CHAPTER FOURTY-FIVE

JAXON'S POV

Every day since Audrey chose Magnus over me has been hell. To my pack members, I was still the same Alpha, but I was the only one who knew how much I struggled to keep everything together inside.

After I dealt with that brat Paul, I sent him and his grandfather away before I made rash decisions.

I became tougher on my soldiers. I became a more hands-on Alpha. I trained with them every day and pushed them to their limits.

One day after a training that was designed to kill even the strongest in my team.

“Alpha Jaxon?“ One of them spoke up.

“Yes, Derek?“

“Is there a war coming up?“

“No. Why do you ask?“

“Well, Alpha,” he said, looking around for support. “We…I think we have been training too hard for nothing.“

“Do you all think so?“

There were murmurs of consent, but no one said anything in particular.

I brought out my gun and shot him point blank in the head. There was a deafening silence as his body hit the ground.
