They were driving for a long time and Janet was getting bored with curiosity.
“How far the place is?” Janet finally couldn’t stop herself from asking.
“We will reach there in 10 minutes,” Ben replied.
This road was familiar. She remembered coming here with Edwin once.
These roads went to the seaside restaurant they visited that day.
Janet could never forget that day because that was the time she first realized how much she loved Edwin.
That day spent with him would forever stay engraved in her mind.
She would always cherish those moments.
“We are here,” Ben said, and noticing this was the same place she was thinking about she was surprised.
“What are we doing here?” Janet asked with a puzzled look.
“That you need to find out because my duty ends here,” Ben said with a smile and when Janet walked out of the car, Ben was still sitting inside.
“Let me see your ring,” Elisa said excitedly. The next day, Janet and Elisa were sitting in the living room and Elisa was asking her about her proposal.“Here,” Janet forwarded her hand and Elisa rubbed the ring with a frown.“Why it’s so small? How petty, Edwin.” Elisa mocked Edwin who was cooking in the kitchen.“I like it, though. I never wanted those big dazzling things.” Janet spoke out and Edwin smiled hearing that.“Don’t save his money. He has a ton to spend. How could he buy you a cheap ring? The price of the ring expresses how much he loves you.” Elisa said and Janet chuckled, hearing her explanation.Elisa didn’t know this was the ring she was once looking at when they went shopping. She was surprised when she saw these rings. She didn’t know he noticed that and bought the same ring for her.“Do you know how much this rin
“Elisa, I think it’s enough for today,” Janet said tiredly. But when had Elisa become tired of shopping?“You have so much left to buy, how can this be enough?” Elisa said while entering another shop excitedly. They were shopping for their engagement party, and Elisa had been on it since themorning, but Janet was exhausted. Her feet were killing, and she was feeling dizzy.“Elisa, I am serious. We can come again,” Janet finally said and Elisa turned to look at her.“I am so sorry. I forgot you are pregnant.” Elisa said, and Janet sighed.“I am famished,” Janet whined and Elisa decided to feed her first before returning home. They walked inside a restaurant and ordered their lunch.“Can you wait here? I will take a walk to the washroom,” Elisa asked, and Janet nodded.Elisa walked away while Janet sat there and was waiting for Elisa
It was finally their engagement day,Edwin was busy with all the arrangements. Even in his busy schedule, he was trying to take care of Janet.Janet has changed a lot in this month. She was getting too overbearing, even if anything didn’t go according to her, she was throwing tantrums.Everyone was on the edge afraid that she would flare up anytime and make a scene. If anyone had been in Edwin’s place would have beenfed up with her.But Edwin was getting more understanding. He was trying to cope with her tantrums and even when she was getting irresponsible; he was trying to fulfill his demands.Like now.Janet was throwing a tantrum because according to her, the dress she was going to wear was showing her baby bump too much.According to her, she looked horrible when she was the one who chose this dress in the first place. It was already time for theparty and she didn’t let any
They were standing in the morgue where the body was kept. The police were standing there for help, and when Edwin walked toward them, they showed them a packet.“These were the belongings we found in thevictim’s body,” the policeman said.Edwin took the packet and when Elisa noticed the ring inside the packet she started crying.“This is the same ring Janet was wearing. It was her engagement ring,” Elisa could recognize that ring.Even when she was not in her sane mind, she had never put this ring off.According to her, it was her proof of love.“Where is the body?” Edwin asked in his cold voice.Though the ring was a shock for him, he wasn’t ready to believe it was Janet.“The face was distorted; I don’t know if you could identifyit.” The policeman said. They walked toward the body and when they removed the cover Elisa looked away.
Five years later,Janet was sitting in her beach chair, basking in the sun, while watching her children play in the sand. They lived in a house that faced the sea, and this place wasn’t in the city. But Janet loved how calm and peaceful this place was. There was no hustle or crowd of cars, and they could only see a few houses far away.Janet often sat here while her children came out to play, but she rarely socialized with her neighbor. Her children and husband were the only people with whom she had some conversation, and she was content with that. It’s been five years. She couldn’t believe she would finally have this happy life. Her child has grown up well when she couldn’t give them the love a mother should give them. She still needed to fight her depression, but her husband has been managing everything well.On one side, taking care of the children despite his hectic job and her constant deteriorating health was another trauma for him.She was now Ok, but she did not know how long i
Janet tucked them inside the bed and walked out of their room slowly closing it behind her.All the time she was walking inside their house William was standing at the door. But Janet didn’t walk out like always. She was their mother, and she wanted to make up for the time she had lost with them even if William opposed that. When Janet reached her room, she walked to the door and turned around.“I think you can leave me alone now. I won’t hurt your children.” Janet said before closing the door.“Janet, I didn’t mean that,” William said, knocking at the door, but Janet didn’t open it.Because she knew he meant exactly that. It’s been three years since she was back home. She was always looking at her children but she couldn’t love them as a mother. William was constantly on her back looking after her in the name of taking care of them. But now it was getting on her nerves. She was their mother, she could never hurt them, or can she?It was the time when Janet returned home. The doctor h
Edwin woke up and checked his emails. When he didn’t notice the email, he was expecting; he called the person.“What about the clue you were talking about? Why there wasn’t any news yet?” Edwin asked the person when he received the call.He was the detective Edwin had hired to find Janet.“Boss, we checked, but it was another dead end. Why don’t you believe that lady? Maybe she was telling the truth.” The man said, which angered him.“I am not paying you for telling me rubbish. If I hear this nonsense again, you will have the same fate as hers,” Edwin said, and the man gulped afraid.“I will search again,” the man said hurriedly, and Edwin cut the call and threw the mobile away angrily. It’s been five years and if anyone would be in his place, he would have lost hope. But Edwin was still searching for Janet.Even a single hope made him anxious, but his hope always died when they couldn’t find anything the next day.He didn’t know how could she disappear like this, but he still hoped h
“Elisa, that’s enough. I won’t tolerate your tantrums anymore,” Edwin said in a scolding tone, but Elisa wasn’t someone who admitted defeat easily. Her pregnancy had added to her stubbornness, and over that, she had become crafty nowadays.“Edwin, it’s open space. What would happen if I go there?” Elisa argued.Elisa was adamant to visit the project site when Edwin wasn’t ready to take her.The construction was ongoing, and it wasn’t a safe place to visit.“Elisa, that’s not open space. It’s a project site. It’s dangerous,” Edwin tried to make her understand. They landed here last night and Edwin wanted to sort this matter as soon as possible so that he could return to Sydney.Early morning they woke up and sat together to finish their breakfast to start their work. But somehow Elisa woke up hearing their voice and now she wanted to join them.Edwin and Ben both oppose her tagging along.“Ben, tell him I will stay careful. I am not a child,” Elisa whined like a child.“Why would I? I a
