Chapter 6 Friends

                   Raj pov

   I wanted to go to someplace for our honeymoon but Sujata was adamant to live with my family, which she never had. I had also left the topic as I would be going to visit my Mumbai house, accordingly we can have our honeymoon. Unexpectedly I heard Sujata calling my name. "Sweetheart you are calling me?

 "Yes, dear." Sujata replied."There is a courier for you. I think these are papers you were waiting for".She handed him a package.

"Let me see it. Yes, you are right, I need to sign them urgently."  Raj opened the package and found some important documents that needed his signature.

"Why don't you both go out for some time. Raj, you are always busy with your work. Why don't you take her and show her around." Rajini spoke in an angry tone.

" Ma let me finish it.  The sooner I finish I will go to Mumbai with Sujata.   When I will return, I will call you and Simmi to Kolkata as by the time her results would come and she can take admission to the college of her choice. I think you are happy ma." He spoke, laying his head on Rajini's shoulder. She caressed his head lovingly.

"Although I don't want to leave this place but would be happy to be with you all," Rajini spoke in a rather gloomy tone.

    After a week Sujata came to Raj and said" I have heard a lot about the sunrise of Darjeeling. I want to see it" 

"Okay, be ready tomorrow morning we will go but be sure to get up early in the morning," Raj plops his head on the nape of her neck and starts kissing.

"Please leave me, someone will catch a glimpse of what we are doing.".Sujata kept her hand on his chest and pushed him. He was too strong for her.

"No one will see Simmi is in college and ma has gone to Khanna uncle's house"  Raj hugged her tightly.

"Who is Khanna uncle?" Sujata lifted her head and asked him.

"He is Papa's friend and aunty and ma are best friends. Also, it was dad's wish to marry Simmi to uncle's son Sanjay.  Don't waste time, let's move to our room."Raj pulled Sujata towards their room.

There they made love and after making love they slept. Raj woke up with a loud knock on his door "coming, "he shouted. 

"Why are you shouting,  Raj ". Sujata spoke with her eyes closed.

"There is someone on the door, go to the washroom and change. Meanwhile, I will go and open the door. " Raj said while dressing himself decently.

"Ma, when did you come from uncle's house and you are here? Did  something happen?" Raj gave a questioning look to Rajini.

"About an hour ago I returned. It is lunchtime hence the thought of calling you both for lunch. Subsequently, I want to talk to you about something important. Both of you come down and we can talk there while having our lunch. I'm famished ". Rajini's stomach grumbled as if agreeing with her. 

"We are coming, just give us five minutes". Raj nodded and went back, closing his door. Sujata was ready.

Hand in hand they both descended the stairs. The table was full of Sujata's favourite dishes and she was overwhelmed. She just ran and hugged Rajini.

 "Thank you ma I was never treated with so much love." They started devouring the delicacies in front of them. They realised Simmi was not there.

   "Where is Simmi, ma? She will not have lunch."

"She has gone to meet her friend and will come in the evening."

"Ma, you want to discuss something?" 

"Yeah, I have transferred my shares in the company in the name of Sujata as a wedding gift from my side" Rajini explained about the topic she wished to explain.

Sujata interrupted in-between,

"ma what is the need of it I just want your blessings "

" I know that beta (child) but I wanted to. I have not transferred all shares in your name and kept some for Simmi which I will give when she marries Sanjay. Enough of talking, go and rest for some time."

"Ma, tomorrow morning we are going to watch the sunrise. Sujata wishes to watch it. Later I will go to meet some of my friends. Sujata is not accompanying me as all men meet up." Raj got up from the table and hugged his mother.

   " That is great. Have fun." Rajini fiddled with Raj's hair. After kissing Rajini's forehead, Raj went to his room to join his wife.

  "Raj ". He jolted on the stairs when he heard someone calling him. He turned to find his childhood buddy Sanket was standing. He descended and came near him.

  " Now, you have got time to meet me? Where were you and why didn't you turn up for my wedding?" Raj playfully smacks his friends arm.

   " Sorry. I was stuck up. You know I would not miss the chance to attend your wedding. Do you have shame? Will you introduce me to bhabi? " Sanket made himself comfortable on one of the couches. Raj asked Sujata to join them. They joked, chatted and had fun throughout the afternoon. Soon they were joined by Simmi and Sanjay. 

    In the evening, the party strolled out to enjoy the beautiful evening sky which was painted with the hues of orange with a tinge of grey and purple. They then went to a nearby diner and had their dinner. It was getting late so they dispersed. 

   "A day well spent." Thought Raj while strolling back to the mansion with his pretty ladies. Simmi was walking in front of them. There was a sharp curve ahead. Simmi didn't realise and the night filled with Simmi's agonised scream.
