Dane's POV

Starting the engine, I felt a mix of determination and dread. My goal was clear: to eliminate Beta Ivar so I could continue my search for Astrid without any obstacles.

As I drove closer, I noticed that Ivar remained utterly unmoved. He stood there with a strong, unshakable presence, his expression calm and challenging. He wasn’t afraid, and his unwavering stance was a bold statement, daring me to act.

I realized that I had to stop the car. If I continued advancing, I would run him over and kill him, something I couldn’t bring myself to do. Ivar was not just any member of the pack; he was my Beta, someone crucial to our group.

Taking his life would not only be a personal betrayal but would also inflict significant damage on the pack, something I couldn’t justify.

His understanding of the consequences gave him the bravery to face the car head-on, standing his ground as if to force me to reconsider.

With a heavy heart and rising frustration, I pressed down hard on the brakes.
