As long as Benedict secured the North Suburb land, the Page family would cover his debts. But I wasn’t a housewife, and he grossly overestimated the power of the “Mrs. Page” title.

He conveniently ignored everything I had done for him.

Before the auction, I heard another rumor: Benedict had been detained for a week after getting into a brawl with a wealthy businessman, supposedly over Yancy. The story even trended online for a while before being quickly suppressed.

A close friend, linking arms with me, was laughing so hard she could barely speak.
