CHAPTER 001
"Ugh..."
Pain shot through her entire being as the cold metal chains bit into her wrists, suspending her in the dimly lit room. The scent of blood in the room—her blood—hit her nose. At this point, it was all she could breathe in.
Her mind was slipping.
It was slowly becoming dark, and she tried to focus on something, anything. But it didn't work; the pain overwhelmed her, gnawing ruthlessly at her consciousness.
She couldn't remember how long she'd been locked up here—months, years? She had no idea. Being locked up here, time had lost all meaning to her.
Step...
Step...
The sound of footsteps approaching made her tremble subconsciously. Who was that?
She looked up in a panic, and her eyes met a pair curved in a smile. She shivered from the chill she felt from those blue eyes she had once thought were warm.
Matteo.
"Lucia..." he called out gently as he walked up in front of her. She could see his perfectly styled hair, his expensive immaculate suit, and the smile that hung on his lips.
"You're still alive? How admirable." Laughing, he tilted his head to stare at her gently.
For a moment, it seemed as if he wasn't the very beast who had locked her here. It almost seemed as if he was her friend again.
However, his next words brought her back to reality. "... Are you waiting for someone to save you? It's pointless, dear. No one's coming to save you."
He whispered in a tone that seemed like the affectionate words of a lover, but his words cut deeper than any of the wounds he'd inflicted on her.
He was right.
No one was coming to save her. He was her ‘mate,’ after all.
Her only family left had conspired to hand her over to him. They had viewed her as nothing more than a pawn to be used and discarded when it lost its value.
The entire werewolf community viewed her as some sort of secret weapon that deserved to be hidden away from their enemies.
And Dante... he was still heartbroken over her marriage to Matteo. He would never suspect their plan. In his view, she was safer with Matteo.
If only he knew...
Tears welled up in her eyes, and she bit her lips, determined to hold them back. She wouldn't cry. She wouldn't give him that satisfaction.
And she tried, she really tried.
But as much as she tried to fight the tears back, they came anyway, hot and bitter as they slid down her cheeks.
She could feel her strength and resolve slipping away with every single tear. Why me?! She had done nothing to them. She trusted them. She trusted him!
Why would he do this to her?!
She stared at him, her anger and hatred blazing through her gaze. She wanted to kill this person. To give him back all he had inflicted on her.
Matteo's eyes narrowed as he stepped closer, his heated breath brushing over her skin. He let the whip that had been in his hand fall to the ground and reached out, brushing a strand of hair from her face.
The tenderness of his actions made her stomach flip.
"You know," he began, murmuring, "I could let you go, Lucia. I could end everything right now. All you have to do is beg."
She shook her head, clenching her teeth to keep herself from crying out.
"Beg me, Lucia, and everything could end."
His voice was soft, hypnotic, and tempting. It seemed as if all her problems would dissolve if she just begged him.
But she knew he was lying. He needed her blood; they all did. And they'd do anything to keep her locked up.
And she wouldn't beg. Not for him. Not for anyone.
"Suit yourself," he shrugged carelessly after seeing her refusal, as if it didn't matter to him either way.
Then, with one quick motion, he unhooked the chains that bound her, and she fell down as fragile as a shattered doll.
She tried to push herself up, but her arms wouldn't obey her. The cuts they had made on her skin were all healed, but she could still feel the pain as if it was still fresh. But she couldn't let him win. She had to find a way out of here, even if it killed her.
Matteo crouched down, his hands wrapping around her throat as he squeezed. "Look at you. So weak and fragile," he sneered. "But still so beautiful."
His hand moved down, fingers trailing over her bruised skin. She recoiled, terror and disgust washing over her as she realized what was coming next. Her face paled in fright instantly.
It didn't need to be said out loud. She could see it in his eyes, the way his grip tightened and his breaths quickened.
"No..." The words escaped from her lips before she could help it, hoarse and weak. "Get... get away from me..."
Her words seemed to amuse him as he moved his other hand to caress her bare body roughly.
"Is that fear I hear?" he taunted with a chuckle. "You've always been so arrogant, Lucia. Always looking down on others even if you're a lowly hybrid. Finally scared now, aren't you?"
She tried her best to fight him off, but she was too weak. She snapped against his chest, ignoring how painful moving felt. Tears clouded her vision as she felt his hands roam over her, rough and possessive.
"Please.... stop.... Matteo...." she whimpered, but he ignored her pleas a hand holding her down as he fumbled with his belt.
She could feel something in her snap in that moment. No. It couldn't happen like this. She couldn't let him take the one thing she had left from her. Not like this.
A wave of hatred and despair crashed over her, drowning out the pain she felt. Through her haze, her fingers brushed against something cold and hard. A blade.
The same blade that had been used to cut her again and again and again.
She gripped it, the blade digging into her palms and cutting her. She didn't know how it got there, and she did not care. All that mattered was that it was in her hands.
With the last of her strength she could summon, she gripped it firmly and drove it into her side. Blood poured out from the wound, warm and sticky and she gasped the world around her spinning.
Matteo's eyes grew wide with shock as he realized what she had done. And before he could come back to his senses, she took it out and drove it in again, deeper than the first time.
The pain of the blade piercing her flesh was nothing compared to what he was doing.
He suddenly reacted and tried to pull the blade away from her, but she held it tightly with all the strength she could summon.
"Lucia! Stop!"
She could feel her life slowly slipping away, her heartbeat slowing and the pain dulled into a distant throb.
With her last breath, she stared into the familiar blue eyes and whispered. "I'll see you in hell... Matteo."
The darkness closed in on her, the pain fading into a distant feeling and all she could think about was the hatred burning deep inside of her. Her life, her dignity, her soul— they had taken them away from her.
But she would return. She'd find a way back.
And when she did, they would all pay.
CHAPTER 002"Lucia, he's your mate.....""... Marry me, Lucia...""Stay away from him.... I'll be jealous....""Dante, Matteo is my mate. He asked me to marry him....""....Why won't you come to the ceremony....""... what are you doing?!... where are you taking me?!.... help!...""... All you have to do is just beg...""Stop, let me go! Please.... stop....""...I'll see you in hell, Matteo...""Ahhh!"Lucia opened her eyes, jolting awake as she sat up. The first thing she felt was the sharp sting in her side, the very spot where she had driven the knife. For a moment, she was confused. She wasn’t dead? Her hand flew to the wound, expecting to find the sticky warmth of blood. But there was nothing. Her fingers brushed over smooth, unbroken skin. She bolted upright, her breath catching in her throat. How was this possible? Why wasn’t she dead? What happened? Her heart pounded as she tried to make sense of what was happening. She remembered the blade, the pain, the darkness closing in...
CHAPTER 003 "Have you seen her?""No. Its like she disappeared...."Lucia crouched in a corner, her back pressed against a rotting wodden wall as she tried to mask her scent. She had learnt this trying to hide from Matteo, but he'd eventually found her and out her in a bare room with chains so she couldn't hide away. Now, it had come to use.Two days. She had hidden here for two days, barely daring to breathe. Her so called ‘family’ were quite eager to find her. The Roselli guards had searched the area desperately trying to find her, as if she was some thief who had stolen a treasure. And the treasure, was her own blood. It was amusing how she had thought his care and protection had been because he loved her as a daughter. She knew now, the only reason he adopted her was to keep her blood for himself and profit from her.But that wasn't going to happen anymore.Soon, the area became quiet. She waited for the scents of the guards to fully disperse before standing up, her joints creaki
CHAPTER 004Dante stared at the figure sprawled on the forest floor, his sharp amber eyes studying them calmly. Before this person had fainted, they'd called his name. Did they recognize him or was it just a coincidence? He tried to look at them to see if he recognised this person. But with the amount of dirt staining their face, he couldn't really see any features. And, his question couldn't be answered now since they were unconscious. He glanced at Fenrir, his oversized wolf-dog who was now sitting at his side, curiously staring at the person on the floor, with no sense of guilt after making them unconscious.Dante sighed, scratching behind his ears. "Scaring people wasn't part of the job, bud."The dog let out a small while, his massive tail thumping against the floor. His gaze drifted back to the unconscious person. Their scent was weak, almost human, but not quite. A werewolf. He was sure of it, but the fragility of their wolf was quite surprising. Even half wolves didn't have s
CHAPTER 005 “Come on, Lucia. You ’re moving like a damn snail.”Lucia quickly ducked as a pinch nearly severed her head off. It did reach her shoulder though, and she winced in pain, pushed back a couple steps."Don't get cocky. I'm just warming up" She gasped as she ducked under another punch.Rhea stood in front of her, attacking without a single pause. But she still and the time to brush her dark hair to the side with a smirk."You’ve been warning up for two years, sweetie. Time to get a punch in."Lucia moved back, circling around as she thought about the best way to land a hit on Rhea. Then she saw a loophole, Boom!— she landed a punch on her jaw.Rhea groaned and then kicked her lips with an excited smile. "You hit me!""Of course I did. You've been hitting me!" Lucia protested. Before she finished her words, Rhea attacked again, this time with more force than before. Lucia found herself ducking and dodging her blows. In the entire pack, Rhea was the best at close combat. She co
CHAPTER 006Lucia shut up her coat tighter around her shoulders as the wind bit at her cheeks. There she was, staring at the busting square edge, a building that seemed imposing as if it got erected here. This was not what she had anticipated from Nero Orsini. It was not exactly a city of neon signs. There were no obvious signs of mafia doings. It was instead a simple, well-guarded warehouse, its tall gates shading the men who stood by, hands on their weapons.Lucia took a deep breath. This was it. There was no turning back now. Her hands trembled a little, but she jammed them deep into her pockets, wrapping large fingers half about the small dagger kept hidden. This precaution was taken just in case. Her boots crunching with the gravel, she went up to the gate. The guards noticed her, and one nudged the other. Men turned to her, their expressions unreadable. The random man grumbled, 'Who are you?'She hadn’t said it, had it? Her heart pounded in her chest, afraid she might have made a
CHAPTER 007The room pulsed with quiet efficiency; men and women in tailored suits, each with a reason to be there and clearly on purpose, circulated in and out of Nero’s expansive office. Near the window, Lucia stared at the streets below them. Her thoughts, like the city itself, never slumbered. She never made a decision or a move that didn't bring her closer to her revenge.“Lost in thought, Lucia?” Nero's voice broke through her reverie. Seated behind his desk, his sharp gray eyes studied her like a puzzle he hadn't yet solved. She forced a faint smile and turned. “Always. It keeps me focused.”Nero smiled and waved her in closer. ‘You’ve done good; you’ve earned trust and respect perhaps faster than I had thought.’ What’s on your mind today?”Her fingers brushed the hem of her jacket, and she hesitated. This was her chance. She couldn’t falter now. Her voice was steady but firm, but she began, ‘I’m going to need a favor.’Nero arched a brow. “A favor? That’s a bold request. Go on
CHAPTER 008Sophia paced back and forth in the dim room, her heels creating an unhappy snick on the polished floor. Her fingers clenched and unclenched at her sides, and every now and then she glanced toward the door as if she could allow Lucia to appear. It was hard having so much jealousy burning inside of her. It was all becoming too much.Lucia was everywhere. She had wormed her way into the Roselli family, into Matteo’s life, and now she was beginning to worm her way past all of Sophia’s defenses. The closeness between Lucia and Matteo wasn't just what bothered her. No, it was more profound than that; it gnawed at her whenever she saw them together. Lucia was too perfect, too calm, too composed. She hated Sophia being jealous; it made her feel small, smaller, and insignificant. She had to do something. She was going to have to stop Lucia before it was too late. The plan was simple. Expose her as a fraud. She will expose herself as merely exploiting Matteo to ascend the family hie
CHAPTER 009Lucia thought very sharply and focused as she moved quietly through the shadows of the mansion. The Roselli family never failed to brag themselves up; they had built their power on lies and manipulation. But that was about to change. She calculated every move, every step to bring them down. She had spent months learning their weaknesses, learning their lives. But now that her plan came together, she nearly tasted victory.Outside it was still, silent, the air heavy from the tension that held the world in a constant void. Her mind was racing in the hallway, and she paused for a moment. Mr. Her next target was Roselli, the leading figure in this cancer case. He had harmed someone while she was protecting him, and he had crossed a boundary he would never regret. The pulse of power in her chest she could feel. This was all the pain... the betrayals... the broken pieces of her past leading her to. This was her opportunity to make them all pay.The plan was simple: It would targ
Chapter 085As the wind howled through the mountain pass's narrow path, Dante's hands clenched around the hilt of his sword. His breath came in irregular, shallow gasps, and every step felt like a thousand burdens.Even though his past had always hovered over him like a shadow, he was resolved to put it behind him today. He would prove himself today, if not to the entire world, then at least to Lucia, who was the most important person. The stakes were high, but the mission was straightforward. In order to prevent Matteo from unleashing his evil magic, he and the team needed to recover an old artifact.Dante had offered to lead the risky portion, but Lucia took the lead.He could feel the pull of his former life, the darkness that had long defined him, the farther they ventured into enemy territory. Now, however, he was fighting for redemption. He saw a vision of Lucia's face, her eyes full of something other than determination. It might have been hope. Perhaps it was trust. He hadn't
Chapter 084Alessandro sat in the dimly lit chamber, a soft fire flickering in the hearth before him.The room was quiet, save for the occasional rustle of the papers scattered across the wooden table in front of him.The ancient walls of the mansion held an eerie still as if the very air was holding its breath, waiting for what was to come next. The task ahead weighed heavily on him, yet he had never shied away from responsibility.Tonight, he was not just Alessandro Stellini. He was a strategist, a leader, a man whose alliances would determine the fate of their world.Lucia had entrusted him with this mission to unite the forces that would stand against the chaos Matteo and Kalyndria sought to unleash. And Alessandro, despite his doubts, would not fail her.The door to the chamber creaked open, and he looked up to see Isabella step inside, her eyes sharp and focused, as always. Her presence was a comfort in this tense moment, a reminder that he was not alone in this fight."Have yo
Chapter 083Gasping for breath, Lucia stood at the base of the Italian Alps, staring up at the jagged rocks that hid the ancient temple she sought. The fresh aroma of the snow-capped mountains blended with the scent of pine trees in the crisp air.It was not only the physical weight of the Heart of Lunaria that was heavy in her hands. It was the weight of accountability and the knowledge that her decisions could either preserve or ruin everything she held dear. She had reached this point in her journey where she would confront the unknown and enter the center of power beyond her comprehension. The knowledge of Eldrin's increasing power weighed heavily on her heart, and the road ahead was dangerous. Though doubt gnawed at her insides, she had no choice but to move forward."Are you sure about this?" Nero's voice broke the silence, and he was always there by her side.Lucia looked at him, his expression a mix of resolve and worry. She could see the fear in his eyes the fear of failing,
Chapter 082Isabella's fingers hovered over the ancient book, its pages smudged but still readable from years of turning. Her heart pounded as she turned the pages of the yellowed parchment, the words drawing her further into the mystery of Eldrin, the mighty creature who had suddenly materialized. She had been having visions that were getting more precise and distinct. But they were still illogical. Similar to a puzzle that needs to be assembled, the pieces were dispersed. She was trying to make connections as her mind raced. Not only was Eldrin a strong being, but he was also something much older, with ties to the Blood Moon.Prophecies from antiquity that mentioned equilibrium and forces that could either tip the scales in favor of life or destruction had never been clear. However, this was something different. Eldrin was not a normal person. He was the final member of a lineage that had been developed since the beginning of time in order to preserve the harmony between chaos and o
Chapter 081Matteo Vulpin stood in the dimly lit room, his back straight and his fingers resting lightly on the cold wood of the table. The walls around him felt like they were closing in, the air heavy with the tension he had built over months.Usually, he played a slow, calculated game, but tonight, something felt different. Everything was about to shift, and he knew it.His next move would shock Lucia's coalition, leaving them vulnerable and exposed. The plan was set in motion a long time ago. Lucia meticulously crafted every detail, perfectly timing each betrayal and assassination. One by one, Lucia's once-strong alliances began to crumble. He couldn’t help but feel a slight satisfaction as he imagined the fear spreading through her ranks.Matteo’s gaze flickered toward the map on the table before him.He was not only interested in the supernatural world but also in the lucrative mafia world.Lucia had trusted too many people too many people who had already chosen their sides. He k
Chapter 080Sophia’s eyes flickered open, her vision blurry at first, the darkness around her swarming with fragmented images. Her mind felt like a jigsaw puzzle, the pieces scattered, waiting to be put together. She could feel the pulse of her heart, slow and heavy, as though something had been stolen from her, something vital that she could not yet recall.A voice whispered in the back of her mind, sharp and full of malice. “You’re not whole yet. Not yet.”She blinked, trying to make sense of the words, but they faded into the shadows as she pushed herself to sit up. The air smelled thick with magic, familiar yet foreign, as if the very fabric of reality had been altered. She could feel the power pulsing through her veins, her body still not entirely her own but stronger than she remembered. The ritual had worked. But it had been incomplete.Sophia’s hand pressed against her forehead, the memories flooding back in flashes images of betrayal, anger, and a thirst for revenge. She reme
Chapter 079The night in Corciano had always been peaceful. The cool breeze swept through the streets, carrying the scent of fresh flowers from the nearby gardens. It was the kind of place where the supernatural lived quietly among the humans, each of them keeping their heads down, knowing their place in the world. There was a calm here, a sort of stillness that settled in the heart. But all of that would change in an instant.A crackle of energy split the air, followed by a low rumble like thunder. The ground trembled beneath their feet, and the night sky, which had been clear and serene, darkened as if something unseen was blocking out the stars.A sudden, sharp gust of wind blew through the trees, rattling the branches and sending leaves spiraling into the air. Then, the figure appeared.Eldrin stood at the center of the town square, his presence undeniable. He was tall, his long hair flowing like dark silk around his shoulders. His eyes, glowing faintly with a light that seemed bo
Chapter 078As Nero observed the mayhem all around him, his heart raced. As Matteo's army swept through the room, the Heart of Lunaria flickered feebly on the table, its light fading. The dark magic swirled in the air, thick and suffocating, and he could feel its oppressive weight.Lucia was only a few paces away, and her eyes reflected his desperation. She had to finish the ceremony, She had to complete what she had begun. However, Matteo's troops had already arrived, and they would not give up until they had Lucia and the Heart."No!" With a roar, Nero moved ahead of her, his hands automatically grabbing hold of his divine power. "Remain back!"The soldiers paused, obviously not anticipating opposition. However, the sinister energy that pervaded the space propelled them forward, and the first blow came like a wave, strong and relentless.Nero barely flinched, even though he felt the impact of their spell. This time, though, something was different. He was accustomed to the weight of
Chapter 077With the Heart of Lunaria in her hands and glowing with a spooky, ethereal light, Lucia stood in the middle of the darkened room.entire being trembled with energy as she felt its power pulsing through her. Its emotional and physical burden was too much to bear. The moment had arrived to decide. She was aware that there would be a sacrifice involved in using the Heart. What sort of sacrifice, though? She wasn't certain that she was prepared to make that decision. She was startled out of her reverie by a gentle knock on the door. Nero was standing there when she turned around, his expression solemn, but his eyes softened as they met hers.He walked into the room and shut the door without saying anything.Nero said softly, "Lucia," in a worried voice. "I understand your thoughts. You've spent hours gazing at the heart. You must make a choice. The mention of the decision made Lucia's chest tighten. She was unwilling to make it. The cost was the last thing she wanted to consi
