Chapter 37

As the tension between John and Diana continued to escalate, I tried to intervene, placing a calming hand on John's arm. But he shook me off, his anger and hurt boiling over.

"Diana, leave now," he spat, his voice cold and detached. "We are no longer married. You left this marriage a long time ago, and now you're expecting me to accept you back? I should have waited when you left and married another man?"

Diana's face twisted in anger, her eyes flashing with defiance. "I am still your legally married wife, John," she yelled, her voice echoing through the hallway. "You either accept that or not, we aren't divorced yet."

John turned his back on her, his jaw clenched in anger. He took my hand and pulled me upstairs, leaving Diana standing alone in the foyer.

As we reached the top of the stairs, John turned to me, his eyes still blazing with anger. "I'm sorry you had to see that," he said, his voice tight with emotion.
