CHAPTER 2: BETRAYAL

last update Last Updated: 2023-12-28 22:43:05

“Is that so? Our witch has finally found her mate? How is it possible?” A male wolf who had been observing all of this chimed with a questioning look but I knew he was only mocking me so I dropped my eyes and gazed at the floor.

“Who will we be harassing now, Shantel?” Another one asked but I remained quiet.

“Let her go to him!” Shantel voiced out but by her voice, I could sense that she was angry at them. Wow, tables really could turn.

“Edna, my best friend’s foster-sister, go and have fun, maybe it is your childhood sweetheart!” I melted and curled myself when I heard that. I couldn’t wait to see him now.

“Have fun!” She repeated the words while giving her friends, her back while looking at me as she said that, causing me to nod but even a fool could sense that something was not okay here.

Shantel wouldn't leave me just like that! Anyway, I had to use this chance and find my mate who might be Edric so that I could convince him to forgive them for what they had been doing to me all this while.

With that done, I rushed up the stairs and walked through the corridor as my wolf, Serene, directed me.

After some seconds of waiting as it felt like hours of waiting, I stood in front of a huge door.

‘He is here, our mate!’ Serene emphasised on the word ‘mate’ causing me to stand in front of the door trying to compose myself.

But I was tense that a cold sweat rolled down my forehead. My heart was thumping harder now than before.

“Calm down, he is here!” I comforted myself as I was always used to talking to myself or my wolf.

Because all my life, I had been alone. My boyfriend was sometimes there with me but most of the time he was busy training because he was to be the next beta of our next Alpha so I spent most of my time alone.

Before I could barge into the room, I first leaned my head on the door to listen if there was anyone in the room to be sure that my mate was really inside.

My wolf Serene was right, I could hear his voice from inside!

Without waiting as my happiness was above the brim, I touched the door knob and pushed the door open with a huge smile that reached my eye on my face.

Finally, we were going to be together forever. I would be the beta's wife so they wouldn't bully me anymore because we would be protected by the Alpha, plus Edric was strong to protect me.

‘Mate!’ My wolf concluded, urging me to continue.

But what I saw on the bed made my head spin repeatedly and my wolf Serene to howl in anger!

“Yes, you are so sweet! Harder, harder my beta! Please give me more!”

“You are so beautiful! You look like an angel! Your garden is so sweet that I can't get enough of it! Should I thrust harder?” Now I could hear the strange voices coming from the bed!

All this time, I had ignored it and focused on Edric's voice when I was outside over dropping on the door.

He  was there lying on her, naked, thrusting her hard while moaning with pleasure with another girl!

I stood there for sometime as they were so immersed with what they were doing that they couldn't hear me come in through the door.

Blood drained from my face as I froze in front of the room door. It was him, Edric, he was my fated mate! But look at him now, enjoying himself with another woman after lying to me all this time.

I wanted to run and go far, very far from them but I couldn't, my other part wanted to continue witnessing for myself as my legs were paralysed on the spot.

All this while, they had told me I would die alone and that I was cursed because I was neither a wolf nor a witch. I didn't believe them.

I had endured all their bullying thinking that one day I would find my mate and he would protect me from all of that but I was wrong.

Fortunately, my mate turned out to be my boyfriend or rather the man I used to believe that he was my boyfriend but there he was.

“Who is mummy's love?” He growled harder as he pushed himself deeper that the sound of their flesh kicking each other could be heard all over the place that they couldn't care if anyone was inside the room.

“Edric is mummy's love! But what about Edna? I am always jealous when seeing you around her.” Now I could recognize the voice and saw the face of the girl!

All this time my concentration was on Edric but now I could see her! It was Melissa, my foster mother's daughter and Shantel's best friend whom I had been thinking that she was not here, but there she was, being pleasured by Edric, my mate.

Her innocent look made the man above him to slow down his thrust and gazed at her with a lot of love in his eyes causing my heart to break into many pieces but I kept on looking at them instead of walking away and leaving the lovebirds alone.

“Are you kidding me right now, sweetheart? Who would want to marry that daughter of a devil? I can't even take it when I am closer to her,” I swallowed hard at that.

“I always pretend to like her but I would never dare risk my life being someone who can kill her own family!” Edric broke me even more that the tears that I used to hide behind my head refused to hear my pleading of not coming out and rushed like water down my cheeks.

Mellisa pushed her head up trying to kiss her causing her eyes to come face to face with mine. But there was no shock in those blue eyes of hers. There was only a huge mocking smile as she kissed him on his forehead while still looking at me.

“I knew you wouldn't betray our next Alpha and me by loving such a forbidden girl!” She said while faking a moan causing the man to thrust her harder.

“I love you mummy! It has always been you!” I heard Edric saying, causing me to lose the last hope that I was still lingering in my heart and I turned ready to go but the door knob that I had been unknowingly squeezing hard made a sound causing it to make noise in the room.

“Oh, noo!” I muttered with a painful chuckle as I immediately turned my head facing them while more tears rushed down my cheeks,

“I-I am so sorry for intruding your privacy, please don't stop, just continue!”

“Prepare a feast to celebrate my mother and the fact that we won the battle!” I blurted out suddenly, and all the people around were shocked by my decision.Maybe I was evil. My mother had died, and instead of mourning her, I was preparing for a feast to celebrate.‘No. You are not. That is what she wants you to do. To be happy.’‘Thank you, Serene.’ I had never been so happy with my sassy wolf than today.‘You!’ She shouted, and I laughed.“Okay, a feast to celebrate a new beginning and a new life!” Ansel blurted out, and all the pack members, plus our guests, looked in our direction in shock.“Your queen is expecting an heir.” Maybe they didn't hear when my mother talked about her grandson. I didn't know.“Hail the queen of the Titanic Wave! Hail the queen of the Titanic Wave!” They all chorused, and Ansel helped me up.“Where is Edric? He wasn't at the battle?” I asked as Ansel led me in the direction of the stairs.“Three of his council members died, so he had to go.”“It was my m

In one swift move, I was already on my heels and outside the room as if I wasn’t the one who was unwell. The only thing I could hear now was, ‘My mother!’She would be fine, right? Nothing would happen to her, right?Just a moment ago, we had been together, fighting side by side. What might have happened to her just now?All those thoughts kept replaying in my mind as I ran through the hallway, down the stairs, and into another hallway that led to the living hall. Something popped into my mind and I froze. She had no heart! She was living like a shadow!“Nooo!” I shouted at the top of my lungs as I increased my speed. Right now, I couldn't hear anyone speaking to me. I couldn’t see anyone beside me. All I wanted to see was Seraphina, my mother. Reaching the hall, my eyes started tearing up as I saw the woman on the couch, surrounded by some maids and other people I couldn’t recognize at this moment. I rushed to her and knelt on the floor, closer to the couch.“Baby girl.” She calle

The earth heaved, revealing hidden hundreds of witches clad in black, each with the same eerie white cross on their foreheads. Their village, previously hidden by powerful spells, now stood exposed before us.I swallowed hard and turned to Seraphina and she also turned to me."I am so proud of you, I myself didn't know that spell, how did you know it?"I averted my gaze away from her, "I also didn't know how I was able to perform it.""Do you believe that indeed, you were meant to save the wolf's species?" I nodded but the waves of shock rippled through me and by the whispers behind me, I could sense the shock in all of my people too.I could also sense the astonishment in the eyes of the soldiers and our allies. If not for the witches' attacks, we would have passed by this hidden stronghold, unaware of the danger lurking within. The witches, realising their concealment had failed, quickly regrouped. Forming a tight circle, they clasped hands and began chanting. Their voices rose in

EDNA POVMy breath came in shallow bursts as the trucks rumbled towards the witches' territory. It was time, time to pat back to the wiches for what they did to our brothers and sisters.I glanced around at my companions: Seraphina, her trusted confidante, sat beside her, while Coline lounged in the corner with an air of detachment. I had decided to suppress the need to ask her what she meant earlier because I could already see through her that she thought I was weak and that maybe, I used my beauty to be Ansel's mate.Silly her to judge me like that. How stupid was he to forget that there were also fate? That I was Ansel's fated mate?Indeed some people could be crazy and mad."Stay alert," Ansel's voice crackled over the radio-like. "We’re close."Immediately after I heard that, my heart started pounding in my chest. Suddenly, a loud screech filled the air as the lead truck swerved violently. What was going on?I turned my eyes in a bullet pace in front as we were at the top of

Edna's hands trembled slightly as she tightened the last strap of her armour. The preparations had been very tiresome to both of them, leaving her no time to question Ansel about the unfamiliar figures who had arrived earlier. Now, as everything was done, curiosity gnawed at her and she couldn't be silent anymore. She moved quietly through the hall towards her mate, Ansel, her mind focused on the impending battle but unable to shake her curiosity. Ansel was conferring with a group of warriors when she approached him. She leaned in close, her voice a soft whisper."Ansel, who were those two men and the woman with King Roshan earlier?"Ansel's eyes widened momentarily in realisation. He turned to her, a sheepish smile on his lips. "I am sorry, my love. I should have introduced them to you. Ooh no, why have I forgotten to do that and you are the qeen of wolves? You should be aware of who they are." He raised his voice, catching the attention of the mysterious guests."STEVE?" Ansel cal

Ansel sighed, his eyes softening as he looked at Edna. "I have to check on the warriors and make sure the cars are ready for our departure."Edna’s eyes narrowed, her jaw tightening. She threw off the pink robe, walked to the wardrobe, and pulled out a pair of trousers and a blue shirt. With quick, angry motions, she dressed herself, her movements sharp and agitated."Do you think I’m weak?" she shouted, her voice trembling with emotion. "Is that why you want me to sleep while you go and prepare for the war with your men?"Ansel stepped towards her, his hands raised in a placating gesture. "No, Edna. You need rest for tomorrow. It’s not because I think you’re weak. You’re anything but that. How could you even conclude that?"Tears welled up in Edna’s eyes, and she cried, her shoulders shaking with the force of her sobs. Ansel was taken aback, shocked by her sudden burst of emotions. He rushed to her and hugged her from behind, murmuring sweet words into her ear. This woman was everyt
