Chapter 65 Acceptance

Ava's Pov

I woke up on the couch the next morning, the light filtering through the curtains making me squint.

My head was heavy, the weight of last night’s conversation pressing down on me, but what struck me most was the dried streaks of tears on my cheeks and on the couch beneath me.

I could still feel the dampness on my skin, a physical reminder of the emotional storm that had passed through me.

But there was no time to dwell on that. Richard would be waking up soon, and I knew he'd be hungry. Without bothering to clean myself up, I headed straight for the kitchen.

Cooking always helped clear my mind. I decided on spaghetti—simple, but it was something Richard liked.

As I stood in the kitchen, boiling water and stirring the sauce, my thoughts drifted back to last night. I had said everything, laid myself bare in front of Richard, and now I had no idea how he felt about it. Was he angry?
