Quinn POV
The group of us are scattered around the area behind the bunkhouses trying to get a better look at what is going on. We need to determine if this is all the people here or if there is more inside the caves. From what I can see these guys are not here being used as slaves they seem to be here willingly. Also now that we have made our way closer we can see where they have been mining something. There are tracks the kind that you see in the movies with the little carts on them. The tracks lead out of one of the caves to an area where they can be dumped into trucks, but from here I can’t tell what they have been mining for.
I look towards the other end of the cliff face and see movement in the tree line. “Look over there,” I say nudging Kyle and Levi. We watch as about six men in our age group start to quickly make their way toward the far side of the caves. Levi makes his way over to his Dad. There is a bit of nodding and head shaking. Mac turns
Possible Trauma TriggersAlpha Shane POVLeaving the kids, yes I know that they are not kids. They are all in their early to mid-twenties they are adults, but they are still our kids. And no matter how old they get we will always want to protect them even more so with being their Alpha. I am starting to have a much better understanding of how my Father had felt over the years. Anyway, we left them in the room to wait for the other two to wake up. The rest of us and some of the Council members have returned to the packhouse to review some of the things we gathered from the Four Corners site. The offices by the caves contained a ton of files, some from the corrupt Council members and some from this other person who took over from them. Some of the files are dated back before the attack like way back. We haven’t found anything about who was keeping them originally but we have been able to figure out that it was Jake and Bruce who had taken over some of the goings on when the Council left
April POVAfter all the hugs and 'Are you OK' questions are done our parents get ready to head back to the packhouse to start wading through all the files and books that were brought back from Four Corners. Before closing the door Uncle Shane turns to us. “When those two are discharged I need the group of you to join us there is a lot to go through. The fact that I saw our pack’s name on a couple of the files isn’t sitting right with me. We need to figure out what these guys were planning and who all is involved.”“I can go with you now.”“No, you were in that cave collapse too, rest for a bit. The doctor already said they were only going to keep them in here until they wake up because the bones will be fine on their own with the braces on.” Uncle Shane says. “We’ll see you guys in a couple of hours.”As soon as the door was closed I grabbed Levi’s arm and pulled him over to the chairs making him sit. “What the hell happened? Why do our mates look like that?” I say swinging my arm out
Meg POV“Levi you can’t go running off. Wait for the rest of us.” I hear Dad yelling as we approach the packhouse. I can see Levi heading towards the tree line holding one of the specially made backpacks we use for carrying supplies in wolf form.“I’m not waiting. I need to get to her now.” Levi yells back. “It won’t take me that long to get there.”“Use your fucking brain boy I taught you better than that.” At Dad’s words, Levi stops in his tracks and turns back to face Dad. Dad lets out a sigh as to walks over to Levi and in a calmer voice says. “I understand that you are worried but you can’t go off running back to Twin Moon. Wait for the rest of us. We are taking the chopper back. You will get there sooner and you won’t be worn out from the run.”“But Dad I need…” Levi starts.“I know son. She’s special to you.” Dad says putting his arm around Levi’s shoulders and steering him back into the packhouse.I look at Quinn who is on crutches that he was instructed to use for the rest of
Kyle POVIt has been about two weeks since we arrived and started digging through all the files and books left behind. Mona has been pouring over all of it. When we first arrived I was in a bit of a panic but Alpha, I mean Uncle Shane helped calm me down. I had gotten myself all worked up on the helicopter ride here over what Councilwoman Brenda had said. She had told me that I was in charge since it was my territory by birth. I was not comfortable with that. I hadn’t grown up like the twins, Quinn or Levi, learning how to run a pack. I grew up learning how to hunt werewolves not be one. I had been so close to telling her to send someone else when Uncle Shane asked if he and Mona could join us. I had almost dropped to my knees in a praise of thank yous. By the knowing look on his face, he had been able to tell that I was on the verge of panicking. But even knowing that they were going to be here hadn’t helped stop my mind from running amuck. I don’t know what made them think that I co
Quinn POVUncle Shane and Aunt Mona arrived back yesterday with a shit ton more boxes of paperwork and files to go through. Whatever had been going on up there all these years had at least been documented. The problem was none of it looked good. “Well, I think that is the last of it,” Reed said placing the last box on the floor. All the boxes had been brought into what I thought was our nicest conference room. The room was mostly all windows. It had an amazing view of the forest on one side. Then on the other, you could see through to the breeze and the main lobby of the packhouse. The twins and I had been tasked with arranging the boxes where Meg and Heather needed them. No one wanted the two of them to move the heavy boxes, especially Heather. She has a hard enough time moving herself at the moment. The other day I got a chuckle watching her trying to get herself off the couch. No, I did not just stand there and laugh at the very pregnant woman as she struggled. Reed and Lucas were
Kyle POV“Oh my Goddess she had three of them.” I heard April yell in excitement.“What?”“Heather. She had triplets. Twin girls and a boy.” She said with a huge smile on her face. “Quinn says that babies and Mommy are all doing good. They haven’t decided on names yet.”Watching April’s face light up when she got the news about her family brought a smile to my face but it was making it harder to bring up the subject that I needed to talk to her about.“Butterfly, I need to talk to you about something,” I said as I walked across the room to join her on the couch. We were in the office at the packhouse. After all the people in the cell had been given a clean bill of health, a group of them had come to me asking what the plans were for the village. Uncle Shane had suggested that I let them into the buildings to clean up and see what kind of damage had been done through years of neglect. The elder woman, Edith, the one that I had been carrying out of the cave when the explosions started se
Kyle POVI went down to the storage room to look for James and Trevor. A pack link hasn't been established since there is no official pack yet. I had passed Edith at the top of the stairs and she had informed me that they were done for the day and the guys were just straightening things up before leaving. I quietly made my way down the hall. I wasn’t trying to be sneaky I was just used to not letting people know I was around. It was a habit I formed while living in the bunkers with my Uncle and his group. As I neared the open door I could hear the guys talking. “Do you think he’ll stay?” Asked Trevor, I think“I don’t know man.”“What are your thoughts on us trying to run the place if he doesn’t stay?”“What do you mean, Trevor?” OK, I was right Trevor was the first to speak.“I mean that you are part of the original Beta family and it’s not like the Council hasn’t appointed Betas to an Alpha position before. Why couldn’t you be Alpha James?”“I don’t know. It just doesn’t feel right.
Meg POVThings have been a little hectic around here lately. We have all been busy. Between Heather giving birth and helping John and Ingrid prepare everything to take to Four Corners. But not busy enough to let an opportunity to poke fun at Shane about his behavior the night Heather had the babies. There have been many times I’ve watched John make fun of him. My Dad tried but all he got out of Shane was, “Your turn is coming just wait.” As Shane would point at me to make his point to both Dad and Aaron which slowed them down at making fun of him.But it hasn’t stopped John, like now. “Dad, will you stop?” Shane says with a chuckle. “I get it. I kind of lost my cool.”“Lost your cool? Son your brain stopped functioning right about the time that you went running through the packhouse yelling and I quote ‘Get out of my way. I’m going to be a Grandpa.’”“What makes you think I would ever do anything like that?” Shane asks with a look that says you don’t have proof.“Even if I hadn’t been
