Danielle's POV
“Is this really me?” I asked the assistant as I stared at myself in the mirror. I never imagined I would look so elegant in a wedding dress. I always thought I was going to look like a mother of four in a wedding dress, didn’t know it was all about the dress.Everything is happening so fast, too fast. I didn’t need to ask him before I knew how I looked. The way he looked at me and said I looked like his wife made me blush a little. He took a picture and when I was done, I felt reluctant to take the dress off.“What do you think?” I asked him when I came back from the dresser. “Perfect. You just need a little bit of family heirloom to complete the look.” I smiled and followed him out of the shop. He got me a pair of glass shoes.Looking at it from a distance, I thought it was going to hurt once I put my leg in it. “I don’t think it’s a good idea but you paid for it already. I mean there are other types in the mall.”Danielle's POVI couldn’t take my mind off Mark’s words. They ring in my head like a clang on a bell. Now I had a lot of what-ifs to ask but it seems odd. Bryan hasn’t been himself since the encounter with Mark.“I'm sure you know something I do not know. I think I know Bryan the way I should already and nothing is disputing it. The first time you came to my house, Linda, you told me you knew something about him. I think this is the best time to talk about it. Don't you think so?”I said to Linda over the phone. She is scoffed. “If you have Bryan with you, you do not have to worry about anything. He would protect you at all costs? I just can't wait for Mark to go to jail.”I am not sure if I wish the same. In a way, Mark isn't a bad person to me. He hasn't caused any form of harm to me and he hasn't made any advances. He might have been a bad person to other people but… I think he's just someone who is misunderstood.“How is your wedding dress? You are getting married in a few days.”
Isabelle's POVMom didn’t stop talking about Danielle till we got home. She kept asking me a lot of questions, personal questions I wouldn’t have an answer to. “When was she born? You say you went to school together, do you know her parents?” She enquired. I gave her a fake smile and she knew it was fake.“How am I supposed to know about that mom? Mom, this is the same Danielle who was dragging my boyfriend with me and now, she has to go herself and you were never in support of her. Suddenly, you met her and your taste and way of reasoning has changed.”She banked the table where she kept all the ingredients we bought from the mall. “Are you using this avenue to speak to me that way?”I looked away and focused on my fingers. “You have never shown such interest in me and yet, you saw Danielle and you were all eager to know more about her. You kept asking me questions I do not have answers for. What exactly do you want!” I half yelled. She looked at me blankly, surprise written all over
Danielle's POV“Danielle!!! For the fifth time, get off your bed now!” Clara shouted, hitting me with a pillow and disturbing my sleep. I have never had a peaceful rest like I was having at the moment and for the past ten minutes, she has been shouting in my ears.“Clara…please. Try later okay…I—”“Get out of the fucking bed. It’s your fucking wedding day!”My eyes shut open and I sprung up from bed. I blinked a few times and looked at Clara who sat with folded hands and pouring lips.“You didn’t mean that, do you?” I asked. I ran down to the table where I had left my phone the night before. Indeed, it was my wedding day. The alarm had gone off several times after ringing to no avail. My hands started trembling, my brain could not process anything. I checked my phone again for the time and luckily, the time was still a few minutes after 6 a.m. I sighed and the range in me cooled down. I sat back in the bed and laid my palm on my forehead to cool the pressure and headache I felt the i
Danielle’s POVI sat at the entrance of the church, refusing to move an inch. I watched them take him away. He followed them like he knew they would be coming around. The weight of despair weighed me down, I could barely look up. I wailed in agony, soaked in the tear that should be a. Joyful one. When Bryan was entering the car, he didn’t take his eyes off me. He didn’t say a word, all he did was shake his head before entering the car. I know what that means. He didn’t do it.I hugged my knees and patted my shoulders as tears ruined my face. I have become a stock to be looked at. Once again, I am at the pity of people. I hurried my face within my shoulders. How I wish I could go along with him. Why. Did they have to come now? Why this moment? All that was left to do was for him to say yes. That was all. “We need to go home,” Clara said. I glared at her. She flinched and took some steps back. I stood up and dropped my bouquet. Once more, I would need myself to be strong. I always fin
Bryan's POVI sat down by the corner of the cell, discomfort swirling around me. The bed was too short, too small and too hard. The cell smelled of rotten poops and smelling bodies. This was a cell, not a prison. I swigged and tossed my head back. What is Danielle doing? Where could she be, what would she be thinking about?Someone opened my cell and took me to the investigation room. A dark room that had tinted fibreglass by the wall. A cop sat in front of me. “You are a suspect,” he started. “We know you and we know what you are capable of doing. You just have been very careless with this one and that is why we can catch you now.”He opened a book. “Mr Smith, for years we have been trying to hunt you down, find all your mess and hope for digital evidence but you are so good, that you leave no traces at all. How did you kill Susan?”I smiled. “If you know me so well, why do you think I killed Susan? I mean you said it yourself, I leave no traces then how were you able to trace Susan
Danielle’s POV I have gone hunting for days looking for every piece of evidence I can get to justify Bryan's innocence but I have found none. I went to the proposed scene where they found the dead body" It didn't look like Bryan's style. A few reporters have come knocking on my door, asking if I am okay. It's quite silly for them to ask me that when I knew the main reason they were coming for me. they needed information for feeds. They needed things to put out as headlines.I got the information I needed about Susan's family address. I visited once or twice, waiting to know if they were getting a burial done anytime soon. It's been a week and I haven't been allowed to see him. Yesterday, a reporter came into my house like every other reporter but she was different. I closed the door on her but she stopped it with her foot. "I am not going anywhere. I am also interested in this case, let me help you."She did seem to be interested in it and that was how I allowed her in and she told
Danielle’s POV Bryan has now become a face I see everywhere I go. Newspapers… billboards… radio… he is everywhere and I have been tagged with it. Today is the trial and I have dressed up with the determination of coming back home with my husband today. The kids sat back at home with Clara, they said they were going to watch from home. I wore my makeup and dressed smartly like a lawyer. When I got to the court, everyone was there. Bryan sat beside the lawyer and Susan’s family on the other side. I sat in front, where other people sat. When my eyes locked with Bryan’s, he gave me a reassuring smile, one that gave me a lot of hope. The judge came in and we started the trial as it should be. The persecutor and our defendant started with their proposal and how Bryan was not guilty. The prosecutor went in to tell the judge why Bryan might be guilty. Most of his words emanated from him being a very wicked person from his experience with people. The argument went on and on and a witness was
The judge started. “Even though your husband is going through all of this, you stood by his side till the very end and insisted on marrying him before the sentence. I have seen how you went to the police HQ every time to look for him. I admire the bond you both share. So, for this reason, according to section 98, I shall reduce the sentence to one year in the purity prison which would take place tomorrow after his wedding with his wife.” He adjourned the court. I ran to Bryan and hugged him as tight as I could. “Oh, Danielle. I told you to let me be. I told you-—”I shut him up with the warmest kiss I could give. Although he had been sentenced, everyone around was clapping and smiling for our reunion. They freed him and let him go with me. The press attacked us outside but Bryan’s men helped us make way. I have less than twenty-four hours to spend with him. I hung to his arm, I would never let go. It’s been a month and tomorrow, he will be gone for a year. When we got home, the kids
