Caspian stormed into the Alpha’s office without knocking, his fury palpable.
Nelson glanced up from his paperwork, his ruby eyes narrowing at the intrusion.
“What is it now, Caspian?” Nelson asked, his voice cold and measured.
Caspian was blunt and came directly to business. "Why did you let Selena leave? Why did you push her away like that?"
Nelson leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable. "She made her choice. She rejected me."
"Don't distort the truth," Caspian growled. "You made her do that, showed off Sarah around and broke her heart and everything, now she's gone. How would you do such to your mate, to our Luna?"
His fists curled up at the desk as Nelson hissed, "Selena was fragile, could not put up with Luna's tensions; I needed a better shoulder next to mine."
Caspian's eyes blazed with anger. "That's a lie, and you know it! Selena was the best thing that ever happened to you and this pack. She was loyal, had a big heart, and was strong enough to bear your betrayal. And what did you do? You threw her away for Sarah, a woman who's only here to serve her own interests!"
Nelson sprang from his chair, looming over the space. "Enough, Caspian! You don't understand the decisions I have faced!"
"No, Alpha Nelson," Caspian said, his voice unrelenting, closing the space between them. "It is you who don't understand. Your pride and arrogance have blinded you. You will one day realize how terribly wrong you've been. And by then, it will be far too late."
For a moment, Nelson's façade slipped, and a spark quivered in his ruby eyes; in the same breath, it was masked as he looked away.
Caspaian shook his head in utter disgust.
"You are a coward, Alpha Nelson, and you don't deserve Luna Selena."
"Caspian!" Nelson yelled. "Don't forget your place, damn it! I'm still your Alpha."
Caspian forced himself to calm, even though his blood was still boiling beneath his skin.
He simply bowed and exited the room.
Meanwhile, Shanice was in her office at the hospital, sorting out some patient files. She took a moment to glance at Selena's medical file, her heart aching for her friend.
She had promised to keep Selena's pregnancy a secret, knowing how vulnerable she was.
The door creaked open, and Shanice looked up to see Caspian enter, a scowl still etched upon his face.
"Hey babe, you okay?" she asked, trying to keep the quake out of her voice.
"I needed to cool off," Caspian muttered, running a hand through his hair.
He noticed the open file on Shanice's desk and froze at the sight of Selena's name.
"What's that?" he asked, stepping closer.
Shanice reached to shut the file, but Caspian was quicker.
He whisked it up and started reading, his eyes growing wider with every word.
"Caspian, give that back!" Shanice pleaded, her voice rising.
"Selena is pregnant?" Caspian said, his voice full of incredulity.
He flipped through the pages, confirming what he had read. "She's carrying Alpha Nelson's child?"
Shanice lunged for the file again, desperation in her eyes. "Caspian, please. You weren't supposed to see that."
"How could you keep this from me?" Caspian thundered. "This changes everything. Alpha Nelson needs to know."
"No!" Shanice yelled, trying to cut him off. "Selena trusted me. She doesn't want him to know. She's trying to move on, and this will just bring her more pain."
Caspian's jaw set. "Pain? She's already in pain, Shanice. And Neslon, he has the right to know what is going on, no matter what Selena wishes."
Shanice shook her head and her eyes overflowed with tears. "I promised her, Caspian. Please, just don't."
But Caspian was resolute.
His body began to shift, his muscles rippling as his wolf took over. He turned into his wolf, the figure tall and scary.
"I'm sorry, Shanice, but I can't stand by and let this lie continue."
Caspian snatched the file in his jaws, bolting out of the office in a blur of silver fur and raw determination.
"Caspian!" Shanice yelled after him.
Grabbing her car keys, she ran toward her car, trying to reach him in time.
Nelson was in his office when Caspian entered, bursting through the door still in his wolf form.
Nelson raised an eyebrow as Caspian returned into his human form and held the crumpled file in his hand.
"What now, Caspian?" Nelson growled.
Caspian tossed the file onto the desk. "Read it," he said, his tone low and even.
Nelson's brow furrowed as he opened the file. His eyes scanned the words, his face growing harder.
When he got to the close to the bottom page, his breath hitched.
"Pregnancy test… positive?" Nelson muttered, shock etched in his voice.
He looked up at Caspian, his ruby eyes wide. "You mean Selena is pregnant?"
"Yes," Caspian said. "She's carrying your child."
Nelson's mind was reeling, with waves of emotion crashing over him, shock, confusion, and something he couldn't quite put a name to.
The door opened before he could settle the revelation, and Vanessa sauntered into the room.
Her sharp heels clicked on the floor as she made her way toward Nelson.
"What's going on?" Sarah asked, her voice dripping with feigned concern.
Nelson's hold on the file tightened, his knuckles white. "This does not concern you, Sarah. Leave us."
Sarah's eyes narrowed. "Oh, but it does. When it involves you, Nelson, it involves me."
She leaned over his shoulder, her gaze landing on the file. Her eyes widened, and a bitter laugh left her lips.
"She's pregnant? How convenient."
Vanessa's voice was venomous now as she whirled on Caspian. "And you brought this to him? You really think this changes a thing?"
Caspian ignored her, his gaze fixed on Nelson. "You have to do something, Alpha. This isn't just about you any longer. Luna Selena is carrying your child."
Sarah's face screwed up into a sneer. "Oh, please. She's no longer Luna. Are you son dumb to understand that?"
She turned to Nelson. "Selena rejected you, remember? She is no longer part of this pack. That child is irrelevant. I'm here for you baby, carrying your child, the true future of this Pack."
Nelson’s head snapped up, his ruby eyes blazing. “Enough, Sarah!”
The room fell silent as his voice echoed.
Sarah blinked, taken aback by his uncharacteristic outburst.
Scanning the file again, Nelson’s hand trembled as he whispered, “You mean Selena is pregnant?”
His mind reeled, the words on the page, confirming Selena's pregnancy screamed at him with relentless finality. She was pregnant with his child, a truth he had never expected, nor knew how to process. "Why didn't she tell me?" he whispered, his voice shaking with repressed emotion. Caspian stood close by, arms crossed over his chest, his face shadowed with disappointment. "Do you honestly not know? After everything you put her through, why would she trust you with something this important?"Nelson's eyes snapped up, flashing ruby red in anger. "She had no right to keep this from me! That's my child!" Caspian snorted, taking a step closer. "Your child? You made it crystal clear you did not care about her. You humiliated her, pushed her away, and now you have the audacity to demand rights? Maybe you should look in the mirror, Alpha."The tension was thick in the air. Shanice, bursted in a moment later, stood to the side, her face pale but determined. She had tried to stop him from
“Congratulations, Luna Selena,” Shanice Loman said, her voice warm and tinged with excitement. She slightly leaned forward. “You’re pregnant.” The words hung in the air, surreal and heavy. "After all your treatments, all your dedication, it finally happened."A wave of emotion crashed over Selena: joy, disbelief, relief, and a hint of fear all swirling in one chaotic storm. Tears pricked her eyes as she whispered, "After all these years of trying. I'd almost given up on hope.""I know how much this means to you," Shanice said, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "Your patience and resilience has finally paid off. You are finally going to be a mother, Luna Selena."Shanice was the pack's senio
Nelson said the words and headed to the door. The sound of the door slamming after him, echoed through the room like a final, resounding note of despair. Selena stood rooted in place, staring at the space where Nelson had been just moments before. Her chest felt hollow, her hands trembling as her mind replayed his cold words over and over. He had never loved her, and he never wanted their union. Now, here she was, an obstacle that needed to be gotten rid of. This pang in her heart was real, and though it should be sadness, it wasn't. It was anger and betrayal, all mixed into the desperation for answers. How could she have allowed this? How could she have given so much to someone who couldn't recognize her worth? The sound of footsteps returned, and Nelson walked in, his eyes cold as always; ruby-red yet lifeless. "What was it you wanted to tell me earlier?" he asked suddenly, without a hint of warmth in his voice.A harsh, raw laugh was what emerged from her throat. "What do
Selena’s eyelids fluttered open, her surroundings was a sterile blur of white and blue. The antiseptic scent hit her first, followed by the soft hum of hospital equipments. Disoriented, she struggled to sit up, she felt a dull ache spreading through her body. Her hand instinctively moved to her abdomen. “My baby…” she murmured, panic lacing her voice. “Relax, Luna Selena,” a familiar voice said softly. Dr. Shanice appeared beside her, her expression calm but tinged with concern. “You’re okay, and so is your baby.” Selena exhaled a shaky breath, her heart pounding. “What happened? How did I get here?”"You fainted," Shanice explained, pulling up a chair beside the bed. "Caspian brought you here. He found you just in time."
