Chapter 8 The Perfect Wedding Gift

This is the first time I've ever witnessed Joziah looking so utterly defeated in my two lifetimes.

However, I didn't feel the least bit sorry for him. In fact, I felt deeply satisfied with how things had turned out.

"I've only betrayed you once, and you're already crumbling? What about all those years when you forced me to apologize to the real culprits? What about the times you've compensated them and made me thank you for it? Did you ever stop to think about how humiliated and disgusted I felt?"

His face twisted with guilt. "Jasmine deceived me. She tricked me into thinking you were the one at fault."

I scoffed. "No, Joziah. The problem lies in your lack of trust in me. You've never trusted me even once. You've never bothered to consider how I felt. Stop making me sick. If you keep this up, I won't hesitate to add more fuel to your bonfire there."
