Chapter 7 Fell Down

They ran towards the cliff, wherein they found that Simmi had slipped and fallen. She was rolling towards the edge of the cliff. Raj rushed and caught her before she would fall off the cliff. 

 " Simmi, are you alright." Raj's voice was laced with concern.

" I think I have twisted my ankle. How will I go home?" Simmi's voice cracked and tears welled due to pain. 

    Sujata and Raj helped her to stand and adjusted her arms on his shoulder but she flinched. She was unable to stand Raj scoping her in his arms and carried her home. Sujata massaged the affected area with the therapeutic gel on her feet. They then tucked her in bed and went to sleep.

       The next morning Sujata woke up early, after changing into a tracksuit Sujata went to make tea for both of them. Then she woke Raj. Both of them got ready and went to Tiger hill to watch the sunrise. It was very cold there.

"Would you like to have some tea ?" Raj rubbed his hands together to keep himself warm.

"Would love to" Sujata tucked her hands in her jacket pocket.

       As they were having tea the colour of the sky started changing it was looking mesmerizing, Sujata was unable to take her eyes from the view the rays that were falling on Kanchenjunga were looking so beautiful, it was looking as gold was spread on the hill, the sky was full of beautiful colours of the rainbow. The sun came up the horizon and lit the world with its rays.

 After spending some more time they return. As soon as they arrived they saw a table full of morning delicacies aloo paratha, corn sandwich, cake, chutney and coffee.

" Good morning bhai, come and have breakfast I'm just famished waiting for you both" Simmi complained.

" Don't complain, doll, we are coming there only. How is your foot?" Raj bent down to have a look at her feet.

"It is better. Bhabhi's massage helped. The swelling has subsided." Simmi replied to her brother's concern.

" That is great. You are my doll and nothing changes it, even if you are married. I have full right to be concerned about you." Raj side hugged her.

" Bhabhi, how was the sunrise? " Simmi asked excitedly.

"It was so beautiful I just loved it. It was a mesmerizing view" Sujata's eyes lit with the remembrance of the view.

"Stop talking, everyone and have your breakfast and Raj by what time will you return." Rajini joined them at the table.

"I will return in two-three hours. It is not far off where I'm going, just round the corner. Do you remember ma, the coffee shop there, we used to hang around when we were in college.  I will walk there as it is just a ten minutes walk." Raj sat on the head of the table.

 "Be careful, the corner has become too dangerous these days. Due to the weather, a lot of landslides are happening. It is quite lonely." Rajini's voice was laced with concern.

"Don't worry, I will be careful. But why were you asking?" Raj nonchalantly spoke.

"I was going to a lunch party with my friends and Simmi is going to college hence Sujata would be all alone"

"Don't worry ma I will be fine and I'm feeling sleepy so will go and sleep for some time" Sujata spoke for the first time.

"Ok beta, I hope you will not feel bad." Rajini left the topic. Sujata acknowledged it with a nod

" Sweetheart, I think I should drop the idea of going," Raj whispered in a low tone so that only Sujata could hear. Hearing this Sujata's cheek turned red.

 " I will try to wrap up things early and will come in an hour." 

"Bhai wants to spend alone time with bhabhi," Simmi said while moving away from Raj as he could just hit her on this remark. 

"Bye bhai bye bhabhi and ma",               she said running from there.

Raj got up to leave, "bye dear wife and bye ma, enjoy your lunch." 

"Sujata why don't you go and rest as I'm also going to get ready and will leave in half an hour." Rajini caressed her head lovingly and held her arm. Both went to their respective bedroom. 

     After some time Sujata gets up to check that nobody is in the house then she sneaks through the fire exit which Raj has shown her earlier and told her that not many people knew about it.

Instantly she reaches the place where Raj has been. After making sure that Raj is all alone she reaches near him.

"Hi beautiful, did you have your beauty sleep" Raj pulled her in a hug and pecked her forehead.

"Hi, handsome yeah I had the beauty sleep I was all alone so thought to check on you" Sujata put her hands on his chest and lifted her hand while fidgeting with his shirt button.

"I got free some time back but I love this place's serenity and peace so thought of spending some alone time here" Raj caressed her palm that was on his shirt.

"I agree this place is quite peaceful and beautiful. Why don't we descend a little down and then see the beauty of this place." Sujata grabbed her hand and tried to move.

" You know I can't, I have a fear of looking down. I feel dizzy when I look down" Raj pulled her back as he was afraid of heights.

" Please come na I will catch your hand and help you then you wouldn't have to look down please," she said with an innocent puppy look.

" Ok but don't leave my hand" Raj was unable to deny the request of his newly wedded wife.

       They started moving down, all of a sudden Sujata pushed Raj and he fell, unexpectedly he caught hold of a branch and shouted from there "Sujata please pull me up I'm feeling dizzy please help me else I would die." Raj started panicking and shouting.

" Raj you may go to hell I'm least bothered I won't help you, I want you to die, it is my revenge, now I'm going I don't want to be caught." With that, she sneaked and went back.

     A handful of passing tourists heard Raj's cries and they were trying to help him, but by the time they could do anything the branch broke and Raj fell into the valley.
