Rose's POV

My heart raced as I debated my next move. His voice stirred up different emotions and reactions in me, from a fast heartbeat, sweaty palms, and a swirling mix of anxiety and anticipation.

The memories of the past flooded my mind, threatening to overwhelm me, although I refused to let them consume me, I wasn't sure I could hold it off much longer.

"Rose? Talk to me. I know it's you," he said, moving closer, then he placed his hand on my shoulder and I knew there was nothing I could do to avoid him now.

He closed the gap and then pulled me into a hug, his breath was heavy and my tears increased and streamed down my face as I hugged him back.
