Meeting Royalty

Ryker POV

I was disgusted looking around the table at this so called royal family. The only redeemable person here was the princess, but she was already too far gone. She was nothing but a timid little girl with no idea what power she held. She would submit to any monster that commanded her and that could not be the future of the wolves.

They needed a strong leader that was willing to sacrifice anyone or anything for our kind. Elena was not that, yet I knew a part of me wished she were. I was definitely attracted to her and my wolf wanted to claim her.

Despite my urges I knew some temptress was no reason to condemn an entire species. I wouldn't enjoy it, but I would kill her if the time came. No tainted bloodline could remain in power.

Luna Theresa seemed bored at the attention her daughter was receiving. She quickly turned the conversation to upcoming events. Boasting how grand they make everything from the full moon to her daughter's 18th celebration. She didn't seem to care about the milestone or personal meaning of anything, just the party and show of power and wealth.

I was getting frustrated, but I needed to keep up appearances. Speaking against the way they acted or how they treated the princess would destroy everything my packs have worked so hard for. I needed a distraction and opened my mind-linked to my Beta.

'Chris, you will not believe where I am right now.'

'If it involves any parts of a woman I don't want to know. Too much information, brother' Chris answered with amusement in his tone.

Chris is my younger brother and when I took over the Night Shade pack at seventeen, I named Chris my Beta, even though he was only fifteen at the time. It was unconventional, but since my quick thinking and overpowering strength saved the pack from a Rogue attack, whom killed our current Alpha's family, the pack did as I ordered.

'That would be you, not me. I don't ramble like a schoolgirl over my conquest. Anyways, I'm sitting in the Royal pack house with the trio of families. They are so cocky that they have the entire Trio's bloodline in one room.'

'Fucking rip all their heads off and be done with it. We can finally take back what's ours. You want me to meet you there.'

'No idiot. I can't take three current Alpha's let alone all their offspring, servants, and guards, but I'm much closer than we thought we would be.'

'Do you see the future Queen? I hear she was blessed by the moon goddess herself and I mean blessed in all the most delicious ways. I would love to taste that kind of beauty before we remove it from existence.'

'She's a child Chris. Her death will be quick.'

'She'll be an adult wolf next week and I'm sure she has suitors lining up at her bedroom door. Just saying I could let her go out in a more pleasurable way, that's all'

'You need help.'

'Whatever. I won't feel guilty for killing any of them. They killed thousands and now our entire species is on the brink of extinction. They deserve their death and obviously the moon goddess agrees because here we are.'

'That might be true, but I will never enjoy killing innocents. It is necessary, but we don't have to revel in. I'll meet up with you later, we need to expedite our plans.'

I cut off the mind-link. I wanted a distraction, instead I just got more infuriated. I knew I would probably have to kill the girl, but the thought of anyone touching her sent fire through my blood. I was attracted to her, but for some reason my wolf felt an urge to protect her too.

There was a sexual pull to her, both from her beauty and her overpowering aura. The need to protect her was something else. I thought it was because she was a rare wolf, but I had to be mistaken. She couldn't be a silver wolf and not shift. She shouldn't even be able to call her wolf as everyone seemed to believe she didn't have one.

I was so lost in my own thoughts I didn't realize everyone was finishing their food. I took a few more bits and thanked the Luna for her hospitality and delicious food.

Tyler came to Elena to summon her outside even though she hadn't finished her plate yet. She sweetly nodded and followed him like a good little girl. It made me sick at what a waste she was.

The future Queen was nothing but a scared little pup. She would come into power only to be ruled by the men in her life. The bloodshed and tyranny her reign would bring made my stomach twist in knots. I had to end the family trio and give freedom back to all wolves.

After my kind was nearly wiped out the moon goddess allowed us one final chance. The werewolves needed to be fair to all or she would bring them back home. Going back home meant extinction or abandonment. Like what happen to the Fae who once roamed the earth. They were vile creatures only interested in their own pleasures.

The Fae did take care of their own, but thought themselves to be a higher species. They used humans mostly as pawns to appease their boredom, werewolves were slave soldiers, witches did their bidding to manipulate lower magic's, they even created Vampires just to knock werewolves off their pedestals of the strongest species.

Wolves could be animals, running on pure instinct, but we were also part human. We were family oriented at the core and protectors of all. I couldn't let all of my kind be condemn just because a few took advantage of their power. The tyranny the Red Moon pack has ruled with needed to end.

I watched Elena leave with her boyfriend and had a longing in my heart to rip his arm off that sat on her waist. I needed to speak to my witch to repel the Luna's aura or I was going to totally fuck myself and my kind.

This was ridiculous I couldn't get my wolf under control. He was a strong Alpha that wanted to mate with the strongest females. I never once consider taking a mate until I saw her. Something about her excited my midnight wolf and made him itch to have her under his control. I had a feeling his desire for her wasn't purely sexual either.

I tried blocking out his urges to dominate, but Elena's presence was making it hard. I lowly growled then quickly stood to excuse myself. I needed to go home and remind myself, my wolf, of our true agenda here. It wasn't some irrational teenager for fuck's sakes.
