The members of the council all exchanged glances, and the room was filled with various discussions.
Odessa, the subject of the discussion, stood rooted in her place as she watched them talk about her, but sadly, there was nothing she could do. She twisted her toes in her shoes, a habit she had grown used to. She could not stand being in the spotlight. The king was staring at her, and for some reason, she was unable to calm down. Kaiden gave the council members more time to discuss, before finally raising his right hand to silence them. “I suggest we have a meeting, and the crown prince, my son should be present also,” King Kaiden suggested, and they all agreed. It was a feasible plan that could work. “Young lady, you will be summoned back in the next twenty minutes, you may leave,” Kaiden ordered, and she bowed before exiting the council room. Once she left, King Kaiden dismissed all members of the council, but he did send his second-in-command to get his son, Victor. While he was alone, he was in a bad mood. His brows creased repeatedly as he thought about what he had just found out a few minutes ago. He let out a mocking scoff. His son was about to become a father, he had mixed feelings about. Odessa did not go too far. Luckily, there was a hall just close to the council's office, so she settled in there. Meanwhile, the king's second-in-command found Victor with Princess Eira in a courtyard. They were having a romantic session, and it was too explicit for the old man who was sent to call the Prince. “Greetings Your Highnesses,” he greeted while clearing his throat, gaining the attention of the couple who were annoyed by the intrusion. Victor disentangled himself from Eira who had a blush on her face as she stood to the side. “What do you want, Skye?” Victor snapped at the man. He was irritated, his intimate time with his woman was interrupted by this foolish man. “Apologies Your Highness, I did not mean to interrupt your time with Princess Eira, but your father, alongside the council members requires your attention, and it is very urgent,” Skye delivered the news to him. “Why do they want to see me?” He questioned, his brows furrowing confused. “It is not in my place to say, I suggest you meet with them to find out what could be the cause,” Skye replied. He could not say anything else apart from this, he was not willing to give out more information. Victor glared at him, he knew what was running in the mind of the old man, and he was close to strangling him. They never got along with each other anyway. “Fine, I would be on my way,” he replied, while secretly sneering at his father's underdog. “I will be back,” he placed a kiss on Eira's forehead, before following behind Skye. While they made their way to the council's room, he thought about various reasons as to why his dad suddenly requested to see him. He did not get along with his dad, hell, his dad did not even show up for his birthday celebration. He had different thoughts as to why his dad decided to see him out of the blues. Likewise, he did not even think that it perhaps had to do with Odessa. They finally reached the room, and Skye gestured for him to go in. He fixed his gaze on the old man for a while, scoffed before walking into the room. “Greetings Father, and Council members,” he greeted with his head bowed. At least, he still had the awareness, and knew when to be respectful. “You asked to see me, may I know the reason?” He cautiously asked, as he took in the expressions of every member present in the room, and they were not looking friendly. “Bring her in, I believe she is in the hall close to this place,” King Kaiden ordered one of his guards. Victor turned to look at the door. He was baffled. Who were they bringing in? And what does it have to do with him? These questions were on his mind, but he could only wait. Even at this time, he was unable to liken it to Odessa. He did not need to wait long for his question to be answered as Odessa was brought into the room. His mouth parted as he watched Odessa walk into the room, and came to stand beside him. He looked at her, and words could not express his surprise, He suddenly felt foreboding, and his father's next words were enough for him to know what she had done. “Victor, this young lady claims to be pregnant for you, can you please tell us if it is the truth?” King Kaiden asked, as he squinted at his son who in turn, snapped his head to glare at Odessa who swallowed in fright. “I am not the father of the child in her belly, as a matter of fact, I want to report her to you,” Victor spoke, turning his head to her, smirk dancing on his lips. Odessa suddenly had an ominous feeling. Her breathing turned heavy, as she held her stomach. “This particular maid has been trying to get into my bed since she arrived into his pack, she is despicable, and would do anything to get what she wants,” Victor lied without batting an eyelid. Odessa gasped loudly as she refuted almost immediately, “that is a lie,” she covered her mouth, she was not expecting him to say such a big lie which could be damaging to her reputation. “Your highness, please believe me, I did not do what he had said, we were mates, until he rejected me, and asked me to abort the baby in my womb, I will not get anything from framing the Crown Prince,” Odessa was desperate to prove herself. She panicked as she could see the members of the council stare at her with ridiculous looks. Of course, they would not believe her. She was no more than a helpless maid, while Victor was a prince, the future King of the pack. She looked towards the king, he was the only one who could help her. Her eyes showed the pain and desperation she felt within, while her forehead was covered with sweat. She did not want to lose her baby, neither her life. “I have made my decision,” King Kaiden spoke up, and the entire surroundings turned quiet immediately, just to listen to what he had to say. Odessa had her heart in her mouth as he bit her lips heavily until it almost bled. “We would conduct a paternity test, this is the only way we can know who is telling the truth,” King Kaiden announced. Odessa heaved a sigh of relief, she felt it was feasible, since he was truly the father of her child, what she did not expect was that he would agree easily. “That is fine by me,” he replied almost immediately, agreeing to his father's decision. Odessa snapped her head towards him, she wondered why he agreed. She squinted her eyes at him, trying to figure out what he was planning. Victor turned to look at her, his brows raised, a conceited smirk on his face, and she shuddered. She was scared as she rubbed her arms, while swallowing slightly. After King Kaiden dismissed all of them, Odessa walked to her room with a heavy expression. She could not stop thinking of what Victor was planning to do. She had been with him for a while, and she was aware of what he could do.'Do you know what he is planning to do? He easily agreed to have a paternity test,' Her wolf questioned.'I have no idea,' Odessa shook her head negatively. She took a seat on her bed while biting her fingernails.'I only hope everything works out fine,' her wolf mentioned, and she nodded in agreement. She sat on the bed, she felt on edge. She could not stop biting her fingernails; she was distressed. She was suddenly jolted by the knock on her door, her entire body tensed up immediately as she heard the knock.“Come in,” she swallowed, before responding. Her body had goosebumps as the person who was at the door came in.She heaved a sigh once she saw that it was a maid.“Princess Eira requests to see you,” the maid informed, and her body jolted as though an e
The King stared at his little princess with a worried expression. He scooted closer to her, but Odessa quickly backed away. This man was the father of the witch that had killed her, she'd be damned if she let him come close to her, dream or not. Moon Goddess! What fucking game are you playing this time?Odessa scowled when she felt a pricking pain in her heart at the sight of pain in the eyes of the King. “You must have hit your head badly when you fell. I knew I should never have allowed you to venture out alone.” The King said with sadness. His princess was the only thing of joy in his life and even now, she was avoiding him like a plague. Odessa looked around the room she'd woken up in for the first time and her jaw almost detached from her head. This is not a bedroom! She thought to herself. Her gaze roamed the entirety of the bedroom. Different shades of purple and white damask hung from one part of the wall to the other. ‘Is that…Is that a freaking gold and purple velvet ta
As soon as their gaze met, Odessa felt a sucker punch in the gut, and it felt like she was flying back to the past, back to the first time they met as mates, back to their first kiss, their first night out under the moonlight. This was her first time seeing him after her rebirth and she had to say, the feelings she was going through now were not what she was expecting. She'd imagined what her reaction would be when she met him for the first time, but this was nothing compared to it. There was no burning rage or boiling anger; there wasn't a need to claw his face off or pull his eyeballs out of their sockets. No, she didn't feel any of these things…she just felt calm and peaceful. Odessa had burned out all her pent-up hatred throughout the years, while she would not let him escape his punishment for what he did to her, she also wasn't so blinded by hatred that she'd make a move without thinking. Her father had taught her that the only way to bring down her enemies was by strategic
Odessa smiled, “So I have to come back with you to your palace right?” Victor eagerly nodded, today was going super great for him. He didn't even have to put in so much effort. “Of course.” “One year,” Odessa said. “Pardon?” Victor’s eyebrows raised in confusion. “I want to stay with my father for one year. You can come visit me whenever you like, but I won't be living in my kingdom for a year. Is that okay with you?” Odessa asked. Not that she cared anyway if it was okay for him. She had plenty of time to destroy him slowly but she needed to make sure she spent as much time as possible with her father. “No, of course not. I can't wait a year. It's too far.” Victor frowned. He has conjured up a future with the beautiful Odessa as his wife and Luna, standing by his side with the little time he had spent in the garden. It's funny how quickly a man has dreams involving a woman he only just met a couple of hours ago. Odessa nodded, “Fine.” Victor thought she would change her mind an
ODESSA’S POV“Amazing right?” Victor asked, standing too close to me but I was too immersed with admiring the palace’s beautiful structure to care. “Yes.” “Come on, let me introduce you to my father. He's been waiting all year.” Victor said. It wasn't until I looked down wondering why he had suddenly gone silent, did I know the reason. His hands were outstretched, waiting for me to place mine in them. It's one thing to avoid touching him and it's another to reject him. If I don't give him my hand, then I'll be rejecting him publicly. So I took a deep breath, patted myself on the back for choosing to wear a hand glove, and placed mine in his. As soon as our palms made contact, I was waiting for the stupid realization to happen, but it never did. Victor pulled me into the palace, and now, because of the different structure, there's no way I would know my way around the place. Bonus points. It’s like the universe is looking out for me. My mind was swirling with so many reasons as t
ODESSA’S POVNo…that can't be. What….what is happening?“Princess, is everything okay?” The guard asked, walking up to me. “That maid, the one that went into the Prince’s bedroom. Who is she?” I asked.“Oh, that's Eira. She's the Prince’s personal maid.” He said with a bow. I turned around fast to look at him. “Per…personal maid?” He nodded and I looked at the closed door again. What sort of crazy twist is this? How…“Princess…” The guard called out. “Let's…let's go. We have an engagement to prepare for.” I said, and Hugo led Evelyn and me to our respective rooms. Evelyn’s room was right next to mine with a connecting door for easy access. “Princess, you've been disturbed ever since we met that maid, Eira. Is anything the matter?” She asked with that soft accent of hers. I shook my head, “Nothing. It's just…I feel bothered by her presence.” That was a lie; I know for a fact that Victor and Eira are roughing it up in the sheets; I did the same thing with him, too. What I don't u
ODESSA’S POVMy legs, which had been playing and splashing around in the water, suddenly stopped. Without bothering to look at who had come to disturb my peace of mind, I continued playing in the water. “Ignoring me? That's a new one.” He chuckled and settled down beside me, kicking off his shoes as well. I wanted to turn to him and tell him that he didn't even know I existed in my previous world and now…“Should a King be seen sitting on the floor and playing by the pool?” I asked, my gaze fixed on the moon. “I'm a King. I can do whatever I want, even if it's to spend the entire engagement party with my son’s fiancee who looks unbothered by the fact that her future husband just went after his side piece.” I frowned and looked at him, his eyebrows raised as if he was urging me to say what was on my mind. “You're very talkative for a King.” I scowled and looked back to the sky. He laughed and replied, “My late wife once told me beautiful women bring out that side of me.” Minutes
ODESSA’S POV “Your Highness, isn't that your personal maid?” watching as Eira made her way to us. Victor looked at Eira as if he was just seeing her for the first time before he turned to look at me, laughing nervously and scratching the back of his neck. “Yes, she is. But she asked for a request and I decided to grant it to her because of her true years of service to me.” He said with a smile. “His Highness is so gracious and generous, even to his servants,” I said sarcastically. The King chuckled and Victor looked proud. “Princess.” Eira curtsied. “Thank you for your generosity, Your Highness. But I'd like to decline. I don't need your maid. I'll feel watched and monitored. Perhaps you're sending her to me so that she can be your own little spy.” I said, swirling my tea in one hand, not bothering to look at Victor or Eira. If both of them think I'm stupid enough to accept her, then they've clearly underestimated me.” “Your Highness, if I may speak,” Eira said, directi
