Chapter 12 some facts

Shekhawat mansion ., Shimla.

When they arrived at the shekhawat mansion, the Khurrana family were awestruck by the view of the shekhawat mansion

When they entered inside they all got surprised by the interiors of the mansion which is having a touch of royalty in it.

Every piece of furniture showpiece, chandelier even the carpet and curtain were looking very exquisite. But what impresses them more is the hospitality and down to earth attitude of the family members. Ashish was feeling ease in his heart as the Shekhawat family welcomed Adhya as she is already their family member.

Both the families were sitting at the dining table for lunch. The servants enter with trays of different dishes. On the left side, the whole Khurana family was settled and on the right side the shekhawats.

On the Khurana's side all the lunch was served but on the Shekhawat's side was all fast recipes, like sabudana vada,sabudana khichdi, sighade ka halwa and more.

Devrat Khurrana were surprised to notice this .looking at their surprised faces.

Abeer stated, '" today is maha Shivratri uncle so we all are fasting but please make yourself comfortable and enjoy the lunch".

Rudra who was sitting in the head chair signalled the househelp to start serving, house help followed his orders in a swift motion.

Devrat who was looking at the mouth-watering dishes of fasting asked a little hesitantly.

" If you people don't mind I will like to taste these fasting dishes too, actually it has been a long that I tasted them."

" Dadu" " dad ' adhya and Ashish both tried to stop devrat.

Gauri smiled at this," sure why not please," she signalled the house help to serve them the fasting dishes too.

In last all of them ended up eating the fast dishes only, drishti was already impressed by their house, the lavish decor which looked royal, and the type of lifestyle they live. Drishti got more and more eager for this alliance.

After lunch, they all got settled in the living room. And the main discussion started.

Adhya was damn scared of this situation, she had imagined this scene hundred times in her mind before. But she never thought rudra's appearance to be so dominating.

The silence of the living room was making the Khurrana family more nervous. They all are waiting for the Shekhawat to give their opinion about this marriage.

Ashish, Devrat and drishti were now sure about Gauri's acceptance but rudra was still a puzzle for them.

Rudra's eyes were keenly observing the faces of the Khurrana family, he knows how much they are eager to know his decision. But he already decided to clear some points with them. Before he could start the conversation,gauri played her card.

" See mr khurrana we only want our abeer's happiness. we trust abeer's choice too and if his happiness is in marrying your daughter then we dont have any problem with it. As we also like your daughter " gauri Shekhawat announced to the couple.

Rudra appreciates her mother's cleverness and instinct but the game is just started so now it's rudra's turn to play his card.

"Mr Khurrana I want to clear some things before we go further with this alliance. As you can see how much my family is eager to have a daughter in law. (Rudra taunted gauri's behaviour .). But before coming to a decision I want to clarify some facts about my family. I hope you don't mind that, Right "

" Yes mr Shekhawat, please go ahead "

" I always wanted an Indian, Rajput well-cultured girl for my Abeer. You know a girl who will take care of our family traditions, respects elders and believe in relationships ."

Tears brimmed in adhya's eyes, she was feeling offended by the way rudra was talking about his expectations. As she is a Punjabi girl, born and brought up in London and above all she doesn't know much about Indian culture and traditions.

Garima and gauri felt bad for adhya but nobody can stop rudra now, the things were going out of their hands.

Rudra noticed his brother's pale face and Adhya's gloomy face. He knows very well that what he is doing is good for all of them ., he doesn't want any misconceptions about shekhawats.

"As Abeer has already found a daughter in law for our family. So . ( After a minute pause). So we will like to go with his choice only.

As I only want my brother's happiness. I kept my expectations below my family's happiness ".The khurrana were still confused

"Yes, you got it right. I am asking for your daughter's hand for my brother Abeer Singh shekawat.

As soon as rudra complete his statement,garima and gauri hugged each other in joy. Garima looked at rudra with a smiling face rudra blinked his eyes in assurance to his Chachi.

" I am glad that you accepted this proposal but I want to clear something about my family too ."

Rudra nodded Ashish to go ahead.

" See mr Shekhawat, I know that we are not as rich as your family is. But still, if you people have any demand for this marriage, I will try my best too .....

" But still you are very rich Mr Khurrana, you have something which even we don't have,"gauri stated confidently.

" Ji, sorry I didn't know what you are talking about "Ashish got nervous.

"We are talking about adhya, I think you didn't hear rudra properly, we are the ones who are asking for your daughter's hand. So who is more rich tell me?"

Ashish smiled in tears. drishti was feeling relaxed as she doesn't have to worry about dowry anymore.

"Mr khurrana I also wanted to clear some more facts to you. As you know that till now abeer is handling the London branch and settled in London, but we have decided that it's the right time that Chachi and abeer should be settled with us in India after abeer's marriage. So I hope you don't have any problem with that. And as the matter of adhya's job is concerned so I leave this decision on the couple only whatever they decide, we have no problem with their decision " rudra stated in a decisive tone.

Drishti wanted to say something but Ashish beat her and stated

" Mr Shekhawat if you don't mind I will answer this tomorrow after discussing this with my family and having adhya's opinion. As you can understand shifting to another country will be a big decision for Adhya"

"Yes it's okay, I can understand "

The khurrana family then took their leave and left for their hotel.

Adhya was not liking how rudra decided on abeer's plans. Abeer never talked about this with adhya, it was like news to her that they had to settle in India. She was more furious about abeer's silence why he did not oppose this ?.

She decided to talk to abeer .she called him but he doesn't pick up her call instead he messaged her that he is in some meeting so he will call back.

After taking some rest all the khurrana were sitting in the deviant's suite for evening tea. Ashish started the topic

"So adhya what do you think about rudra's decision, I mean are you ready to settle in India after marriage? "

"I dont know dad, I mean abeer did not talk about this before"

"See beta they are nice people and they have their reasons too as rudra is not going to marry, so they also expect the only daughter in law to live with them, nothing is wrong with that "Ashish tried to put their point of view.

"But dad I have a different type of brought up my lifestyle is different from there, see I am not able to handle this Indian wear for some hours only so how can I wear this all my life ?."

Drishti got scared now listening to adhya's statement .devrat started explaining to adhya

"See beta, you should first talk to abeer about this let's see what he has to say about that ."

Adhya nodded in agreement.

Sometime later abeer informed her that he is coming to pick her up for a dinner date

Adhya deliberately wears a western outfit for dinner as she wants to confirm her doubts about abeer.

Abeer reached the hotel to pick up adhya for dinner, after taking permission from elders, they left for dinner.

Abeer booked a table in a hotel that doesn't belong to them for privacy reasons.

Abeer ordered drinks as usual.

Adhya was getting nervous about abeer's reaction

" Abeer I want to discuss something you didn't tell me before about this, I mean shifting to India after marriage ."

'So you are having second thoughts about this "abeer confronted her

" No, but why did you never tell me"

' Because I don't know about this earlier bhai told me this two days back, and I dont think something is wrong with this, as bhai also want someone to help him in handling business He wants me take over the business ., tell me what is your problem in this ?."

. " So What about my job my career, you want me to be a housewife and raise your kids " Adhya lost her calm and spoke with anger.

" No !.. hell no! who told you that you can't work here, did I stop you? "Abeer was on the edge of snapping on her.

" But your bhai told .... " Adhya tried to enquire.

"What haa!, he told us that we will decide this " Abeer shouted in anger as he cannot want to hear anything against his bhai. Adhya was scared to see this side of Abeer.

Abeer noticed the fear in her eyes, he didn't want to scare her, but .,..anyhow he took deep breaths to calm his anger and then started speaking in a normal tone.

"See adhya I know it will be not easy for you to shift here but I love you and I love my family too. I have some responsibility towards them also. Dont make it difficult for me ."

"Look abeer I am not comfortable in this kind of dress, I cannot change my lifestyle for this marriage. I am confused scared what should I do abeer? " Adhya was on the verge of crying.

Abeer hold her hand and stated lovingly, ' Adhya did I tell you that you have to wear only Indian clothes after marriage "

"No, but that time we were going to settle in London."

"I promise you, you can wear whatever you want,  but on special occasions like festivals and pujas you have to wear Indian is that ok for you or you cannot manage to do only this much for our love ."

"But today you wanted me to wear Indian attire for meeting your brother, "adhya asked

" Because it was a puja, I thought that it will look nice. See my family never oppose these things. My family is not as bad or orthodox as you think ."

"Now let's have dinner okay "

"hmmm " Adhya got some relief after speaking about her doubts.

Then the dinner was served while abeer tried to cheer her mood up.

Later when adhya reached the hotel suite she found her family was waiting for her in her hotel room.

Adhya hugged her dadu and said, " you were so right dadu, abeer had cleared my all doubts and now I am ready to settle here in Shimla after marriage ."

This bring to smile on the faces of family members and drishti got relieved after listening to adhya.

Devrat and Ashish already decided to talk to the shekhawat family about their engagement.

Abeer also reached his mansion with a smiling face, he met rudra who was returning from some other meeting in the office. Abeer hugged rudra and kissed him on his cheks

" I love you bhai, you are the best "

After the khurrana family left their place rudra understood the reason for the sadness on adhya's face and told abeer to go on a dinner date and clear adhya's doubts. Rudra already noticed adhya 's struggle with the suit in the temple, so he understood that Adhya will not prefer wearing Indian clothes. As a matter, as her career is concerned it will be decided by the couple only.

Rudra touched his cheek where he got a kiss from his" chote"( small brother )and smiled at his excitement.
