Chapter 6

A soft sigh escaped Tammie’s lips, as the golden ray of the sun cast a warm glow on her face. She pushed the duvet off her body and walked towards the bathroom, her mind still occupied with the suspicious note and the secrets Collins was hiding. The note had her heart racing, thoughts of who to believe clouding her mind.

She soaked her body in a hot, simmering bath and closed her eyes to clear her mind. Tammie couldn't believe she was married now, but the fact that the financial crisis was resolved somehow somehow relieved her. She descended the stairs in a fitted dress, her hair swaying as she walked. Sighting Collins a few steps away, her heart skipped a beat as this uneasy feeling seeped into her bones.

“Some truths are dangerous, Tammie.” His words echoed in her ears, making her wonder what he was truly hiding. The smell of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, and her stomach grumbled loudly, earning a chuckle from Collins. “You're up,” his voice ra

Chapter 7 Tammie's heart skipped a beat as a smile slowly colored her lips, “Collins Blackwood?” she asked, and the young kid nodded, urging her to sign the file. Tammie picked up a pen and signed, “Thanks, but I think ninety-nine roses are too much for you to handle.” she said as she walked out of the company, leaving the young kid in awe. He ruffled his hair with his hands, a reddish tint slowly coloring his cheeks, “Damn! sShe'shot.” Tammie walked towards the parking lot, some roses falling to the ground, decorating the pavement like a wedding aisle. Collins had earned the title of a ‘Ruthless man' in the business society, but behind the covers, all Tammie could see was a diligent man who cared for his wife as well. She placed the roses next to her and started the engine, exhausted from the day’s work. The dark clouds covered the sky like a thick blanket, changing it from its usual blue to a grayish color. The thunder rumbled, and Tammie had a feeling

Chapter 8Collins threw his head back, letting out a manly laugh, “my mother likes you already,” he assured, watching her closely “There's nothing to worry about.” Tammie seemed tense, but her shoulders relaxed after his words. She placed some steak on her plate, “Alright then “ she nodded stiffly, “I'll attend the dinner.” The rest of the evening was smooth as dinner passed by in the blink of an eye. Collins gulped down the last sip of his wine before getting up from the table, “I'll be upstairs.” he said plainly, tucking his hands in his pocket before walking away. They were couples, newlyweds, but they slept in separate rooms. Collins wasn't a pervert, someone who derived pleasure in exploiting women, so he gave her the chance to choose her preference. Tammie watched his retreating figure, his broad frame taking each step with such confidence and noblesse. Her gaze shifted, landing on the glass of wine next to her. She reached for it, taking a small sip before leaving the dining

Chapter 9Tammie stared at the reflection of herself, the blonde lady staring back at her. Her hair fell in curls, reaching her shoulders, and her bangs framed her heart-shaped face. Her blue eyes shone brightly, like diamonds in the night sky, a gaze that would capture men with a single glance. She applied mild makeup, a faint blush on her cheeks, giving her a heavenly appearance, a drop-dead gorgeous beauty with the world beneath her feet. Her hands trailed the rough surface of her purse before walking outside, her heels striking the floor with confidence. She tucked a few strands of her hair behind her ears and descended the stairs, her hands gripping her purse tightly. Dinner with her mother-in-law seemed like a normal thing, but Tammie had a hard time stabilizing her heartbeat. She pressed her lips in a thin line, her mind traveling back to the suspicious figure she found roaming Collins' building. For the past few days, she hadn't found the right time, the right opportunity to

Chapter 10Emma rolled her eyes, ignored her brother's words, and continued her chat with Tammie. Unlike other girls, Tammie looked pure, and simple, with the right personality that goes with Collins' cold attitude. Deep down, Emma hoped Tammie would be the one to soothe her brother and heal the deep, dark scars caused by different situations.Emma was a character, who jumped into conversations just to make sure everyone was clutching their stomach, laughing hard. Tammie had one of the best evenings—a perfect dinner with her family, people who love her for who she truly is. Emma gave her a tour of the house, showing her childhood pictures of Collins and his best friend. Her laughter painted the whole room, and when it was time to leave, she was reluctant to kiss them goodbye.“We’re leaving, mother.” Collins gushed, wrapping his arms protectively around Tammie. Emma couldn't stop the smile that threatened to tear her face, “Slow down, brother, she isn't running.” she pointed out.Tamm

You're replying to emails from work.” she pointed out, taking another sip of her vodka. Mia was Tammie's childhood friend, best friends now. They became closer than sisters, not like Tammie had any. His actions yesterday had surprised her, and the fact that he got jealous over a man's jacket alone was annoying. She mixed her coffee with a spoon and walked towards the couch, “You're back.” That was all she said, and Collins nodded stiffly, still thinking about the first sentence written in that journal. He felt like Wills was giving him a chance to settle things with his wife and improve their relationship, but how was that supposed to help him sleep better? He inhaled a deep breath and walked towards her, “Do you feel better?” his cold voice warmed Tammie up and her grip on her cup tightened. She took some mouthfuls of the coffee and flashed a smile, “As you can see, I'm quite alright.”Collins nodded before ascending the stairs, his lips pressed together in deep thought. He placed the journal on his bed, and loosened up his tie, before

The gruesome memories and the torturous past were his monsters, the vulnerable part of him he so much wanted to hide from others. In a white room, Collins crossed his legs and leaned backward, closing his eyes as he listened to Wills’ rants,“I’ve told you countless times, only take two pills whenever you're about to sleep!”“You've been feeding your body with so much that now you're addicted.”“Now, the pills no longer work for you.” Wills spat, his body trembling from anger. She swallowed nervously and stared at her exposed arms, “What the hell happened?” She shrieked, fear evident in her features, “Did…did you carry me in here?”“Were you expecting the butler to carry you instead?” Collins asked with a chuckle, “Or you expect me to allow you to drown?” He placed the spoon back in the bowl and raised the whole bowl, “Would you ret
