I found her around one of the bonfires. She was sitting on a bench with a dozen of the kids from the pack, including Cooper. Cooper was on her lap and the other kids were scattered around her listening intently as she told a story. I couldn’t help the pride I felt watching her. She fit in so well here and I still couldn’t believe she was mine.

As I approached she saw me and seemed to know it was time. She placed Cooper on the bench with the kids and walked to me. I took her hand and we made our way towards the make shift stage that we always had set up for meetings.

I stood on the stage alone with her to the side in the crowd at first. Rogue first, mate second was the order of announcements tonight. I cleared my throat and the grounds slowly went quiet. 1400 sets of eyes were on me and I waited another beat for the kids to stop chattering as well.

“Welcome everyone, thank you for coming to this barbeque. The food h

“Beta Ricci, its good to see you,” Alex said as he shook his hand. “We were expecting your alpha…” He trailed off at the end, leaving room for the explanation he clearly was expecting. I could feel his aura radiating power, he was pushing it out more than usual and it was domineering. I felt myself get hot just feeling him show off a little. The beta cleared his throat, clearly the three alphas surrounding him was getting to him, my alpha in particular. “Alpha Lorenzo send his regards, they had planned to come but the Luna got sick at the last minute. She is in the last few weeks of her pregnancy and didn’t feel well enough to travel so he sent me,” Ricci said while he wiggled his fingers at his side. I watched him carefully and felt like he was lying about something, hiding something. Alex, Garcia and Schmidt showed the same concern on their faces. “Ah, well that is un

{ Raine } It has been 2 weeks since the barbeque. The day following the Alpha from France arrived and the meeting was held between the 5 of them. I learned from my mate afterwards that the rogue attacks here were the smallest of them in the European area. The other packs were getting attacked even more often than us and they agreed, it wasn’t the usual type. They were organized and seemed to be testing our borders, our protection. Our pack was the most protected with the most warriors so we hadn’t had many issues yet. The smallest packs were having the largest trouble, some had even lost members. I watched as my mate was drawn into full Alpha mode. This was a big problem and he went into protective mode. After the meeting Alex and Car packed bags and headed out to Germany with Schmidt. From there they checked in on smaller packs including England, Austria and the few select others that we hadn’t gotten correspondence back from. The large

I said goodbye to Anna and headed to find Nel. He was out at the training grounds along with about half the pack. Ever since word of how big this rogue problem is got out the pack members have stepped up their training. The few who had only taken beginner were now in the advanced class working on attack moves and Nel had created an elite training class for the top warriors to advance even more. I had watched as this pack went into potential war mode, and while it didn’t look a ton different from the grand scheme of things, the overall moral and little details had changed it was a different air around. “Hey cuz,” I said as I approached him. This was his favorite greeting for me and it had rubbed off on me. “Hey!” he said cheerily. He was sitting under a tree drinking a water and watching the top warrior who they all properly nicknamed Tank, leading the elite class for the afternoon. “Are you free for about 10 minute

{ Raine }Fury filled my veins as his voice filled my ears. It wasn’t his voice as much as what he had dared to call me. I tensed in my grandmother’s arms and I heard her apologize about a dozen times straight into my ear.“I tried sweetie, I tried to say no, I begged the alpha, I swear,” she told me. My heart broke for her, I wasn’t mad at her by any means. My anger lied elsewhere and I needed her to know that.“Abuela, I know. I know.” I kissed her cheek and walked to Nel without sparing a glance at Matthew. I saw the phone to Nel’s ear and I knew damn well who he called, the one voice I needed to hear to calm down.“.… we have a probl-”I reached out and grabbed the phone from him and pressed it to my ear, desperate to hear his voice before I tore matthew’s head off. I filled him in and I could hear the a

“Alex..” she breathed out as if she didn’t believe it was me.“I’m here baby, how are you?”She rolled over and the blanket fell off of her down to her waist and it was then I saw that she was wearing one of my shirts. She looked hot as fuck and I was now having trouble focusing.“I missed you… I,” she stopped talking and I looked back up to see unshed tears in her eyes.“What is it?” I asked as concern took over. I looked between her eyes and waited for her to answer.Instead, she glanced at my lips before she crashed hers into them. She pushed against me, slipping her tongue in my mouth and pouring emotions into the kiss and into our link. She missed me. She wanted me. Oh fuck, she wanted me.I pulled away and looked deep into her eyes. I needed more confirmation, more information despite my

He climbed off of me after a few more kisses and stood up in all his glory as he walked to the bathroom. He turned on the shower and then came back to the bed and scooped me up, earning a shriek from me at the sudden motion. He laughed and carried me to the shower before setting me down.“I just bathed,” I told him.“As did I, however we could both use another one,” he said, with a glint in his eye. He wasn’t wrong. We climbed in and I pulled my hair up in a bun since it didn’t need another wash. We washed each other with his luffa and as his hands roamed my body and I felt his not so little friend at my butt I knew this wasn’t going to be a short shower. He picked me up as I wrapped my legs around him like we had done once before only this time he pounded into me against the shower wall until we were both screaming each other’s names. We were standing

{ Raine } I didn’t even have a full two minutes to really absorb that I had an aunt before his irritating voice filled the room. I had only spoke to him once but I remember his voice perfectly. The first time I heard it my wolf was overjoyed. This time she wanted to rip his head off. I took a deep breath and took my aunts hands in mine. “Lora, Auntie, I am so happy to meet you. Really, and I want to be very clear, that the anger you are about to feel coming from me, has absolutely nothing to do with you,” I told her firmly. She smiled back. “don’t worry honey, mom and dad explained everything. I understand,” she told me as she squeezed my hands and pulled away from me, moving aside so I could lay eyes on Matthew. I looked him over and couldn’t help the slight uptick in disgust at ever thinking he was so handsome. He was good looking, yes, but the more I looked at him th

He pulled my hands and dragged me into his office, letting me slide in on his lap while he pulled out his laptop and went to work, explaining everything as he did it. He was sending his two best trackers to meet Schmidt’s best trackers. Schmidts were the best in the world but Alex’s were top notch as well as being better fighters if they found trouble. Together the four would be tasked with information and infiltration. Apparently they were experts and Alex had every confidence in them.“We have information about these rogues but what we really need is the hierarchy. Are they run by one? A few? A rogue alpha or king? Is there a few leaders to make it so there is one per area or just one single guy calling the shots? What are they really after, death or something specific? These are the questions that we need before we even consider war.”The word rolled off his tongue so simply, but as it hit my ears it felt so heavy.

9 years later.{ Raine }“MAMAAAAAAA!!”I released a deep sigh as her loud voice echoed through the house. What now for the love of the Goddess above, I muttered to myself.“Yes mija?” I called out.“Cooper stole my ice cream again!” Isabella, my youngest screeched..“Ok mija, where is he?”“Across the field, by the training house,” she called out and sniffled. She was my baby, at only 7.5 years old. And while her brother was the sweetest and gentlest with her of his siblings, there were extenuating circumstances sometimes, and in this particular one, it wasn’t actually about his sister at all.I walked out to the front door and peered over. Sure enough, there he was. Cooper was 12 now, and standing there by the field building with him was Catalina, the only girl he had eyes for. This was the third time he had taken something from his sister to give to her. It was always the same, Catalina’s favorite ice cream was also Bellas favorite. But I Wasn’t having this at all.I mindlinked the

The thought occurs to me as I watch the breeze continue while Alex tickles Cooper and his sweet giggles float across the wind and make me smile and so I voice it.“Wait, what is the emotion that affects Air?”In all the time I had known and trained with Gus he never once mentioned what his emotion was like my dad and Tellus had. Happiness, Anger, Sadness… what was the mystical fourth one?The softest and smallest smile crossed Tellus’ face as he looked to me and then to my son and finally to my dad who shared the same smile as him.“I didn’t realize you had never asked Gus, I wish you would have. He always had the best explanation for it, the best way to describe it.” Dad said.“It’s love,” Tellus said to me.Love…“Oh,” I said more to myself. Love. I was havi

As we walked away I felt the heartache begin to fade. I stopped in my tracks and I watched as my father and Tellus did the same. “That was fast,” Tellus said more to himself. “Yeah,” my dad breathed out. They both looked at me and noticed my confusion that mirrored theirs, except I didn’t have the answer that they clearly did. “What just happened?” I asked when neither off them offered it up. “What do you mean?” Alex responded with worry etched on his faced. He glanced at me and looked me over from top to toe. I noticed him shift between his feet and then glance toward the direction of the battle, then back to me. “Another was already chosen,” Tellus tells us. “Another Air,” my dad adds as he looks at both of us to make sure we understand. “What? Already?” I asked, shocked. “Wow,

{ Raine }I watched as Alex took off to Rick where I had landed him. That burst of water had been the perfect way to allow Alex the opening he needed to safely approach and challenge Rick. Once Alex and Rick were both shifted and circling each other, I moved my focus to the rest of the fight.I couldn’t help the smirk that formed on my face when I took in the chaos that my fellow elementals were causing. Wolves were literally on fire despite my heavy rains, those tornados from Gus were perfectly placed and Tell was a beast with his powers. I never would have guessed that his abilites could be so effective in a war. Himself and mine seem to be the least deadly, but we were proving otherwise.I heard a growl from the left of me and turned to see a rogue sneaking up on me. I quickly formed a puddle underneath him that go deeper and deeper. It was only a distraction though, and it worked perfectly. He moved his paws un

“You should not have come here.”“You are my daughter, you don’t belong here.” Nora yelled at her. Her voice cracked a bit but she recovered quickly and put up her front.“I belong with my pack,” Raine said with conviction.Nora sneered at her now, “Oh really? And with your… mate?”The disgust in her voice as she mentioned me seemed to make Raine angry.“There is no one and no where I would rather be than with him.” She held her chin up high as she addressed her mother while also keeping a side eye on her mother’s mate who seemed to be tense and uncomfortable.“Fool, they have told you such things. Packs are unforgiving and toxic. Have you forgotten what they did to me? To us?” Nora screamed at Raine.I saw Raine smack her tongue against the front o

{ Raine }I felt a rough hand grab mine as I counted down to 0 along with Alex. I knew from the feeling of fire burning up my arm it was my father. 5 seconds.“No more rogues are moving, over a hundred backed down, but they still have an impressive army. I don’t know what Alex said, but it really pissed off Nora and Rick, I can feel the anger coming off them in waves, even sensing them from here,” I told the room.It was myself, the other 3 elementals, and 5 of the warriors from our pack. We were in a house that was on the packlands, but separate from the packhouse and main area. If they did search for me at the main packlands they wouldn’t find me. This was a small cabin in the woods that Abuelo and Jason’s grandfather had built as a bit of a safe house if needed, but it was mostly used by the Luna and Mona of the packs over the years when they needed some peace. To make it the prime spot t

{ Alexander }I snaked my arm around Raine in an attempt to push back this bristled feeling that was growing every minute that we grew closer to the fight and she wasn’t hidden somewhere. I glanced at my watch for 6thtime this minute.39 minutes.I needed her safe. I needed her gone from here. I have no doubt the rogues will send out spys to see if we are here and if they see Raine they may attack early or worse, follow her to her hiding spot.“Baby,” I said for the umpteenth time. She put her hand on my hand that was on her waist to acknowledge me but didn’t respond to me as she was directing warriors to their positions. She was glorious right now, I took another moment to appreciate her in this role before I sent her away. Her stretegy was flawless, her insight was priceless and I did feel a touch bad that she wasn’t going to be able to be here closer

“They need to know Raine is here, they need to know you want to end this war, and where to meet. I don’t see them backing down from the challenge, they don’t know you have thousands of extra warriors here from our packs the local ones. This should be enough, but bottom line, you say what you need to to get them there,” Alex told him sternly. Jason, to his credit, held Alex’s gaze despite his growing and demanding aura the more he spoke.“Yes Your Highness,” he said with a bowed head. We pulled a phone over to the table and he tried the first number. It rang a few times, but then we got to a generic voicemail. He dialed the second number and after three rings, someone answered.“What?”I sucked in a breathe as my mother’s voice filled the other end of the line. This was it, this was the finally slap of reality. Any piece of me that had still hoped she wasn&

Once we were settled it was a long flight. We stopped in for gas on the East Coast of America briefly and I mindlinked Jason for an update. All our warriors ahead of us had now arrived and they were settled in. Jason was an impressive Alpha, and if pressed I would say that I would trust him to run all of America for me if needed. He was organized, thoughtful, merciful when necessary, and while I hate the word, obedient. He didn’t fight me near as much as the other Alphas still did. He had damn near everything ready for us when we arrived and I thanked him for it.A quick gas up and we were on our way. Raine and Cooper were asleep in the bed in the back of the plane, but I couldn’t sleep. I was mind linking Car and working through maps for tomorrow. It was the middle of the night now thanks to how long we had to fly, it would damn near be morning once we arrived. I wouldn’t have long to get everything in order to attack.I h
