Mark POV:
As soon as I arrived at my office, I was taken aback by the large crowd that had gathered outside. It was quite chaotic and disruptive. Among them, I spotted Dave in the distance, who hurried over to me to explain the situation. It turned out that the source of the commotion was one of my clients, who had come to protest against the high fees I had charged her. This particular client was a woman whose son was involved in a legal case that I had been handling for her.Unfortunately, she was having trouble paying the amount of money that I had charged her for my services. It was not uncommon for us to charge high fees for complex cases, and it seemed that this was one of them.At our law firm, we often charge steep prices depending on the complexity and severity of the case at hand. Despite my client's discontent, I knew that I had provided her with the best legal representation possible and that the fees I had charged were fair and reasonable given the circumstances."I need you to leave my office immediately. Why are you here causing a problem?” I shouted at her in anger."I have already explained to you several times about the condition of your case," I continued, my voice stern and firm. "If you want your case to be handled well, you need to pay all the necessary fees and follow the required procedures. It's not just about showing up and demanding results. You have to follow the rules like everyone else."However, the woman refused to listen and became increasingly agitated. She shouted back at me, "If you don't refund my money, I am going to make sure that you rot in jail!" and immediately she rushed towards me, hitting me with her hands. It was an extremely distressing situation. As soon as I managed to pull away, causing her to lose her balance and fall to the floor. Without wasting any time,She regained her footing and attempted to launch herself at me again to continue her physical assault, fists raised. In the nick of time, Dave rushed to my aid and grabbed the woman, restraining her from causing further harm."Get your hands off me." The woman's voice was loud and fierce as she screamed at Dave. She was hitting him with all her might, but Dave reacted quickly and grabbed hold of her hands to prevent any further physical altercation. Her fists were clenched tightly, and she swung them at him repeatedly in an attempt to break free.Dave's hands were firm and unyielding as he held onto her wrists. He could feel her struggling against him, her muscles tense with the effort of trying to escape.Despite the woman's hostility, Dave remained calm and composed.“Dave, please escort this woman out of my office," I instructed him firmly as I realized that the situation was escalating, feeling angry. Despite my request, the woman continued to struggle and resist in anger, trying to break free from Dave's grip and come after me once more.As Dave was walking the woman out of my office, she turned back to me and pointed a finger in my direction. "I will make sure that all of you pay for this," she hissed, her voice dripping with venom. Her eyes were narrow and her face was twisted with anger, making it clear that her threat was not an idle one.I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. Her words echoed in my mind, and I wondered what she could possibly mean by that.As I surveyed my surroundings, I noticed that my staff and some clients had stopped what they were doing to observe the commotion that had erupted. Their curious gazes were fixed on the source of the disturbance, causing a small crowd to form around the office. To regain control of the situation, I raised my voice and commanded everyone to return to their tasks. "Get back to work, everyone!" I shouted, hoping to restore order and prevent any further disruption. With my message delivered,After the woman had eventually been removed from the office, Dave returned to the office, allowing me to catch my breath and regain my composure. It was a challenging experience, but I was glad that Dave was there to help me.Dave turned towards me and asked with concern, "Are you okay?" His voice was soft and comforting, putting me at ease. I nodded in response. Then I quickly retreated to my office and slammed the door shut behind me, feeling a mixture of frustration and embarrassment. After an hour had passed, a heavy silence hung over the office. Suddenly, there was a sharp knock on the door to my office. When I opened it, to my surprise, I found myself face-to-face with a group of policemen. As I watched Dave and the other security officers in the office attempt to stop the policemen, I knew that I had to step in to prevent the situation from getting worse. Despite their efforts to prevent the police from entering the office, the police managed to barge their way in.Without any warning, one of the policemen spoke up: "Mr. Mark Adrian, you are under arrest. Please refrain from saying anything as it will be used against you in the court of law.” The gravity of the situation hit me like a ton of bricks. Before I could even say anything, one of the police officers had already grabbed me by the arm and forcefully handcuffed me. My heart sank and I felt a mix of fear and confusion as I never thought I would find myself in this situation. They were accompanied by a woman, who appeared to be the woman I sent out of my office an hour ago in a state of distress and anger, and it was clear from her demeanor that they had come to arrest me.SARAH'S POV:My friend and I were still enjoying ourselves on the same beach. We were having such a great time that we decided to attend a party. As soon as we got there, the sound of music filled the air and Brenda immediately rushed to the dance floor, eagerly joining the dancing crowd. I stood there alone for a moment, taking in the scene, when suddenly I heard a familiar voice calling out my name and turning around. I was pleasantly surprised to see Paul, who happens to be Mark's cousin, approaching me with a warm smile."Hello, Sarah," he said, extending his hand for a handshake. I couldn't help but smile."Paul, what are you doing here?” I asked as I opened my arms to give him a warm hug. It had been a while since we last spoke, and I was worried about him."I just came here to let loose and have some fun." He replied. His answer put my mind at ease, and I was glad to know that he was here to enjoy himself. But I could sense that there was more to the story, so I asked him,
SARAH'S POV;As soon as we arrived at the dancing ground, Joe turned to me with a charming smile and said, "Shall we?" Without hesitation, he took my hand and pulled me onto the dance floor. As we began to move together, I felt an unexpected flutter in my stomach and realised that I was starting to develop feelings for him. The music was loud and vibrant, filling the air with its infectious beat and making it impossible not to dance. Our bodies moved in perfect harmony, and it felt as though we had been dancing together for years. After the dance, Joe led me to the bar where we ordered drinks. As we sat down, I couldn't help but feel grateful for his company. It had been a long time since I had felt this happy, and Joe was the reason for it. He had a way of making me forget all the troubles and heartbreaks I had experienced in the past. I was so caught up in the moment that I didn't want the night to end.Although it's Sunday night, I had to go to work on the next day, and my daughter
MARK’S POV:As I was about to be taken away by the police, I could hear Dave and several security guards in the office loudly protesting. They were demanding that justice be served, and I could sense the tension in the air. However, I managed to calm them down and assured them that I will be back in no time.Just as I thought the situation was under control, my client who had caused my arrest suddenly, without any warning, clapped her hands, and I felt the sharp sting of her palm against my face. The force of the blow sent me reeling, and I stumbled backwards, my head spinning. I couldn't believe what had just happened. The situation was tense, and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. I was being accused of taking away my client's money, and she had called the police on me. Before I knew it, my client who was visibly angry, slapped me hard across the face, pointed at me and her voice rang out shrilly. "I will make sure you pay me every dime you owe, you wicked person!" she sho
MARK'S POV:As Jennie and I were leaving the police station, I heard my phone ring. I reached into my pocket to answer it, but Jennie stopped me abruptly by saying, "Can we please enjoy some time together without interruptions?" She then took my phone from my hand before I could even respond. I couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed at the time, but I knew that spending quality time with her will be more important so that I won't make mistakes again. As soon as we arrived at the spot where she had parked her car, she turned to me and uttered just one word, "Drive." Without wasting any time, she flipped her car key in my direction and I quickly caught it. As I held the key, she stepped aside and waited for me to take the driver's seat. The urgency in her voice made it clear that there was no time to waste and we needed to hit the road as soon as possible. I noticed that there was a hint of worry on her face, as if something was bothering her. Despite her demeanour, I remained calm and
SARAH'S POV:"Mum” I turned around as I heard my daughter Mabel calling out for me, using the affectionate term that only she could get away with. I couldn't help but wonder how long she had been standing there and if she had been listening in on my conversation with Joe. "I have to go," I eventually told Joe, hoping to end the conversation before it became any more awkward."Allow me to drop you off," he suggested."No, don't worry," I told him with a smile. While I appreciated his offer, I didn't want him to know where I lived. "I can find my way home."As we said goodbye, I turned to my daughter. "Let's go honey," I said, and we headed back home.Upon my arrival, I realised that the house was eerily quiet. I called out for my husband, but there was no answer. I decided to check up on his room, but he wasn't there either. I couldn't help but wonder where he could have been with his mistress. As I walked out onto the veranda, I noticed the chief maid passing by. Curious about the wh
SARAH'S POV:"I want a refund.” A customer said with a stern look on his face as he walked up to the desk where I was seated, and placed the package he had bought some hours ago on the surface.“What” I said as I was taken aback by his sudden request, and quickly stood up from my chair to address him. As I looked at him with surprise, I couldn't help but wonder what had gone wrong with his purchase. The customer's voice was laced with anger and frustration as he spoke. "Are you deaf?" he barked at me. "I said I want a refund. I think it went bad," he repeated with a hateful tone. I could sense the tension building up in the air as he grew more agitated by the moment.Trying to remain calm, I picked up the package that he had dropped on the desk and examined it closely to assess its condition. “Well, it's not expired,” I informed him after a thorough inspection, but the man cut me off abruptly, his tone accusatory as if he was blaming me for the unpleasant taste. "If it hasn't expir
SARAH'S POV:"Oh, wait a minute." The sober man exclaimed as he continued talking, I was startled by his sudden outburst, but he rushed off to retrieve another item. When he returned, he placed it gently on the desk and I resumed packing. "We'll be out of here soon," he reassured me with a smile. "How much is it?” the man inquired as I was handing the package to him.“Sir your friend had paid.” I informed him as I quickly check my records. “And did you want a receipt?” I asked him in order to ensure accuracy. "No, thank you.” The man politely declined the offer. I acknowledged his response and handed him the package"Yeah, have a nice day." However, before he could finish his sentence, his drunk companion interrupted him by saying, "Hey, get two more bottles." I could see the sober man's expression change as he tried to control his friend's unruly behaviour. As the drunk man stumbled towards the store, cigarette in hand, I quickly intervened and told him; “Gosh, Sir you can't sm
Chapter 13JOE’S POV:After monitoring Sarah's movements for some time, I managed to figure out the location of her workplace and the approximate time she usually finishes her work. With this information, I felt it was important to visit her and ensure that everything was going well with her.As I have been interested in her for a while now. I made sure to time my visit so that I could arrive shortly before she closed for the day. It was important for me to ensure that she was doing well and also to express my interest in spending more time with her.Upon arriving at Sarah's workplace, I quickly realized that entering might make her uncomfortable. So, I decided to wait outside until she finished and come outside. I didn't want her to think that I was imposing on her time or making her feel uneasy. After the workplace closed and she came outside and was about to go, I still didn't want to approach her directly, so I followed her discreetly from a distance. My intention was to ensure t
