CHAPTER 2: THE BEGINNING OF AN END

***KYLIE***

I felt my body being dragged on a rather not so smooth path as I slipped in and out of consciousness.

“Should we leave her out here” I heard Thalia’s voice laced with fear ask.

“We can't; it's cold here, and anyone could find her easily; we have to bury them here,” Lucien replied in a low tone. “could you grab those shovels we packed back at the house?” he asked Thalia.

“Oh sure, where are they?” she asked.

“in the car…”

“You want me to walk back there, alone?” Thalia asked, in a tone louder than the one they've been conversing in.

“Shushhhh, keep it down. Would you rather stay with a dead body in this dark forest alone?” Lucien asked, and after a while of not hearing Thalia’s reply, Lucien added, “I didn't think so, so kindly go back to the car and grab the shovels,”

I heard the twigging of a branch as Thalia walked away from where we were, “and Thalia?,” Lucien called, and I saw her turn, though it was all blurry, “move fast, and carefully,” the hazy figure that I was sure was Thalia nodded and walked away, the sound of her retreating step becoming distant till I couldn't hear them anymore.

“I know you're not dead, Kylie,” Lucien said after Thalia was no longer in site, but I couldn't reply or make out any word; the pain I felt in my head was too much.

“but don't be angry, and don't turn to a vengeful wolf ghost; well, you're wolfless,” he said, then chuckled.

“If you survive, I know you'd run and tell the whole world what you saw, and I can't let that happen, not when I am close to my goal, but with you gone and dead, Caleb can't lift his curse and I will still end up being the alpha king of Woodthorn, either way, your disappearance is helpful, to my cause,” he said, but all I could think about was, how was I the one to lift the curse of Lucien’s brother, one whom no one had ever seen or met, all we knew was that he was cursed and could not be seen among us, and if he ended up becoming alpha without lifting his curse, Woodthorn would be forever doomed, but what did I have to do with this.

I heard footsteps approaching, “now, be a good girl and lay still; don't move an inch when Thalia gets here; we don't want her frightened now, do we?” Lucien said then patted my bloody head.

“I've got them,” Thalia called out, I could see her raising two long poles in the air, the shovels.

“Well then,” Lucien began, clapping his hands together, “we better start digging; we don't have all night,” and soon after, I heard the metallic clanking the shovel and the stones in the sound made.

I was there alive, and my grave was being dug before me, never had I ever imagined ending up like this in all of my existence.

“This should be deep enough,” Lucien said after he and Thalia had dug for a very long time. Thalia threw her shovel on the ground and dusted her palm, making a soft clapping sound.

“let's lift her into her new home,” she said, then came to where I lay and stood at my feet, “what are you staring at Lucien, come one, grab her hands, and let's throw her in,” she called out to Lucien who in turn made his way above my head.

“on the count of three.” Lucien said, and I could see Thalia nodding at him, “One, two, three,” and I was lifted off the ground, dangling in the; within a short walk in the air, I was harshly dumped into the shallow hole, they had both dug up, I winced in pain.

“wait,” I heard Thalia say.

“What?” Lucien asked.

“I think she just moved,” Thalia stated.

“she couldn't have; she's dead, Thalia; we both checked; you killed her back at the house, remember?” I heard Lucien lie to Thalia.

“Oh, true, maybe I'm just seeing things; this whole experience is new to me,” she pointed out.

“Thalia? Do you wish she was alive?” Lucien asked and I heard Thalia sigh deeply.

“She is my best friend and we have great memories together, I'll surely miss her, but, I'd rather have her dead than alive,” Thalia said, the pain from my split head was nothing compared to the one these two had inflicted on my heart, they were both the two people I trusted the most in this world, and now, they're the two people that was ending my existence.

“let's get it over with,” I hear Thalia say as she picks up her shovel, and Lucien does the same. within a matter of seconds, I could feel sand being poured on my body; I was being buried, ALIVE!

As they covered up my whole body and began to pour the sand over my face, a tear slid out of my eye, everywhere was getting dark, and before I knew it, there was no ray of moonlight again, I was completely beneath the ground, buried some feet down, and I could feel my end draw near.

“Let's get out of here,” I heard Lucien say distantly, and they left; I was left alone in the middle of nowhere, and I was dying.

With the little strength left in me, I wished in my heart.

“If there's any moon goddess that has been watching over all wolves from the ancient days to this present day, I wish you would save me, save me till I at least get my revenge on these two that had cheated me in all ways,” I earnestly begged, but I knew all of that was just some wolfless girl's wishing that could not be granted, so I succumbed to fate and slowly drifted away into a sleep that would be lasting forever. Death they call it.
