“I need an explanation, why did you do it? Why did you decide to hurt me this way?” Odessa questioned.
She impulsively hit his chest, pounding hard on it. Victor did not do anything, instead, he allowed her to do what she wanted. When he could not take the pounding on his chest anymore, he held her wrist, preventing her from continuing. She raised her head to look up at him, her eyes were glossy with tears, the ones she was trying to hold back from falling. “You do not beat a prince that way,” he muttered coldly, as he flung her away. She moved far away from him as a result of the force at which he used to fling her. She rubbed the spot on the wrist which he had held tightly, while she looked at him with heartache. Likewise, she could not understand why he changed. It was not this way, they even had fun last night, but it was an entirely different situation today. “I need to know, at least, I deserve an explanation from you, is that too much to ask from you?” Odessa's eyes had distress in them, her brows drawn together while she asked for an explanation in a barely audible voice. “I do not owe you any explanation; it is my choice. I am entitled to choose whoever I want to be my Luna, and you are not fit to be my Luna,” Victor sneered at her. “But I'm your mate!” She yelled in return. She held her forehead as she paced in front of him. Not only that, but she wanted to let out all her frustrations, but she could not. Furthermore, she had no idea why he treated her that way. “Odessa,” he called with a gentle whisper. Odessa felt as though she was hearing things. She snapped her head towards him, she did not know if her eyes were playing tricks on her, but she could see the gentleness in her eyes, one which he always showed to her. “Victor,” she foolishly whispered. “Odessa,” Victor called out again, but this time, Odessa had an ominous feeling. She sensed that what he was about to say to her was going to break her beyond repair. “I, Prince Victor, the future king of the Supreme Sky Pack…” He paused as he basked in her expression of heartbreak. “Do not say what you are about to say,” she pleaded. She finally realized what he wanted to say. Even her wolf felt it as she panicked. Meanwhile, Victor was not willing to listen to her cries. Rather, he enjoyed seeing her that way. “Rejects you, Odessa Nightingale, as my mate,” he finally completed his words, and he breathed out through his lips. Somehow, he felt overjoyed about it. He felt something snap, and he likened it to the mate bond. He felt at peace after rejecting her. Nevertheless, they had been mates. Therefore, he still felt pain. But he was the one who rejected her, so it did not affect him a lot. He only rubbed his chest a bit, before getting himself back to normal. Odessa, on the other hand, had her hands over her ears in a bid to cover her ears from hearing what he had to say. However, that was not enough as she could perfectly hear what he said. She could feel her heart shattering into pieces which would be difficult to fix. Her wolf groaned in pain. She fell to her knees, her hands placed on her chest; she gasped for air but everywhere felt suffocating for her. She could not breathe properly as she coughed slightly. Victor looked at her, and he felt a bit bad for her sake. He wanted to help her up, but he decided against it. He would rather not have anything to do with her. Odessa looked up, her breathing had already turned shallow. She thought he would help her up, but she was thinking too much. She finally realized that he did not want anything to do with her. Suddenly, her eyes dazzled, and it looked beautiful due to the presence of unshed tears in her eyes. Victor noticed how her eyes brightened, and he wondered if she had gone crazy due to rejection. He took a step back, cautiously. He had always heard of stories of werewolves who went feral after rejection. They could maul anyone they see, and they could not think straight anymore. He only hoped Odessa had not gone feral as he watched her rise to her feet. He stared at her with caution, moving back at the same time. Odessa, who had been likened to someone who, had gone feral, had something on her mind. She suddenly recalled that she had something which might allow him to return to her. She held her stomach as she flashed him a bright smile which caught him off guard. “I have something to tell you, and I hope this might make you reconsider your decision,” she spoke with confidence. She had that much confidence in what she was about to say. Victor was about to ignore her, but he shook his head internally. He decided to listen to what she had to say. “Go on,” he ordered. “Victor.” “Your Highness,” he cut her off, correcting her immediately. She looked at him and took a deep breath before calling out, “Your Highness!” “I am pleased to announce to you that I am carrying your child, your child is growing in my belly,” Odessa finally announced to him. “What?” He asked, her words taking him by surprise. “Please repeat what you said.” He asked as he dug his hands into his ears. He thought that he was hearing things. Odessa thought he was excited by the news, and therefore, she repeated it once more, but this time, with an excited voice, her lips twitched with excitement. “I am pregnant with your child, your Highness.” She laid heavy emphasis on the world, 'Highness.' “That is not possible,” Victor shook his head in denial. He did not want to believe what she said, how could she be pregnant? “What do you mean by that? We made love two months ago, and this is the result,” Odessa was confused by his reaction. She had thought he would be excited, he would scream out for joy, but his reaction exceeded her expectations. “You would have to abort the child, Odessa,” he informed her while he paced about, one of his hands on his weight, while the other was on his forehead. He knew he was in a serious predicament at the moment. “What? I can't believe you would say something like that; it is also your child,” Odessa stared at him with wide eyes; she was astonished. She fixed her gaze on him, she was stupefied, and it hurt even more when he did not feel remorseful.“This is not you speaking, I am sure of that, I believe you must be scared of what your dad might think if he finds out we are mates, after all, I am a nobody,” Odessa shook her head frantically, she did not want to believe that he could utter such words.“I am not doing this because I am scared of my dad; I am doing it willingly. I do not want you, and neither do I want the baby in your womb,” he spoke harshly to her.Odessa did not know how long she could take his insults, but she was breaking down. It felt as though her soul was ripped out from her heart. “No, do not say that, I do not believe you,” Odessa cried out while covering her ears. She would rather not listen to his hurtful words.“Odessa, you have to believe me; this is what I have decided: abort the child; I would rather not find out you still kept the child,” he said his piece before walking away, not caring how much hi
The members of the council all exchanged glances, and the room was filled with various discussions.Odessa, the subject of the discussion, stood rooted in her place as she watched them talk about her, but sadly, there was nothing she could do.She twisted her toes in her shoes, a habit she had grown used to. She could not stand being in the spotlight. The king was staring at her, and for some reason, she was unable to calm down.Kaiden gave the council members more time to discuss, before finally raising his right hand to silence them.“I suggest we have a meeting, and the crown prince, my son should be present also,” King Kaiden suggested, and they all agreed. It was a feasible plan that could work.“Young lady, you will be summoned back in the next twenty minutes, you may leave,” Kaiden ordered, and she bowed before exiting the council room.Once she left, King Kaiden dismissed all members of the council, but he did send his second-in-command to get his son, Victor. While he was alo
After King Kaiden dismissed all of them, Odessa walked to her room with a heavy expression. She could not stop thinking of what Victor was planning to do. She had been with him for a while, and she was aware of what he could do.'Do you know what he is planning to do? He easily agreed to have a paternity test,' Her wolf questioned.'I have no idea,' Odessa shook her head negatively. She took a seat on her bed while biting her fingernails.'I only hope everything works out fine,' her wolf mentioned, and she nodded in agreement. She sat on the bed, she felt on edge. She could not stop biting her fingernails; she was distressed. She was suddenly jolted by the knock on her door, her entire body tensed up immediately as she heard the knock.“Come in,” she swallowed, before responding. Her body had goosebumps as the person who was at the door came in.She heaved a sigh once she saw that it was a maid.“Princess Eira requests to see you,” the maid informed, and her body jolted as though an e
The King stared at his little princess with a worried expression. He scooted closer to her, but Odessa quickly backed away. This man was the father of the witch that had killed her, she'd be damned if she let him come close to her, dream or not. Moon Goddess! What fucking game are you playing this time?Odessa scowled when she felt a pricking pain in her heart at the sight of pain in the eyes of the King. “You must have hit your head badly when you fell. I knew I should never have allowed you to venture out alone.” The King said with sadness. His princess was the only thing of joy in his life and even now, she was avoiding him like a plague. Odessa looked around the room she'd woken up in for the first time and her jaw almost detached from her head. This is not a bedroom! She thought to herself. Her gaze roamed the entirety of the bedroom. Different shades of purple and white damask hung from one part of the wall to the other. ‘Is that…Is that a freaking gold and purple velvet ta
As soon as their gaze met, Odessa felt a sucker punch in the gut, and it felt like she was flying back to the past, back to the first time they met as mates, back to their first kiss, their first night out under the moonlight. This was her first time seeing him after her rebirth and she had to say, the feelings she was going through now were not what she was expecting. She'd imagined what her reaction would be when she met him for the first time, but this was nothing compared to it. There was no burning rage or boiling anger; there wasn't a need to claw his face off or pull his eyeballs out of their sockets. No, she didn't feel any of these things…she just felt calm and peaceful. Odessa had burned out all her pent-up hatred throughout the years, while she would not let him escape his punishment for what he did to her, she also wasn't so blinded by hatred that she'd make a move without thinking. Her father had taught her that the only way to bring down her enemies was by strategic
Odessa smiled, “So I have to come back with you to your palace right?” Victor eagerly nodded, today was going super great for him. He didn't even have to put in so much effort. “Of course.” “One year,” Odessa said. “Pardon?” Victor’s eyebrows raised in confusion. “I want to stay with my father for one year. You can come visit me whenever you like, but I won't be living in my kingdom for a year. Is that okay with you?” Odessa asked. Not that she cared anyway if it was okay for him. She had plenty of time to destroy him slowly but she needed to make sure she spent as much time as possible with her father. “No, of course not. I can't wait a year. It's too far.” Victor frowned. He has conjured up a future with the beautiful Odessa as his wife and Luna, standing by his side with the little time he had spent in the garden. It's funny how quickly a man has dreams involving a woman he only just met a couple of hours ago. Odessa nodded, “Fine.” Victor thought she would change her mind an
ODESSA’S POV“Amazing right?” Victor asked, standing too close to me but I was too immersed with admiring the palace’s beautiful structure to care. “Yes.” “Come on, let me introduce you to my father. He's been waiting all year.” Victor said. It wasn't until I looked down wondering why he had suddenly gone silent, did I know the reason. His hands were outstretched, waiting for me to place mine in them. It's one thing to avoid touching him and it's another to reject him. If I don't give him my hand, then I'll be rejecting him publicly. So I took a deep breath, patted myself on the back for choosing to wear a hand glove, and placed mine in his. As soon as our palms made contact, I was waiting for the stupid realization to happen, but it never did. Victor pulled me into the palace, and now, because of the different structure, there's no way I would know my way around the place. Bonus points. It’s like the universe is looking out for me. My mind was swirling with so many reasons as t
ODESSA’S POVNo…that can't be. What….what is happening?“Princess, is everything okay?” The guard asked, walking up to me. “That maid, the one that went into the Prince’s bedroom. Who is she?” I asked.“Oh, that's Eira. She's the Prince’s personal maid.” He said with a bow. I turned around fast to look at him. “Per…personal maid?” He nodded and I looked at the closed door again. What sort of crazy twist is this? How…“Princess…” The guard called out. “Let's…let's go. We have an engagement to prepare for.” I said, and Hugo led Evelyn and me to our respective rooms. Evelyn’s room was right next to mine with a connecting door for easy access. “Princess, you've been disturbed ever since we met that maid, Eira. Is anything the matter?” She asked with that soft accent of hers. I shook my head, “Nothing. It's just…I feel bothered by her presence.” That was a lie; I know for a fact that Victor and Eira are roughing it up in the sheets; I did the same thing with him, too. What I don't u
