"Thank you, Vera," I appreciated. "So what is the name of the company?" I asked."Here," Vera said and pulled some documents out of her bag which she handed over to me."La Mejor Constructions," I read the name of the company."La Mejor is Spanish for 'The best', right," I asked to confirm and I saw
Olivia's POV"Thank you," I appreciated. "Can I ask a question?" I said."Sure, please go ahead," he said."Please don't take this the wrong way. I am just curious about why the interview did not happen?" I asked calmly trying to understand if it was the case that my CV was too good or someone worked this out for me."Well, the CEO who sits at the head office, saw your CV and asked us to hire you," Mr Wilson said with a smile."Your CV was impressive, I must say and everything you stated checked out," he added and I smiled."You will be working directly with the CEO," Mr Wilson said and I raised an eyebrow."What happened to the manager?" I asked before I could stop myself."The manager resigned weeks ago for personal reasons. You are the new manager," he announced to my surprise. "Manager?" I repeated."Yes," Mr Wilson acknowledged. "Here is your contract, you can go through it and sign but first you must sign this one-page agreement contract," Mr Wilson said and gave me a single pa
"Alex," I whispered his name on my lips as I stared at him shocked. I was wondering how it was that he was sitting in the CEO's seat. The only question running through my head was, did Vera know about this, but I quickly dismissed the thought knowing there was no one Vera would arrange this for me if she knew Alex was the CEO."Olivia, can I have the signed contract?" His voice cut through my thoughts snapping me out of my daze."What do you want from me?" I asked staring at him angrily."What do you mean by your question? You applied for a job and you got it," he replied with a frown. He was right. I applied for this job. It suddenly crossed my mind. I could quit. I have received too many warnings about him to ignore. "Fine. I don't want the job again," I said and turned to walk away."You can't quit, Oliva," I heard him say and I froze in my steps. "Do you remember the agreement contract you signed?" I heard him ask and I turned around to stare at him."You are bonded by this contr
Olivia's POVI lay on my bed in deep thought. I know nothing about this Alex guy aside from the warnings from Vera and the fact that my family dislikes him. This is my second encounter with him and I feel Vera is right about the person he is. I turned to face the other side of my bed still lost in thought. What would be my true reaction towards him if Vera had not said anything about him being a scumbag? How would I look at him if I didn't know I was once married to him? All these thoughts ran through my head and I was not sure how to feel about them all. Is he a scumbag or I feel that way because Vera said he was?My mind drifted off to the party scene. Of course, he didn't act like a gentleman at all but come to think of it, he was there for me, his wife. I thought and frowned. Ex-wife, I repeated and turned again on my bed. I recalled his face and features."He is a nice handsome guy. Everything about his appearance fits the image of the kind of mind I will want," I thought and m
Olivia's POVI stood in front of the door for a while and left for the cafeteria. I didn't have an office yet as my onboarding was not done. I ordered a cup of tea and a sandwich. "How much?" I asked the lady at the counter. "You don't have a company card?" the lady asked and I shook my head in a no."No, you can only make a purchase here with the company card," the lady said to me and I blinked twice."I am new," I said."Kindly see the HR for that," the lady informed me and I just nodded.I walked to the HR office to get the card. I knocked gently and entered upon invitation. I greeted the lady in the seat and introduced myself."Your card will be ready tomorrow. In the meantime, Mr Wilson will attend to you," the HR manager said to me."Thanks," I said."Can I ask a question?" I said."Sure," replied the HR manager."Did you also sign an agreement contract in addition to the employee contract and what is the agreement contract about?" I asked trying to confirm what Alex had said t
Olivia's POVI went with Mr Wilson to complete the onboarding process. All through the session, I was hungry and also thinking about some of the things Maria had said to me. It made me curious about what happened while I was with Alex."Ms Hudson, are you concentrating?" Mr Wilson's voice cuts through my thoughts."Yes," I replied."This is very important and you should know it," Mr Wilson said."Yes," I replied. We continued and I tried to give it my full attention but I realized I was too hungry to concentrate on what he was saying. Finally, my stomach gave me out making a growling sound. I immediately felt embarrassed and lowered my head."Have you eaten?" Mr Wilson asked."No please," I replied shyly placing my hand on my stomach which appeared to have gone quiet after growling so loud."My apologies," Mr Wilson said and quickly exited the office. He returned a few minutes later with some food whose aroma filled the air immediately even when it was still in a paper box."Let's cont
Two servants came out of the apartment heading for the parked car. Dave removed my bag from the car truck and the servants quickly carried them inside after welcoming me. I stood in a daze scanning the beautiful compound. The compound was big and nicely decorated with flowers. It had a small porch with a swing. I walked past it and entered the apartment. The living room was very big and at the end was a dining area and the kitchen. The was a spiral staircase which descended into the living room. The kitchen and dining space was below the bedroom space. I climbed the staircase and found the bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms shared a wall and the last one was in a corner of the room which had a window at the end of the hallway. I checked the bedrooms and they all had a kingsize bed, an in-built walk-in closet, a jacuzzi bath and a shower space. I came downstairs and walked onto the balcony, it was there that I realised the building appeared to be a two-storey building. Standing at the rail
"Shall the company get you the services of a stylist too?" Alex asked."No need," I said and went upstairs. I chose the bedroom in the corner which had the window at the corner after the entry door. I looked outside through the window on my left briefly before pushing the door open. I couldn't find my bag sitting anywhere. I slid open the walk-in closet and my eyes popped out of their socket. I wondered where all the clothes and shoes were coming from. I checked the room earlier when my bag was brought in and it was empty. There was a small chair where I could sit and put on my shoes. What looks like a counter sits in the middle. It had mini drawers. I pulled one open and I gasped. They were filled with jewellery of all designs. They looked very expensive. Some were in boxes others were just hooked up to holders. I raised my head and realize all the clothes were in labelled sections. All the clothes I brought had been hung in a section labelled casual. I frowned but still picked a dr
Olivia's POVWhile in the hospital, Alexander never came to see me. It felt like old times except this time, I knew Alexander was on admission too. The day I was discharged I visited his ward and he was asleep. I never entered his ward. I watched him through the glass. He looked different now but I
Olivia's POVI opened my eyes and my mind went to the pain I felt in my hand which quickly travelled to my back and my whole body was soon consumed with pain. The pain was gone and I felt better. I knew I was in the hospital, I turned my head slightly and met the gaze of my brother Austin."What hap
Alexander's POVThree days after my mum's arrest, myself, Austin and my lawyer sat in my living room getting ready for the court hearing. My housekeeper walked in."Sir, your sister is here," she announced."I will be back," I said to them and excused myself.I followed the housekeeper to the door a
"Yes ma'am," the lady at the reception said and I pulled my bag towards the exit.Outside, I quickly got a cab and headed for the airport. After half an hour's drive, I arrived at the airport. The news about Leo was still playing on my mind."We are here ma'am," the driver said snapping back to real
Matilda's POVI was still at the motel. I had requested a room under a different name and paid cash just to make sure, my name is not in the motel's management system. I had come in with a disguise too. I changed my eye colour and my hair. I also gave myself a different look by using tape to pull th
"Leo loves Olivia. I know," I said. "So why will he do something that would make Olivia hate him?" I asked."That is an important question. We need to find an answer, if not this could be used to disregard the evidence," Austin said and I shifted my gaze to my team member who had still standing in h
Alexander's POVI opened the file and went through the information printed out in black and white while lying on my bed. I was shocked by what I found out. I never knew Lydia and Olivia shared the same father. I knew Lydia was my half-sister because we share a mother but never in my wildest dream di
Leo's POVI thought I was finally going to have Olivia to myself. With the way everything was going, I knew convincing Olivia to love me was no longer something I could do. She was just not ready to love me for whatever reason. I have done everything I could to convince her I am the man for her but
Well, we didn't have to stay in that condition for long, the police entered using the front door. Leo grabbed Olivia as a shield, trying to escape but Olivia's brother came from behind him and hit him in the head. Leo was done but a gun went off. Not sure whose but I saw the guard standing behind Ol
