Rose's POV

I slumped into the seat, desperately trying to make myself smaller, as if I could hide from Luke's penetrating gaze. The bus continued to rumble down the road, and I held my breath, hoping that we would soon be out of my Father and Luke's reach.

Linda, sensing my distress, placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. "Rose, we'll be okay. We are leaving already," she whispered, her voice filled with determination. "

I nodded, trying to steady my racing heart. Linda was right. We had come so far, and overcome so many obstacles together. We couldn't let Luke's presence derail us now.
