“What?" Tristan uttered in shock while I stared at the Alpha King with wide eyes.

“You were going to have her killed before, weren't you? So why don't you want her to reject you?" The Alpha King uttered and I frowned before turning to Tristan.

He was right. Tristan was going to have me killed and he didn't even wait till I was dead before he went with my sister.

Anger suddenly surged in me and I wanted nothing more than to reject him at that moment but I couldn't. Despite everything, he was my mate and I still loved him.

Everyone turned to me, waiting for my answer while I fidgeted under the Alpha King's gaze.

“I…" I looked up at the Alpha King with pleading eyes, begging him not to force me to make that choice right now.

Yes, eventually I was going to reject Tristan but now was not the time. I wasn't sure I could take that pain.

“Hmm," The Alpha King hummed then turned to Kade.

“See them out." He muttered then began to walk away while Kade nodded as he walked over to them.

“Your Majesty, you made the rules and I suggest you abide by them. It was stated that every Alpha had total control of his pack and that means no one is allowed to meddle in our affairs. Dahlia committed a grave offense against my pack and she needs to be punished." Tristan hurriedly said before Kade could get to him.

Before I could blink, I felt a gush of wind pass by me and I gasped when I saw The Alpha King in front of me with his fingers around Tristan's neck.

“A lowly wolf like you doesn't have any right to question me. I rule everyone and I have every right to do whatever I want. Your father is the only reason why you aren't dead already because I'd like to honor his death but never make the mistake of questioning me for as long as you live." The Alpha King uttered and I gasped as he threw Tristan away like a bag of feathers.

Tristan crashed to the ground and Valerie immediately rushed towards him.

“Tristan!" She screamed as she helped him up from the ground as he coughed out blood.

“Escort them out immediately," The Alpha King uttered as he turned around and walked away.

“Come with me, Dahlia," I tensed up as the Alpha King stared down at me.

I opened my mouth to say something but he walked away before I could get the word out. I let out a sigh and was about to walk away when Tristan called out my name.

“Dahlia," I paused in my steps then turned to him. It was like he was begging me to go with him but why? Didn't he plan on killing me?

Valerie immediately placed her arm around his waist as she glared at me and I frowned then turned around and walked away.

As I walked into the huge mansion, a man immediately led me to where the Alpha King was. As soon as I got to the grand doors, the man excused himself and I stood in front of the door, fidgeting.

I've heard only scary things about him but he couldn't be that scary if he saved me… right?

I took a deep breath then pushed the door open and there he was, sitting by his desk with a cup of coffee in his hand.

He raised his head up from the paper in his hand to stare at me and I immediately bowed my head.

”Thank you for saving me, I'll be forever indebted to you but I want to ask. Why did you save me? Don't you see me as a criminal too?" I murmured and I heard him chuckle.

“You must have had your reasons," He uttered and I frowned at his words.

“I didn't kill him, I would never kill my Alpha." I muttered and he scoffed.

“You are too weak to kill an Alpha, Little wolf. Your wolf is barely alive so how could a frail wannabe wolf like you kill an Alpha? That's an insult if I've ever heard of one." He muttered and I frowned.

“So you believe me? Are you going to help me?" He tilted his head.

“I could care less about that. That's not why I saved you," He muttered and my frown deepened.

“W.. why?" Goosebumps crawled up my skin the closer he got. I took a few steps backwards and gasped lightly as I felt the wall beneath my back and before I could move, he placed both his hands beside me, trapping me against his body.

“What… what are you doing?" I stuttered as I stared at him with wide eyes.

I sucked in my breath as he caressed my cheek with his thumb just like he did outside earlier.

It was such a simple action but the amount of sexual tension between us at that moment made my heart pound.

“At first I thought of killing you." He muttered and I gasped.

“What?"

“It bothered me. I couldn't understand why I was reacting to you, Why I wanted to hold you despite not even knowing you. You smelt like shit yet it was intoxicating for some reason. I fucking hated it and I wanted you dead but how could I not give in to lust?" My heart raced as he caressed my face with his thumb till it landed on my bottom lip.

“You intrigue me for some reason. No woman has ever been able to do that and I want to know why considering what a weak wolf you are. You are not even as beautiful as the women I've been with and yet, I'm drawn to someone like you. Why?" He muttered softly with a confused look on his face. His words kind of sting but I tried not to show it.

“What exactly are you implying?" I murmured. Without replying, he placed his hand on the back of my thigh and I froze then gasped as he gave it a little squeeze.

“That I want to taste you. I want to feel your skin beneath my fingers and I want to leave you breathless. That's all I want from you." He muttered and my eyes widened. How was he able to say all that with a straight face?

What was I expecting him to say? That he wanted to get to know me? He was attracted to me? He was the Alpha King for crying out loud.

“I'm not going to be a sex doll for you and if that's why you saved me then I'd prefer you left me out there to die." I muttered. He stared at me for a while then chuckled and I gasped loudly when he suddenly wrapped his fingers around my neck tightly.

“Then you die, you make a choice," He murmured while I struggled against his hold. I could feel the air being ripped out from my lungs.

“I won't sleep with you, you can go ahead and kill me." I choked out and he stared at me for a while before letting out a loud laugh as he let go of my neck.

I fell to the ground coughing as I caressed my neck then turned to glare at me.

“This is why I'm intrigued by you. No one has ever dared refuse an offer from me, especially a woman. Do you know how many women would die for an offer like that?" He muttered.

“I'm not one of those women and I will never be one." I murmured and he chuckled.

“How about I give you an ultimatum. I'll let you go back to your pack and you'll be given two days to prove your innocence. If you do that without my help, you are free to leave and do whatever you want but if you so much as ask for my help, you and I will make a deal and my deal includes a lot of things, Dahlia. You'll get power, power over everything and anyone as long as you are with me. It's a win-win for both of us," I frowned.

“I won't need your help." He chuckled then sipped on his coffee.

“You have two days, Dahlia and your time starts now. It's either you die or let me taste you. You decide which one is more unfortunate." He muttered and I frowned.

“And how am I so sure you'd let me leave if I find proof by myself? How can I trust you?" I uttered and he smirked.

“Never trust me, that would be your biggest mistake."...
