Shanice ended the call with Selena, a small smile lingering on her lips. Talking to her best friend always brought her comfort, but today, a sense of unease settled in her chest.

Selena was still confused about the vision she had the other day, and Shanice knew that there was more.

She could not just sit and guess when something in the air shifted. A presence. Her wolf senses were on edge, telling her that she was not alone.

Groggily, she shifted, and her heart raced as she turned to see Caspian looming over her.

He leaned against the doorjamb, his hard eyes on her, blank but probing. His arms folded over his chest, his broad shoulders contracting the already small office still further.

Shanice swallowed, trying to get a grip on herself, but his unflinching gaze disconcerted her.

"That was Selena, wasn't it?" He was speaking low, in a commanding tone.

Shanice was paralyzed, her brain racing. How long had he been standing there? How much had he overheard? And most importantly, how ha

Shanice could feel the weight of Nelson’s piercing gaze pressing down on her, demanding the truth. But she had already made her choice. “I don’t know where Luna Selena is,” she said, forcing the words out as steadily as she could. Nelson’s jaw tightened. He didn’t believe her. His red eyes darkened with suspicion as he leaned forward slightly, his body stiff with tension. “You expect me to believe that?” Shanice held his gaze, refusing to look away. “Yes,” she said firmly. Nelson exhaled sharply, shaking his head. “You’re her closest friend, Shanice. She wouldn’t just disappear without telling you.”Shanice shrugged. "I would've done the same thing if I was her."Nelson raised an eyebrow."She was broken, Alpha," Shanice continued, her voice unwavering. "You rejected her, replaced her, and paraded another woman - your ex, in front of her. And not just another woman; a woman who was pregnant with your child. You destroyed her in ways nobody would have ever known."Nelson's fi

Selena Hayden froze, her breath catching as if the world had suddenly stopped spinning. Her fingers gripped the edge of the examination table. "I... "After all your treatments, all your dedication, it finally happened."A wave of emotion crashed over Selena: joy, disbelief, relief, and a hint of fear all swirling in one chaotic storm. Nelson said the words and headed to the door. The sound of the door slamming after him, echoed through the room like a final, resounding note of despair. Selena stood rooted in place, staring at the space where Nelson had been just moments before. Her chest felt hollow, her hands trembling as her mind replayed his cold words over and over. He had never loved her, and he never wanted their union. Now, here she was, an obstacle that needed to be gotten rid of. This pang in her heart was real, and though it should be sadness, it wasn't. It was anger and betrayal, all mixed into the desperation for answers. How could she have allowed this? How could she have given so much to someone who couldn't recognize her worth? The sound of footsteps returned, and Nelson walked in, his eyes cold as always; ruby-red yet lifeless. "What was it you wanted to tell me earlier?" he asked suddenly, without a hint of warmth in his voice.A harsh, raw laugh was what emerged from her throat. "What do

Selena’s eyelids fluttered open, her surroundings was a sterile blur of white and blue. The antiseptic scent hit her first, followed by the soft hum of hospital equipments. Disoriented, she struggled to sit up, she felt a dull ache spreading through her body. Her hand instinctively moved to her abdomen. “My baby…” she murmured, panic lacing her voice. “Relax, Luna Selena,” a familiar voice said softly. Dr. Shanice appeared beside her, her expression calm but tinged with concern. “You’re okay, and so is your baby.” Selena exhaled a shaky breath, her heart pounding. “What happened? How did I get here?”"You fainted," Shanice explained, pulling up a chair beside the bed. "Caspian brought you here. He found you just in time." Caspian was Shanice mate and the Beta of Snow Mountain Pack. He was also best friend to Alpha Nelson. The mention of Caspian was enough to cause Selena's chest to tighten. Caspian stormed into the Alpha’s office without knocking, his fury palpable. Nelson glanced up from his paperwork, his ruby eyes narrowing at the intrusion. “What is it now, Caspian?” Nelson asked, his voice cold and measured. Caspian was blunt and came directly to business. "Why did you let Selena leave? Why did you push her away like that?" Nelson leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable. "She made her choice. She rejected me.""Don't distort the truth," Caspian growled. "You made her do that, showed off Sarah around and broke her heart and everything, now she's gone. How would you do such to your mate, to our Luna?" His fists curled up at the desk as Nelson hissed, "Selena was fragile, could not put up with Luna's tensions; I needed a better shoulder next to mine."Caspian's eyes blazed with anger. "That's a lie, and you know it! Selena was the best thing that ever happened to you and this pack. She was loyal, had a big heart, and was strong enough to bear your be

Selena’s eyes were fixed on the passing trees, their silhouettes a blur against the dimming sky. Her heart was heavy as she gripped the seat of the car, tears fighting to fall. How did things get this worse? When did Nelson become so hard, so uncaring? Nelson sat still in his seat at the grand council hall, his hands resting on the carved wooden table, his eyes unfocused. Voices droned around him, but he barely heard them. His thoughts were elsewhere; somewhere far from the present. Somewhere lost in the past. The council room was occupied by the six most prominent members of the Snow Mountain Pack, four males and two females, all facing each other in a semicircle. Their duty was to assist the Alpha in administrative duties of the pack.Seated beside Nelson were his Beta, Caspian, and his Gamma, Marcus. They both knew their Alpha was not right, but neither of them said a word. The head of the council, Gareth, a man whose dark hair held flecks of silver and whose face wore the lines of age, cleared his throat. His sharp eyes ran over the Alpha before he spoke."Alpha Nelson,"Nelson did not budge.Gareth's brow furrowed, and he shouted louder, "Alpha Nelson."Nelson blinked, suddenly brought back to reality. His head swiveled arou

Selena’s eyes fluttered open, but nothing was familiar. Darkness wrapped around her like a shroud, cold and suffocating. She tried to stand, but her legs felt heavy, her body swaying unsteadily. Her heart pounding, she looked around. There were no walls, no ceiling, just a seemingly endless space that yawned in every direction. "Where... where am I?" Her own voice echoed back to her, ghostly and hollow.Panic gripped her, wheezing out her breaths in short, shallow gasps. She tried to move, but her legs wouldn't cooperate. It was as if she were trapped, bound by invisible chains. “This isn’t real. It can’t be.” Then, a silver light appeared in the distance, faint and flickering like a candle in the dark. It grew brighter, illuminating the shadows as it moved closer. Selena’s eyes widened, her body frozen as the light approached.A figure emerged, a silhouette framed by the golden glow. It was a woman, her hair flowing like silver silk, her form delicate and ethereal. She moved gr

Selena’s heart dropped as she locked eyes with him. Prince Gregg stood in the doorway, his tall, powerful frame leaning casually against the doorframe. A smirk curled at the corner of his lips, his piercing green eyes gleaming with amusement. "Well, well. I guess I'm the last person on your mind you expected to see right now, by the look on your face." His tone was free, bordering on sarcasm, but his eyes were deep enough to make her shiver.Selena's jaw fell open, but no sound came out. Her heart beat faster, her fists clenched around the armrests of her chair. Why was he here? Does he read minds now? Her mind whirled, panic threatening to engulf her. Gregg shifted away from the doorframe and into the office, his presence commanding the space. He moved with an easy stride, his energy exuding confidence and power. He sat down in front of her desk, his gaze locked on hers.Selena swallowed hard, her heart beating ferociously. She had not laid eyes on him for years, not since she

Selena gripped the phone tighter, her knuckles turning white as the client’s voice grew more impatient. “I’ve been waiting for that building plan for weeks, Ms. Hayden,” the man’s voice was sharp, his frustration barely concealed. “I chose Hendersons Construction Company because of its reputation. Don’t make me regret it.”Selena drew a deep breath and struggled to keep her voice level, her tone calm and professional. "I understand you're upset, Mr. Thompson, and I do apologize for the delay. I assure you, the plan will be on your desk tomorrow morning. We're just tying up a few loose ends to ensure everything is as it should."There was a deep sigh on the other end of the line. "It had better be. I don't tolerate incompetence."The phone clicked and hung up, and Selena sat stiff, her eyes fixed on her phone, her heart pounding. She put it down slowly, leaning back in her chair as she tried to catch her breath. Another close call. She couldn't mess this up, not with her father depe
