CHAPTER 22

Patricia remained silent as she and Alvin dined together. They had gone to a charming seafood restaurant, and Alvin had thoughtfully ordered dishes she particularly loved. She wasn't sure if he did it on purpose, but deep down, she was grateful. The rich aroma of freshly grilled seafood filled the air, making her stomach rumble with anticipation.

“You’re really hungry, huh?” Alvin remarked, his voice tinged with amusement as he watched her eat with gusto.

Patricia smiled softly at him, her eyes momentarily meeting his before she returned to her meal. The flavors exploded on her tongue, each bite a reminder of how much she had missed a proper meal. At that moment, all her worries faded into the background as she indulged in the delicious spread before her.

“I haven’t really had breakfast yet, Sir Alvin. And last night, I didn’t have a proper dinner either—just some oatmeal,” she explained, her voice trailing off as she scooped up another mouthful of rice, the grains warm and comforting
