, since it was only a bullet graze. I didn't even know he carried a first aid kit with him, the flesh was sore and burning, not to mention that I would need to have a doctor take a better look at it and treat it properly.“It's fine,” I said as I slipped into the car. Mike would drive us to the basement where they carried out their interrogation work. We couldn't hand him over to the authorities yet, not when I don't know who sent him, as I sure as hell wouldn't take him to my home, so Mike's basement was the safest place.Mike drove in silence. My mind ticked with anticipation; it was a good thing the bullet hit my left hand; I was right-handed, and I could beat the living

Andrea's pov The pen fell from my hands again. " Just sign the goddamn papers, would you? " Mother ordered, eyeing with with disgust as she did. " Andera can't even hold on to a pen, it's not surprising you couldn't hold your husband's heart, too. It's a wonder how my big brother tolerated you this long." Anna hissed. I took a look at the papers spread in front of me, one signature, and I'd be back to the place I was all those years ago. The place of helplessness. " I...I can't. " I stammered. They both groaned. The hate and disgust on their faces was palpable. I know they have always despised me but I couldn't do it. I would rather face their hatred than be alone on the streets. Hot tears trickled down my face; my body convulsed with my persistent sobs. " For the love of God, is that the only thing you can do Andera, cry? Yuck, look at your face; it's covered in snort; you're so disgusting. We don't want you as a part of our family anymore; so just get this divorce over with!

Andrea's pov. Five years later. I slip on my signature shades as I step out from my black Rolls Royce. It protects my sensitive eyes away from the light of the paparazzi's cameras. It's been five years since I left Seattle. Everything is different but somehow, it still feels the same. I've missed it, the people, the air, the vibe. I missed Seattle. That's the second reason why I chose to leave Boston and build my new company here. "Would you like to share your story with the people Ms Campbell? Please do tell us how you reunited with your family." One of the reporters asked, snapping me out of my nostalgic thoughts. My lips curved into a small practiced smile. I've shared the story with the press times without number, and I don't mind doing it every day. The image of my father comes to mind, how he hugged me tightly the day he found me. I was wretched, abandoned, and three weeks into motherhood. I was a nobody, but he gave me so much love there and then my heart nearly burst.

Thane's pov. "It would be unwise to reject this offer," Paul advised. I lean back into my leather seat and read the message from my computer. "Auraspire Energy, a subsidiary of Campbell's Technologies, proposes a comprehensive collaboration to integrate our renewable energy solutions with Renihardt's Infrastructure's expertise. Our partnership aims to establish Seattle as a global model for sustainable urban development, enhancing the city's eco-friendliness, and quality of life...'" The proposal is good. Normally, I would be reluctant to partner with a new company, but seeing as this one is an extension of the renowned Campbell's technologies, I'm assured they're liquid enough to collaborate. My earlier skepticism morphed into fascination. This collaboration could catapult Renihardt's Infrastructure to the forefront of sustainable development. "Our partnership will change the game. And Ms Campbell you've made a compelling case. I look forward to seeing you ." I type and send v

Andera's pov I withdrew my outstretched arm, squaring up to Thane. He may be six foot four, but my boldness is taller, and the heels I'm on give me two extra inches. I don't shy away from his menacing gaze, mine is confident and impenetrable. " Shall we start our meeting, Mr Renihardt, or would you rather we remain standing? " I cocked one brow at him, ignoring his outburst. He drew his head back in surprise and blinked at me. Stunned, Thane? Just wait; you don't know what's coming for you, my dear ex-husband. I smirked. Without waiting for his approval, I took a seat. Rosa sat next to me and the rest of my team followed suit. Thane stood like a statue, with different emotions flicking in those gray eyes. Paul nudged his boss to sit down. The tension in the conference room was so thick, I could slice it with a blunt knife."Thank you for agreeing to partner with Auraspire Energies. " I gave him a sweet smile. " Now all that's left is to discuss the terms and sign both our a

Thane's povI gulped down another shot of whiskey, feeling it burn down my throat. I've been seething since Andera left in her Rolls Royce, swaying those lush hips as she walked past me. I still can't believe Andera is the daughter of The one and only Campbell. Did my father know? Was that why he forced me to marry her after I....? Goddammit!Everything about her has changed. She's confident and sassy and ..... beautiful, with her auburn hair flowing in waves, framing her heart-shaped face and her captivating hazel eyes, polls of green and brown. " She chose me. " I muttered to myself" Sir? " Paul, who had been with me ever since they left, asked." Paul, I think she chose to partner with me to spite me, rub off her wealth and affluence in my face. " I groaned as I set the glass down on my desk." Well, sir, perhaps she chose to collaborate with Renihardt's infrastructure given how outstanding we are. I mean, when it comes to large-scale infrastructure and managing complex construc

Andera's pov.Relief washes over me as I step out of my car. I'm still reeling in the joy from my meeting but I'm also very eager to see my kids. That's right. Kids.Thane knocked me up with two babies! And while I hate him, and would probably hate him till I take my last breath, having our kids is the best thing that has happened in my life. What I felt when I bore them is too profound, to be put into words. It's quiet when I step in, too quiet. "Timmy? Tiffany? " I call out, my eyes scanning the living room. They're both usually here watching cartoons whenever I return. A faint giggle form behind catches my attention, and my eyes land on two little rascals hiding behind the couch. Tiffany tries to stifle her laughter while Timmy puts a finger to his lips, gesturing her to keep quiet.Smiling, I pretend not to see them and play along with their game. "Oh, where could these kids be?" I exclaim, hitting my forehead with my palm dramatically. Tiffany giggles more, and Timmy's face

Thane's pov As I pulled into the driveway, Melissa's enraged voice echoed from the entrance of my mansion. The fucking entrance! God, she's loud. For a moment, I briefly considered going back to me car, putting my car in reverse to get the fuck away from her. " Chill, man, you just postponed your wedding; any woman would be upset. You just have to calm her down " I remind myself as I walk in.Most of the staff's scurry in and out of my room, exchanging hushed whispers and nervous glances. When I walk in, I find Melissa frantically packing clothes, makeup, and other belongings. Some were scattered haphazardly on the floor, I even nearly stepped on her hair dryer. The bedside mirror had a large crack in the middle , with some pieces of shattered glass on the floor. I would have to avoid stepping on those too. I wonder what she must have thrown at it, hopefully not any of my stuff. She came to a standstill when she saw me walk in, her face beet-red with rage." You had no right to post

Thane's povAndera's face paled like she'd seen a ghost. The kids stop trying to catch the butterflies fluttering around. “Andera?” I took two long strides to where she was shaking like a leaf. “Baby, what's it?”She opened her mouth to speak but shook her head and stopped “It...it's...n... nothing,” she says to Timmy and Tiffany. I don't miss the way she tries to hide her shaky hands or nervousness. When Andera looks back at me, her eyes say the words she's afraid to speak. Something is indeed wrong. “Here, sit down.” I lead her to the chair closest to us and sit her down, then I hand her a bottle of water. “Drink this, slowly.”She takes a large gulp, her hand tightening around mine. “Thane.” she whispers “My..my phone. A text. I don't ..” I pick up the phone from the floor. Its screen had gone blind from the fall. “What did the text say?”Andera tries to talk but stutters; I pat her back, rubbing circles over it. “Breathe. Just calm down, whatever it is, we'll sort it out.

Andera's povThe scent of bacon and coffee waffled into my nose, urging me to wake up. I cracked an eye open to meet Thane's disarming smile. “Wake up sleepy,” he whispered and kissed the side of my face. “The morning bells are ringing.”I yawned, smiling at the sight of him. “Can I get an hour more?”Thane sat by my side and pulled the blanket away from me. “Thane,” I grumbled. “It's Sunday. Let me sleep some more; You didn't exactly let me rest after we got back from the restaurant last night.”After last night's successful dinner between my father and Thane, we celebrated in our passionate way. Thane didn't let me sleep until the early hours of this morning, not that I'm complaining or anything.“Eat up, Love, there's something I want to show you.” he stroked my hair, his fingers smoothing the tousled strands. “Can't you show me while I'm in bed?” I asked, trying to sound nonchalant despite my growing excitement.A small chuckle rumbled in his throat. I felt the sound all the w

Thane's pov “I'm not nervous,” Andera murmured. “I am completely relaxed.” she blew out a deep breath. “See, fine.”I swallowed down the laugh working its way out of me. “You're completely relaxed, hun? Is that why there's sweat on your face, even though the AC is on full blast?” I teased, my eyes crinkling at the corners.Andera glared at me, but her face quickly softened when I pulled her in for a hug. “It's one dinner date with your father. How many things could go wrong?” She mumbled something unintelligible, snuggling closer to me “A lot.” Mr Campbell, Andera's father was in Seattle. I know he's not a big fan of mine, Andera had once subtly mentioned that, but despite his reservations, he didn't interfere in our lives- yet“It will be fine, Love,” I assured her. Andera sighed, “How do you know that?”My lips twitched into a small smug smile. “I know because I have my charm. It's impossible to dislike me for long. Look at you, you came around, and so will your father.”An

Andera's pov“Please, Daddy. Pleaseeee”Tiffany begged, giving Thane adorable puppy eyes. If we weren't running late for work and preschool, I would have stood much longer to watch Thane battle with indecisiveness. It was cute to see the refined and powerful CEO of a multi-billion dollar company struggle to say ‘No’ to a nearly five-year-old kid. “Tiffany. You can't.” I said softly but firmly, helping Thane out. His shoulders visibly sagged with relief. This little girl had him wrapped around her small fingers “You cannot wear a tiara and heels to school. It's against school policies.”She grumbled and looked up at her daddy, waiting for him to intervene. Thane shrugged apologetically and offered to buy her a new doll house if she cooperated. “I'm sorry sweetie, but mommy is right. I could, however, buy you a new doll house instead.”Tiffany considered the offer for a beat, before grinning and accepting “Deal?” “Deal”They both shook hands like they had closed a business contr

Andera's povOur partnership was thriving more than I expected. Reinhardt infrastructure and Auraspire Energies were the talks of the town. Rumors had already flown around about me and Thane, but we chose not to address the issue yet. We were happy the way we were. Lazy mornings in bed, afternoons texting each other and giving updates about our companies, evenings with our kids, and laughter enough to make our stomachs hurt, and then, last but definitely not least, nights of passionate lovemaking. We were happy, that was until some certain visitor showed up on Sunday.“I'm sorry to interrupt your...time Sir, but you have some visitors.” Joseph, our butler, interrupted our banter. It was a lazy Sunday evening. Thane and I were nibbling on my homemade red velvet cookies; the twins were with Rosa. She would bring them back in an hour or so. Initially, Thane had been reluctant to let Tim and Tiffy out of his sight, but after much convincing on my part, he finally budged. The kids were

Andera's pov.If my smile widened just a tiny fraction, my face would split into two. Who knew forgiveness could be so refreshing? It's been almost two weeks since I gave in to Thane; that's two weeks of happiness, laughter, love, and...other things.I watched as Thane helped Timmy and Tiffany with their home works. Pencils and crayons were scattered in the living room. As if he knew I was watching him, Thane raised his face and saw me standing at the foot of the stairs. From over here, I could feel the heat that flared in his eyes. “Hey.” he mouthed, his eyes warm. “Hey.” I mouthed back, Thane's eyes trailed over my body. Now that things between me and Thane were more.. cordial, my guard around him dropped. I wore my preferred shorts and tank tops, sometimes -in the privacy of our room, I wore nothing at all. Thane gave me a part appreciating, part promising smile before refocusing on the task spread in front of him. Heat gathered below my spine. I could never get enough of Tha
