"Don't worry, Royal. Devi didn't leave. She had to take a phone call. Something urgent came up, but she'll be back soon. She asked me to stay and be with you until she returns."

"Oh, I see," I replied, a bit disappointed that their conversation was interrupted, but also understanding that emergencies can happen at any time.

Rico pulled up a chair and sat down next to me. "I hope you're doing okay. I can only imagine how overwhelming everything must be for you, especially with everything that's been going on lately. We couldn't finish our conversations earlier either…"

"It has been a lot," I admitted, glancing down at Aiden who was peacefully sleeping in his crib. "But I'm hanging in there. Aiden, my fire, keeps me strong. And now, with Devi's presence, I feel a little more supported too."

Rico nodded, smiling, as his mind drifted to his mate. "Devi is a good person. She's always been protective of those she cares about, and I can see she genuinely cares for you and Aiden."
