“I want her fired. I don’t care about the nasty things she said to me but for her to call Aunt Abigail a housewife, enjoying Uncle Tony’s hard-earned money as a stay-at-home wife, I can’t bring myself to forgive or see her working in this company ever again,” Kisha explained painfully.

Abigail was one of the women she respected so much even when she didn’t know that she would one day be getting married to her son. Seeing the seriousness and anger in her tone, Brian was upset that Linda had the guts to speak to Kisha like that but also, she involved his mother. From the chilliness emitted by the president when he was addressing Linda, even the managers were on edge in their seats.

“You said that about my mother?” Brian asked in a low growl, staring daggers at the battered face that had turned extremely ugly. “And what did you call my wife?” His voice tone was becoming dangerous, as he tried to suppress his fury.

“I…. I…. Mr.….” Linda was finding it hard to form a sentence from Brian

Brian chuckled and explained, “No. I’m just afraid. What if she had fought back or hit you with something?” Kisha was about to say that no one could defeat her in a fight but then, Brian added, “Or what if you got injured or fell? Don’t forget that you might be pregnant and not know it.” Seeing the direction of the conversation and the level of care in his voice, she was filled with remorse. Indeed, violence never pays. “I will control my temper better next time,” she vowed but Brian shook his head, extending her yard of confusion. “I’m not saying that you should not defend yourself or let people walk over you. What I mean to say is, if you want to hit someone, call me to do it for you. I will hate myself for you getting injured because I could not protect you,” he said with a sad countenance. Kisha smiled and replied, “I get it.” A month later, Brian went with Kisha to Kalen’s wedding. A day after, they were invited to dinner by their parents but it was hosted by Tony and Abigail.

  • President Tony, Let's Perfect Our Marriage   1 - Qualities of his ideal wife

Isaac adjusted Tony's bow tie for the last time, his mind heavy from the memories they shared, his heart braced with complicated emotions. "At long last, you are getting married. Now I'm going to be the only Bachelor in M city."Tony was rather neutral. Marriage to him wasn't a big deal. It was just two lovers announcing to the world their intent to live the rest of their lives together, nothing special. "Don't get emotional. We are still best friends.""But now, Ashley is going to have all your time," Isaac expressed his fear. He understood the essence of marriage that ones' partner came first but Tony the groom, had a rather weird notion."Most of it but not all," he stared at himself proudly in the mirror and said. He had the looks and the playboy vibe all over him, even on this special day."There can't be any more strip clubs," Isaac reminded him but Tony thought otherwise. He shook his head."I don't think that can be erased. You of all peopl

Three Hours Earlier Ivy arrived at the wedding venue earlier to put things together. Overindulgence and quintessence was the trademark of the Wrights family and all designers had assembled to give the event the explicit venue it deserved. Walking to and fro to ensure that everything was up to the Wrights standard, the corner of Ivy's eyes caught a familiar figure. From her model figure, poise and etiquette, it surpassed no other than Ashley, who was supposed to be with her bridesmaids. Instead, she was responding to the flirtatious advances of Richard Wood, the eldest son of the Woods family in the corridor of her hotel room. The wedding was being held in the auditorium of the Wrights luxury hotel in M City. At first, Ivy took no interest but when Richard Woods kissed her sharply on the lips, she couldn't hold it anymore. She had seen them a couple of times throughout the wedding preparations but now, she felt even more unsettled.

"Tony, the priest is waiting," Isaac tapped him for the umpteenth time before he came out of his trance. He was deflated and lost the courage to do this. One moment, he was going to marry the love of his life and the next moment, he was getting married to a stranger. It wasn't how he imagined his life with his future wife. He tried to put up a good show but the pain was simply hard to miss. He was broken. The auditorium had blown up in murmurs and not only was Abigail's palms sweaty but her stockings felt wet from the nervous heat christening her. Her body seemed to not feel the low temperature of the air-conditioner anymore. She couldn't meet the mocking eyes around her, bowing her head slightly in embarrassment. She never wanted this but she couldn't watch her father die. A burst of mocking chuckle closed up on her, sucking the only strength she had left. Not having enough energy after being malnourished for a long time, she felt weak. How could she not have known that her stepmot

Ivy spurt into a peal of nervous laughter. "What do you think is wrong with her? She's just twenty, never been under so much pressure. She's overwhelmed with everything. It's nothing serious," she assured him.Tony frowned. "Twenty? She looks like she's twelve. Too thin."Ivy was taken off guard, not expecting Tony to make those observations in a woman he didn't like but the fact was staring her in the face. Tony had had too much experience with women and didn't need a doctor to know that something was wrong with the woman his mother brought for him. Ivy couldn't tell Tony the truth. He would despise Abigail. "She is petite. Nothing serious. Everything happened so...ehm…I mean so fast, she's being nostalgic," she tactfully said but her actions spoke otherwise and Tony was too smart to not notice."Then why are you nervous and stuttering? I never heard you stammer before. Besides, she is the lightest woman I have ever carried. Doesn't she eat? She seems to

The driver didn't opt to open the door when they arrived. They were in the public eye. Abigail nervously draped on her fur coat, which had been given her by Ivy to fight off the chilly autumn wind. Tony alighted and walked over to Abigails' side. A small smile lined his lips when he opened the door but his eyes were distant when he extended his hand towards her. Ivy's car had pulled over behind them but she couldn't offer any form of help at the moment. The couple had to solve their own problems. The camera flashes, brighter than the sparkling lights illuminating the luxurious hotel, blinded Abigail when her side of the door opened. She could feel a thousand gazes on her, making her stiff and cramp. As if given permission, the microphones and cameras were all around her, she felt hot from their closeness and the blinding camera flashes as soon as the sole of her stilettos touched the red carp

Back in the conference room where the documents were being signed and the transition ongoing, the event was interrupted by a live video on the screen. As the saying goes, when you throw a ball against the wall, it will bounce back to you. Tony had left to the garden at a stroke, while Ivy took over the remaining details. Kisha calmed herself. If anything, she did not want to cause Brian any form of embarrassment “Is there anything wrong with that? Companies reshuffle every time and you seem to be stuck in the same position for two years. You should be happy that I put in a word for you,” she leveraged, not refusing the accusation against her. Linda was distressed. She only guessed but it turned out to be true. Being Brian’s secretary was her only way of getting close to him. She’s been at it for the past two years and was not ready to give up. “I might just be a secretary but I am paid better than most people,” she said directly, hinting that she did not appreciate Kisha’s so-called help. Kisha stared at her with revolt. “Is that so?” she asked with feigned seriousness. “How about I ask Brian to give you a 20% raise?” She asked again. “Will that be enough? Look, I’m being nice because, in a way, you feel inconvenienced,” Kisha concluded. Seeing that her first plan was not working, and Kisha was not

Kisha boarded a taxi to Brian’s office. Since it was her first time there, she was a little lost. Luckily, she met the receptionist who recalled her from their wedding pictures online. “Mrs. Wright, how may I help you?” She let out a kind smile and asked. Kisha smiled back, saying, “I am here to see Brian.” “I have not seen him leave, which means he is in his office but his secretary should know more,” The receptionist said, as she glanced at the secretary’s office, which was transparent due to the glass compartment. Seeing it was not occupied, she leveraged, “That is Mr. Wright’s office but I don’t know where his secretary is. Perhaps to serve his morning coffee.” Hearing morning coffee, Kisha’s heart twitched a little. “Thank you,” she said to the receptionist, and without knocking, she opened the secretary’s office door, and went through to Brian’s. Indeed, Linda was serving Brian’s coffee, and seeing Kisha, Brian smiled. Linda did not know that someone had walked into the offic

“Mrs. Wright, I must say that you are a very stunning woman but what a bad choice you have for a husband,” Mr. Bennette said as soon as Brian walked out. Kisha raged. “Are you talking to me?” She grimaced and asked. Mr. Bennette found it cute the way she was acting hard to get. He said slowly, “It’s just the two of us here and like I was saying, I am wondering your reason for marrying him. If it’s money, then I’m equally rich.” Kisha’s lips pursed. Every respect she had for this man from before dropped to zero degrees. He was very attractive but lacked dignity. Perhaps if he knew who she was, he might think twice and not act like a fool anymore. “My father is Isaac Newton and I am the head of the Engineers Corporation. Do you still think that I married Brian because of money?” She asked with a serious unwavering gaze. Mr. Bennette froze a little. The next moment, he said, “Sorry, I misread that part but then, you are in love with him. I feel sorry for you but I am still available.

“Isn’t it too much? You must be tired after last night and what happened to the maids?” Brian hugged Kisha from the back and asked in a deep desirous voice. Kisha giggled and responded whilst platting, “I sent some of them to get groceries and the others to the garden. I just don’t want any of them walking around for a while.” Brian’s lips planted kisses around her ears before he sucked on her neck. “It smells delicious.” Kisha smiled tightly but did not respond when Brian asked again, “What about work?” “I called to inform them that I’d be late. So, we should eat now,” she said and carried the tray of good-looking lasagna, recalling how terrible it was when they tried to do it together before. “I called your mum to guide me through it but I’m not sure if it tastes like hers,” Kisha said with a sorry expression when Brian paused after chewing and swallowing a bite of the lasagna. She could not tell whether or not he liked it. Brian looked into her eyes and said, “You don’t have

Arriving at the villa, Kisha dragged Brian to his bedroom. When the door pushed open, her jaw dropped, and she froze. “Hey, you cheated. This is bigger and more luxurious than my room,” she nagged. Brian chuckled. How was it his fault when she refused to share their room and settled for another? “It's for the two of us but you didn’t want to share,” he said softly, not wanting her to feel more guilty than she already was. He wrapped his hand around her waist from behind and she turned to face him as he asked, “So, did you mean everything you said earlier?” Kisha pulled away and his eyes dulled. The next moment, she went around him and closed the door, locking it securely. Light returned to Brian’s eyes as he saw her admiring the room. He saw how her eyes dimed when she saw female clothes in the closet. The next moment, her pretty face contoured with a frown. “Yes, I meant it when you promised not to see other women. Perhaps I made a mistake,” she said in a saddened voice, while she

Kisha stilled for a second before processing the information. She felt like she was in a daze when she left the meeting without a word to her managers and drove to the hospital. Even when her secretary thought of driving her there, she had already left. Reaching the hospital, she was ushered to the doctor’s office as soon as she mentioned her name. “Why has it taken you so long to come?” The doctor asked. Kisha was slightly guilty, looking down, and said defensively, “I came as soon as I heard the news.” The doctor did not accept the excuse. The first person he expected to see after the accident was Kisha but she was rather the last to arrive. “The hospital called you with Brian’s number hours before then. Your number was on the speed dial when we needed to contact a relative. His parents and yours left an hour ago and said they would be back in the evening,” the doctor explained accusingly. Kisha’s guilt increased. Even her parents knew and she didn't. She wondered why they did not

As the days went by, Brian would call Kisha to check on her and if she refused to answer his call and did not return them after an hour or two, he would drive to the corporation. He was so pushy that he became a member of the corporation and no longer a visitor. Brian would always be in her office unannounced. The more she tried to push him away, the closer he got until Kisha began to accept the fact that Brian would always be a part of her life. She contributed little to nothing to the wedding but Brian had gotten to know her favorite things from her Aunty Rita in Zcity, and communicated them to his mother Abigail, who was the wedding planner, ensuring that everything went well. Betty, Brian’s twin sister, flew from Europe with her husband and daughter to attend the wedding, which was one of the most lavish in Mcity. Rita traveled from Zcity and the way she bonded with Kisha, arose a few jealous strings in Tanya. She was conflicted within herself if it was right
