PROLOGUE
YSOBELLA IS SITTING in a corner with a little smile on her face, looking at the people of Assura celebrating under the full moon. It is the 45th anniversary of their town and the people are having a festive feast. It's almost midnight and only a few people are left in the park. Ysobella also decided to head home.
On her way home, she was happily watching the townspeople on each side of the road. She feels pleased as she observes their faces as if they carry no burden.
This is what she wants. A peaceful but lively environment to live in. No violence and the people are not unpleasant.
When she reached their house, her Grandma Esmey is already resting in her room. Her grandmother went home a little earlier than her because of exhaustion.
Since Ysobella's parents are long gone, it was just her and her grandmother. She was only six years old when she lost both her parents. And since then, her Grandma Esmey became her sole guardian.
Ysobella then readies herself for bed. She needs to wake up early tomorrow, for tomorrow is her special day. And also, her Grandma Esmey promised to cook her favorite dish.
"I can't wait for tomorrow," she uttered in a whisper.
Ysobella was sleeping soundly when her grandmother suddenly woke her. She yawned while rubbing her eyes with her hands. Then she noticed the discomfort on the face of her Lola Esmey. Ysobella's eyebrows furrowed and her head is clouded with confusion. She was about to ask her Lola Esmey what was wrong when she heard a ruckus from the outside.
There's a ruckus outside their house and she can hear the people running while some are shouting and crying for help. Ysobella couldn't fathom what was happening but she suddenly feel anxious.
"Grandmother, what is happening?! Why are the people crying for help?" she asked worriedly. Her hands are also trembling in fear.
"Ysobella, we need to leave this place. The rogues will not cease until they end us all," her grandmother uttered in a hurry. "Let's head to the woods. I know a place where we can hide," her grandmother added.
After her Lola Esmey said those her body stiffened. Rogues! The rogues are attacking their town!
Her grandmother is right, the rogues will not stop until they finished them all. And if they spare you, you'll become their slave. But being a slave to the rogues can be related to a person facing death.
Her heart was beating hard as they headed towards the woods. Her chest hurts as she hears countless screams from people, including children.
Gone is the peace and laughter in their town. The peace is now replaced with chaos and the laughter is now replaced with screams.
Ysobella and her Grandmother Esmey went on to run. "Just a little bit further, Bella, we're almost there. Grandma promises not to put you in harm's way," assured her grandmother.
While they progressed towards the woods, Ysobella suddenly felt an excruciating pain in her chest, causing her to drop to her knees.
Her grandmother went to aid her frantically. "What happened, Bella?? A-Are you hurt?"
But the intolerable pain had deafened Ysobella's ears. Her heart was being crushed into pieces. She wailed in agony when the pain just doubled.
Black began to appear from the corner of her eyes, her vision started to blur and the veins inside her head became apparent when they added a more unbearable pain. Yet the pain did not only limit to her chest and head but they spread in her body where she relinquished to pain.
Her grandmother's words remained inaudible. She curled up like a fetus as she unwillingly succumbed to suffering.
"AAGH! Please... s-stop--- s-stop... i-it h-hurts... p-please," Bella cried. Her tear-stained face indicates the growing pain.
Her grandmother caresses her cheeks as she continues to mumble. She would have loved to hear them but her agony prevents her from understanding her utterances.
"S-Stop p-please," she begged once more. Gradually, the pain ceased.
"I'm sorry."
Ysobella had no single idea of the unfamiliar voice of a man inside her head. Even so, she was still weak to heed it.
Ysobella wanted to speak but somehow she knows that her body is slowly falling into the abyss. The last thing Ysobella saw was her grandmother's warm smile and the words she mouthed, "I love you". As she finally succumbs into darkness, a pair of powerful arms lift her from the ground.
*****YSOBELLA WOKE UP in an unfamiliar room, all white, and the smell of medicine frolics in the room.Where am I? she pondered.
Bella forced her body to move when the door suddenly opened by itself. A man and a woman revealed themselves before her and upon seeing her in a good condition, relief flashed on their faces.
"I'm glad that you're awake, how are you feeling?" the woman inquires.
"A bit weak-- my grandmother?!" She almost sprang up. "Where is my grandmother?" Fear began to creep in her.
The man taps the woman's shoulder before turning to Ysobella. The unsettled look on their faces had clued Ysobella with terrifying news that she is yet to accept. The man then took a deep breath and spoke in utmost sympathy, "I'm sorry, but your grandmother is dead. She didn't make it."
Upon hearing those words, Ysobella was still yet to process the thought that her grandmother has left their world. But the tears falling one another could no longer hide her sorrow. Try as she did to recall her last moments with her.
She was with her in the woods. They were running and--- Ysobella covered her mouth when she remembered what happened.
She wept upon remembering the events; she fell unconscious upon having to experience such unbearable torment.
"My grandmother. My grandmother, she's gone!" Ysobella cried in grief.
Ysobella's great grief caused her to lock herself away from everyone for the entire day.
"I thank you all for the help. When can I go?" Ysobella asked the next day.
She no longer has a home to go back to and a family left. With no idea where to go but she still insists on leaving.
"You are not leaving, Ysobella. From now on, you'll be staying here with us," the doctor said.
"Yes, stay here with us. You're safe here," said the man who saved her.
"Where am I?" she curiously asked her savior.
"You are in Highcrest Mountain, Ysobella. Welcome to the House of Salvatorri," the man uttered gently.
Then it dawned on her. She's in the Crescent Moon Pack's mansion!
*****Ed_Dianthe|Ms. EdTHE FIRST TIME THE SAME DREAM awakened me from my slumber. It's odd because I kept on dreaming about it for five nights. The dream is about a little girl who wanders in the woods with her small basket filled with various flowers. As she keeps marveling around the woods, she spotted a huge tree not so far from the lake. But she knows she is not supposed to go this far so she decided to turn her back and head back to her parents. She was a few steps away when she heard a muffled sound. It was like something or someone is moaning. Fear suddenly surged through the little girl. But despite the fear she felt, she still found herself walking towards the location where the sound is coming from. She was surprised when she realized that the sound came from the tree she noticed earlier. There, was a young man, with his white t-shirt stained with red, which the girl presumed was blood. The girl then noticed how the young man's face contorted in pain. The little girl has no idea what to
HAPPY BIRTHDAY I OPENED MY eyes and found out that Ayla is no longer in her bed. Another day and another year for me. My life changed in an instant after what happened in Assura. "Happy Birthday, to me," I greeted myself. Ever since my grandmother died I stopped celebrating my birthday but Nana and Mama Melly said that I should not forbid myself from celebrating another year of my life. And they said that my grandmother would have wanted me to enjoy my day and forget about the nightmares in the past. "Bella? Are you done fixing yourself?" I heard Ayla's voice from outside our room "Just a minute!" I half yelled. I looked at the mirror and observed my reflection. I have middle-length auburn hair, a pointy nose, and brown eyes. Grandma Esmey said that I look a lot like my mother but my round brown eyes are inherited from my father. It's just painful that I lost them at an early age and I don't even have a single photo of them. "Bella?" It was Ayla, calling me once more. "I'
BLUE MOON PACK HIS GREETINGS WERE simple yet it brings havoc to my system. I don't even know how I managed to go downstairs without tripping. And how did he know about my birthday? Maybe he knows everybody's birthday. He's the Alpha after all.I marched to the training ground to find Lorkan. I smiled when I spotted him together with his brothers, Logan and Landon. My smile widened as I eyed the three. They are triplets and I am five years younger than them. The triplets almost have the same facial features, they even have the same eye color which is evergreen. But it's not really hard to distinguish which is which. The oldest, Lorkan, bears a cold expression but he's actually the gentle one. He's usually quiet and observant. Then the second one, Logan, was playful and very friendly. His brother even thinks that he's the male version of Ayla. And lastly, the youngest, Landon, is the black sheep of the family, as Logan always claims. He is the mischievous type and has a typical bad-b
SAY MY NAME I WASN'T ABLE to take well what I have learned from the night before. I quickly left the place right before they noticed me. But I do hope that they have found a solution to their problems.Since it's Sunday today, most normal beings are off to leave the mansion to visit their families in town. Ayla and I are also all set to leave for Ashwood but before leaving, we went first to the kitchen to fetch her mother. "Are you done, mother?" Ayla asked as soon as she saw her mother. Mama Melly turns her head to us. "Yes. But first, let's go see Nana Selma, she might have something she wants us to buy." She then proceeded on wiping her hands and looked at me. "Bella, will you be kind enough to deliver the box of herbs to Doc Morgan?" I gave her a nod and a gentle smile. "Of course, Mama Melly.""Sissy, let's meet in the East gate later, okay? And please do hurry," Ayla said as she taps my shoulder. I was on my way to the infirmary when I bump into Logan. I can tell he was glad
HUNGRY I CAME UPON Ayla and Mama Melly waiting at the East gate. Ayla asked what took me so long. I just told her that I had a delightful conversation with Doctor Morgan. She looks convinced and pressed no further questions. Ashwood is an hour away from Highcrest Mountain and the twins Kael and Kaleb were kind enough to drive us there. "Welcome to Ashwood Town, Bella," I murmured. We expressed our gratitude and bid goodbye to the twins after. Ashwood is the closest town in Highcrest and the biggest town in Preousia.I like this town. The last time I went here was on my eighteenth birthday. It's actually Mama Melly's idea to bring me to town since we weren't able to celebrate it at home. And during our visit, the town was also celebrating its anniversary. We went to Mystic St. where Mama Melly's friend is residing. She mentioned earlier that her friend is living alone because her husband is no longer in the world of living. She was mated with a werewolf and he used to be a member o
ORBIS I KNOW I can't avoid him forever. I know our paths will cross again but I didn't expect it will happen sooner. He's requesting me. That's strange. What could he possibly want from me? Markus took me to a familiar room, the Alpha's art room and just like the last time I entered the room, Alpha Lucien is not yet present. I tried amusing myself with his artwork then I noticed that the painting from before is already hanging on the wall. His mother's painting in her wolf form is the biggest among the rest. I wonder what Lucien's mother looks like. I bet his mother is beautiful. I was brought back from my thoughts when I heard the door open. I held my breath when Alpha Lucien enters the room. "Glad you're here. Please... sit," he said while pointing at the couch near the window. I swallowed hard and now we are both seated across each other. He was intently staring at me again so I immediately opened my mouth to speak. "Uh, is there anything that I can help you with?"
RAVEN I WAS AWAKENED by something warm touching my skin. "We're here, Ysobella." I quickly straightened in my seat when I heard Alpha Lucien's voice. Heat crawled on my face when I realized I was leaning on his shoulder the whole ride. "Pardon me for falling asleep, Alpha Lucien." I played with my fingers because of embarrassment. A low melodic chuckle escaped his mouth. I stiffened when I felt his hot breath in my left ear. "I don't mind," he said. I tried closing my eyes to calm myself. His deep, raspy voice sends a tingling sensation in my body. When I opened my eyes, Alpha Lucien is already sitting inches away from me. "Shall we?" he asked while holding the door. I just gave him a simple nod as a response. He got down first and like a gentleman, he gave me his hand so he can guide me. As promised, Logan made me cookies, which surprisingly tastes good. He baked plenty so he shared it with Nana and Mama Melly as well. We were having a good time when I heard a familiar v
THE MORTAL REALM I'VE HEARD ABOUT the Mortal Realm but I've never been there before. The Mortal Realm is a world where only normal beings exist. No unnatural beings such as werewolves, vampires, or hybrids. It is also known to the people in Aldemore that the people in the Mortal Realm are afraid of unnatural beings, they considered them beastly and dangerous. But Ayla did mention before that not all people in the Mortal Realm are afraid of unnatural beings. Some of them are open-minded, but it still doesn't guarantee the safety of unnatural beings. The Mortal Realm, however, is said to be the closest to Aldemore. Because our ancestors had visited the Mortal Realm before, we have adopted some of its cultures and languages. However, they must remain unseen to avoid danger. Raven's confession last night was a big blow. From our family history down to his connection with Aveion. I just hope that they can settle their issues eventually especially now that both Raven and Lorkan's mat
