The members of the council all exchanged glances, and the room was filled with various discussions.
Odessa, the subject of the discussion, stood rooted in her place as she watched them talk about her, but sadly, there was nothing she could do. She twisted her toes in her shoes, a habit she had grown used to. She could not stand being in the spotlight. The king was staring at her, and for some reason, she was unable to calm down. Kaiden gave the council members more time to discuss, before finally raising his right hand to silence them. “I suggest we have a meeting, and the crown prince, my son should be present also,” King Kaiden suggested, and they all agreed. It was a feasible plan that could work. “Young lady, you will be summoned back in the next twenty minutes, you may leave,” Kaiden ordered, and she bowed before exiting the council room. Once she left, King Kaiden dismissed all members of the council, but he did send his second-in-command to get his son, Victor. While he was alone, he was in a bad mood. His brows creased repeatedly as he thought about what he had just found out a few minutes ago. He let out a mocking scoff. His son was about to become a father, he had mixed feelings about. Odessa did not go too far. Luckily, there was a hall just close to the council's office, so she settled in there. Meanwhile, the king's second-in-command found Victor with Princess Eira in a courtyard. They were having a romantic session, and it was too explicit for the old man who was sent to call the Prince. “Greetings Your Highnesses,” he greeted while clearing his throat, gaining the attention of the couple who were annoyed by the intrusion. Victor disentangled himself from Eira who had a blush on her face as she stood to the side. “What do you want, Skye?” Victor snapped at the man. He was irritated, his intimate time with his woman was interrupted by this foolish man. “Apologies Your Highness, I did not mean to interrupt your time with Princess Eira, but your father, alongside the council members requires your attention, and it is very urgent,” Skye delivered the news to him. “Why do they want to see me?” He questioned, his brows furrowing confused. “It is not in my place to say, I suggest you meet with them to find out what could be the cause,” Skye replied. He could not say anything else apart from this, he was not willing to give out more information. Victor glared at him, he knew what was running in the mind of the old man, and he was close to strangling him. They never got along with each other anyway. “Fine, I would be on my way,” he replied, while secretly sneering at his father's underdog. “I will be back,” he placed a kiss on Eira's forehead, before following behind Skye. While they made their way to the council's room, he thought about various reasons as to why his dad suddenly requested to see him. He did not get along with his dad, hell, his dad did not even show up for his birthday celebration. He had different thoughts as to why his dad decided to see him out of the blues. Likewise, he did not even think that it perhaps had to do with Odessa. They finally reached the room, and Skye gestured for him to go in. He fixed his gaze on the old man for a while, scoffed before walking into the room. “Greetings Father, and Council members,” he greeted with his head bowed. At least, he still had the awareness, and knew when to be respectful. “You asked to see me, may I know the reason?” He cautiously asked, as he took in the expressions of every member present in the room, and they were not looking friendly. “Bring her in, I believe she is in the hall close to this place,” King Kaiden ordered one of his guards. Victor turned to look at the door. He was baffled. Who were they bringing in? And what does it have to do with him? These questions were on his mind, but he could only wait. Even at this time, he was unable to liken it to Odessa. He did not need to wait long for his question to be answered as Odessa was brought into the room. His mouth parted as he watched Odessa walk into the room, and came to stand beside him. He looked at her, and words could not express his surprise, He suddenly felt foreboding, and his father's next words were enough for him to know what she had done. “Victor, this young lady claims to be pregnant for you, can you please tell us if it is the truth?” King Kaiden asked, as he squinted at his son who in turn, snapped his head to glare at Odessa who swallowed in fright. “I am not the father of the child in her belly, as a matter of fact, I want to report her to you,” Victor spoke, turning his head to her, smirk dancing on his lips. Odessa suddenly had an ominous feeling. Her breathing turned heavy, as she held her stomach. “This particular maid has been trying to get into my bed since she arrived into his pack, she is despicable, and would do anything to get what she wants,” Victor lied without batting an eyelid. Odessa gasped loudly as she refuted almost immediately, “that is a lie,” she covered her mouth, she was not expecting him to say such a big lie which could be damaging to her reputation. “Your highness, please believe me, I did not do what he had said, we were mates, until he rejected me, and asked me to abort the baby in my womb, I will not get anything from framing the Crown Prince,” Odessa was desperate to prove herself. She panicked as she could see the members of the council stare at her with ridiculous looks. Of course, they would not believe her. She was no more than a helpless maid, while Victor was a prince, the future King of the pack. She looked towards the king, he was the only one who could help her. Her eyes showed the pain and desperation she felt within, while her forehead was covered with sweat. She did not want to lose her baby, neither her life. “I have made my decision,” King Kaiden spoke up, and the entire surroundings turned quiet immediately, just to listen to what he had to say. Odessa had her heart in her mouth as he bit her lips heavily until it almost bled. “We would conduct a paternity test, this is the only way we can know who is telling the truth,” King Kaiden announced. Odessa heaved a sigh of relief, she felt it was feasible, since he was truly the father of her child, what she did not expect was that he would agree easily. “That is fine by me,” he replied almost immediately, agreeing to his father's decision. Odessa snapped her head towards him, she wondered why he agreed. She squinted her eyes at him, trying to figure out what he was planning. Victor turned to look at her, his brows raised, a conceited smirk on his face, and she shuddered. She was scared as she rubbed her arms, while swallowing slightly. The world around them went silent. Everyone, even Urelycus who was lost in his own grief seconds ago couldn't help but watch the incident that just took place in the middle of the field. The ice that had struck itself into the King’s chest melted away, leaving only a red patch on his dark robe. “O—Odessa,” The King called out, his voice breaking as he stared at his mate in his arms, bleeding from the hole in her chest, blood spluttering from her lips. Her gaze locked on his, the fear, the pain, the sadness, the love and the regret, Kaiden could see it all in her eyes. He looked down to the hole in her chest, where his hands laid, trying to stop the bleeding. “Odessa, Odessa, please….Help! Someone help me please!” King Kaiden yelled out in pain as his vision blurred with tears, looking down at his pregnant mate. Odessa wanted to comfort him, comfort them both as she could see the constant switch between gold and red until both appeared, one eye gold and the other red. “No, no, no
AUTHOR'S POV"Let her go." Kaiden growled at Lariel as he watched his mate being suspended in the air by the latter's grip on her neck. Her legs thrashed around as she fought for her life."Lariel! Stop! She's pregnant for God's sake." Urelycus yelled at his son, his cautious gaze drifting to Kaiden."It's not often that anyone gets their hands on the Lycan king's weakness; why should I let go of such a rare chance?" Lariel asked, his head tilted to the side with a creepy smile on his face."Fine, fine, just ease your grip around her neck. She's the reason the Lycan king hasn't torn you apart yet." Urelycus tried to reason with his son, and he could see the moment of contemplation in Lariel's eyes as his son reasoned with what he said. Lariel's grip slowly loosened, and Odessa quickly took in a much-needed breath; her gaze went straight to her mate's, who was rooted to a spot, brewing with anger as he stared back at her helplessly."I can't believe that you would be so weak for someon
AUTHOR’S POV“What the hell was that?” Kaiden asked as the scene disappeared from sight. “That is what will happen in the next hour if we don't hurry up!” Urelycus responded and the witch Matriarch walked to the center, stretching her hand out as she chanted a spell, little spark appeared in the air, before small tiny holes began to appear and grow bigger as her chant increased. She didn't stop until each hole was the same size as a fully grown human. There were seven holes in total, each one in the eight realms of the world, showing the scene of the hall where the Kings and Queens of those teams were seated. One in Dokrado, the land of the dragons,One in Cornelia, the land of the PhoenixOne in Petrakia, the land of the BasiliskOne in Delphinea, the land of Charybdis MastersOne in Elegia, the land of the BansheesOne in Salem-Zul, the land of the FaeAnd the last in Muhindr, the land of the fairy. “By the works of Zeus, is that a portal?” King Aetherius asked as he moved closer
AUTHOR’S POV“And now, I'm going to take what really belongs to me!” Eira chuckled, and Odessa glared at her angrily. “What belongs to you? Nothing ever belonged to you, Eira. You stole everything from me just like your mom tried to do to my parents. Guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree then—” Her head was whacked to the side by a forceful blow from Eira. “All is fair in love and war, Odessa.” And right in her presence, Eira flipped open a small vial and poured the entire contents into her mouth. Odessa arched as Eira’s eyes turned to an ugly mix of purple and green. The latter smiles creepily before standing on her feet and walking off. Odessa curled into herself as she suddenly felt exposed to the people wearing black cloaks on their bodies; she watched as they drew different symbols on the floor and brought in weird ornaments and objects that creeped the hell out of her. Odessa quickly bowed, covering her eyes and ears and falling asleep as the drug in her system hadn
AUTHOR’S POVOdessa woke up to the feeling of cold water all over her body. Her heavy eyes slowly adjusted to the dim brightness of the cave, and her eyes roamed the walls that looked like they'd seen a million murders. “Ahhh, sleeping beauty is finally awake.” Her head snapped in front of her as she stared at Eira, who slowly crouched down to look at her at eye level. “Where am I?” Odessa asked as she stared at the cloak-covered people walking around them, glancing at her from the corner of their eyes before walking away and completely ignoring her existence. “And who are these people?” “This…” Eira gestured at the cave, “This is your gravesite, and these people are your fans.” She smiled genuinely, and Odessa tilted her head to the side. The smile on Eira’s face quickly disappeared. “You don't look fazed.” Odessa shrugged, perks of having the moon goddess as your cab driver. “Did you kidnap me just to kill me, or is there something different that you want?”“Hmm, I'm quite disa
CHAPTER 186AUTHOR’S POVThe manservant fell on his two knees as he approached the two kings, his hand shivering as he held out a letter to the Lycan King."Your Majesty, I've been trying to reach you for days." The manservant said, his gaze completely fixed on Kaiden even as King Odesseus stared at him in confusion. "Hammed, do you know where my mate is?" Kaiden asked, reaching for the paper in the servant's hands.Hammed nodded, "Last night, after the princess was placed on house arrest, I went to her chambers and lingered in the hallway, watching out for her like you ordered, when I saw Princess Eira walking up to the guards and whispering something in their ears. I couldn't hear them properly, but she was given access even after the King ordered that no one visit Princess Odessa in her chambers."Hammed paused, glancing at King Odesseus, wondering how he would say what he was about to say next without losing his tongue."Hammed!" Kaiden called out warningly, and the spy gulped.
