24. Barriers

My brow’s furrow as the memory shifts into a different room that is decorated similar to my mother’s office, but the curtains are dark red, and the atmosphere feels cold and angry.

“Dagon!” my mother screams in rage, standing over him as she holds her hand out, strengthening her aura as she forces him to his knees in front of her, in the center of Aunt Diana’s office.

“Addy get behind me,” Jyrki snarls, pulling me further behind my mother as I stare at my Aunt Diana’s lifeless body lying on the floor in a large pool of her own blood.

“No! Aunty Diana! What did you do?!” I screamed at the man who is supposed to be my uncle, as her blood drips down his hands from clawing out her throat and heart.

“Jyrki get her out of here!” My mother instructs as she steps closer to Dagon, leaving a short distance between them. “No, don’t you dare!” I slap my mate as he tries to pull me from the room, and the door bursts open, revealing my very angry father.
