Chapter 1

The hall was bustling with the pack members, as they discussed among each other.

Odessa stood at the extreme as she watched everything with a smile. Suddenly, everywhere became silent, someone had taken a spot on the podium.

Odessa beamed as she recognized who the person was. It was the crown prince of the Supreme Sky Pack, and also her mate, Victor Valor.

Victor's eyes swept over everyone present in the room, and he smiled, seeing that they were quiet, which was something he basked in.

“Greetings, my pack members,” Victor greeted with a smile on his face.

Odessa sat up straight on hearing his voice.

“As you all know, today is my birthday,” he paused and there was loud cheering from the people, and he raised his hands to stop them from cheering.

“Therefore, I have decided to present my Luna to you all,” he completed, and the applause this time was much louder than the previous one.

Odessa's breathing turned rapid as she twisted her fingers a bit, her face flushed due to how excited she felt about the announcement.

Victor, on the other hand, basked in the applause, before he raised his hands, indicating for them to stop.

“Are you eager to know who my Luna would be?” He asked, his eyes observing everyone before landing on a particular person.

He removed his gaze from the person, still having a smile on his face.

“Tell us! We want to know!” The pack members all chanted, eager to know who was going to be their future Luna.

“My Luna is no other person but my betrothed, Princess Eira,” Victor announced with a smirk dancing on his lips, and everyone cheered.

Meanwhile, Odessa could only watch on, feeling speechless. No words could describe how she felt when she heard his announcement.

She had been waiting for this, but she had miscalculated one thing. She had thought her name would be announced, her mouth opened and closed, and she was unable to give reason to how she felt at the moment,

The pack members worsened it by cheering loudly, and Odessa could only stand, looking foolish.

Eira smiled once her name was announced, and she bowed at the people, before walking to the podium.

Odessa could only look on, she had no words to utter. It felt like her heart was being squeezed out of her body. Her breathing became frantic, and it seemed like she was experiencing a panic attack.

She looked at the poised, calm, and elegant Eira. Then she looked at herself, the disparity between the both of them was magnified.

She was nothing but a maid, while Eira was a princess. The difference between the both of them was too large, and she felt pity for herself. She was not as elegant, either.

She could finally understand why Victor would want Eira as his Luna. But she could not still accept the fact that she was not the one; after all, both of them were mates.

She could not stay in the hall anymore as it felt like the walls were closing in on her. She could literally end up dead if she continued staying there.

Furthermore, she walked out of the hall, but she turned back after reaching the exit, apparently, everyone was too joyous to even notice her gone.

She shook her head with a mocking smile before she finally exited the hall.

What she did not know was that Victor watched her exiting the hall, and a smirk danced on his lips as he watched her leave before casually draping his hands around Eira, who looked at him with love-filled eyes.

Odessa walked around aimlessly, tears escaping from her eyes. She did not know when her legs brought her to a place where she held her dear to her heart, the garden; it was the place where she met with Victor and found out that she was his mate.

She exhaled as she walked around the garden touching each flower with an absentminded look on her face.

Furthermore, she recalled when she first met Prince Victor Valor, her mate. She had been watching the flowers bloom, one of the few things she enjoyed doing when she was less busy.

*Flashback*

She had smelled a smell and her entire body tensed up just by smelling it. The smell was feral and intense, with notes of damp soil and untamed power.

Her entire body shivered as she could feel someone was watching her.

She immediately snapped her head towards the source, and she noticed she was not alone.

She could not see the person, but she could sense his presence, and it was primal. Her mind told her to run, but her body forced her to stay.

“Mate!” She heard the growl, and she was rendered motionless. She was not expecting this, and it came as a surprise to her.

Likewise, she watched as her mate walked out of the shadows, and the astonishment she felt in her heart was not to be explained.

Not only that, but she recognized who her supposed mate was, it was the prince of the Supreme Sky Pack, Prince Victor Valor.

“Your Highness,” she immediately bowed. She could not ignore traditions, despite him being her mate.

“You may rise,” she only raised her head once she received his acknowledgment.

“You are my mate; you do not need to give me such a treatment; we are both equals,” he said to her, and she nodded, albeit sacred.

From that day, they both spent numerous intimate moments with each other in that garden. Victor even tagged it to be the garden of love

*Flashback Ends*

As she ran her hands through the flowers, her tears fell, harder than the previous one.

She held her hurting chest, words could not explain how she felt.

She suddenly felt someone behind her, and she knew who it was immediately. Her nose was still functioning, or rather, she had not been rejected. Therefore, she could still recognize his smell.

“You are here!” She commented without turning her face towards him after she had cleaned her eyes. She did not want him to see her weak, but was that possible?

“Turn your face to me,” he ordered.

She exhaled, she was compelled to do so. He still had the princely aura around her, and therefore, she could not ignore him.

Once she turned to him, she thought she would not show any signs of weakness, but her heart broke just by seeing his face, and it hurt even more since he had no remorseful look on his face.

Rather, she could see the contempt, taunt, and distaste in his eyes for her, as a smirk played on his lips.

“Why?” Her mouth was faster than her mind as she blurted out the question.

She looked at him while waiting for his answer.
