Chapter 99

MARK'S POV

The air in the crowded room was charged with tension as I stood there, racking my brain for a solution. Sarah was within arm's reach, yet it felt like there was an impenetrable barrier between us - a barrier erected by Barr Lawn. I took a step back, keeping my eyes fixed on her, hoping to find a way to break through the wall that had been built between us.

"Sarah!" I called out, my voice cracking with emotion as I desperately tried to push through the throng of people and reach her.

An officer, tall and imposing, moved to block my path, his firm presence a solid barrier. "Step back, Mr. Mark," he commanded, his authoritative tone leaving no room for argument as he held out a restraining hand to stop me from getting any closer to Sarah.

My heart pounded in my chest as I looked at Sarah, my eyes pleading with her to listen. "Sarah, please. Just hear me out."
