CHAPTER NINETY-SIX

ELARA

I stood in the hall where a few other maids were also present. The room was a little crowded. It was noisy as well.

There were whispers and chattering and also laughing all over the room. The maids were obviously anxious, nervous, and a little excited about the screening.

My face was buried to the floor. I didn't speak to any of the maids, and none of them tried to get friendly with me either.

I saw a glass shoe step into the hall and slowly lifted my eyes to the shiny black gown that was adorned with glittering silver. As I lifted my head slowly to meet the face of whoever it was, our eyes locked, and I immediately swallowed hard.

"Constance," I called, in a whisper as I folded my fist into a blow.

Anger began to swirl inside me. Behold the sight of the woman who destroyed my whole family and killed me. I widened my palm and tried to keep a straight face.
