Others always revered Thaddeus, and yet right now, Jessamine was willing to do anything just to get away from him.

Was he really that off-putting?

Jessamine's attitude toward him made him feel like a failure for the first time in his 28 years of living.

"This divorce is not up to you," he said as he took out the divorce papers that had been signed not long ago from the study room.

He then tore the papers into shreds and flung them into the air.

The white shreds of paper floated lightly like snow, and Jessamine felt as if her emotions, which she had tried so hard to compose, were now as scattered as the paper shreds on the floor.

He held such power over her. Just a few words from him was enough to break her defenses. Despite how much she prepared herself to be strong, she was always weak before him.

Jessamine finished her glass of milk, but it felt as if it didn't reach her stomach at all. She felt as if there was something lodged in her throat, making it hard for her to breath
