Kyle POVI got word yesterday that the group traveling from Twin Moon will be here sometime today as long as the rest of their drive goes well. I have spent the last few days reviewing things with James and Trevor. There are still things that are missing from my memory from before the attack but I remember enough to understand what the two of them have been describing to me. The stuff that was going on in the caves has been on our minds the most. The guys and I vaguely remember the mining being part of the pack's income. I remember going to the mines with my Grandpa when he started teaching my father what it was all about and how things were run but I didn’t pay much attention to it. We have been trying to find anyone who worked in the mines to get their knowledge but haven’t had any luck. It would seem that the Council got rid of them thinking that they would be the ones most able to sabotage their operations at the time. I have a stack of files that I’m going to have Meg go through
April POVThings have moved a lot faster than I thought they were going to. My grandparents have been great. The biggest help was getting things straightened out with the mines. Kyle had been worried at first that James, Trevor and he would spend their whole time sitting in the office learning how to run the pack. Boy, were they wrong. They have spent maybe a total of ten hours in the office learning paperwork-related stuff in the last three months. The rest of the time has been either combat training with Quinn and Dylan or down at the mines trying to learn how things are run. Meg was able to put together a crew with some basic knowledge of how to do things safely. There had been one older gentleman, named Mitchell, who had worked in the mines briefly when he was younger but because of an injury he sustained in the attack he was unable to physically work in them so he never thought to say anything.“From what we found in the records you were trained on all the equipment. Is that corr
Quinn POVI’m sitting in this tiny room with Meg waiting for Dr. Beal to come back with the test results. He doesn’t think that there is anything to worry about at this stage in Meg’s pregnancy but I asked him to run the tests anyway. I brought her here the minute we got back to the pack. She had started having some spotting when we had stopped for supper last night. I had wanted to drive through the night and get back here as soon as possible. But Meg made me stop and get a room for the night. I only reason I agreed was because the spotting had stopped. But again I still wanted her to come and see Dr. Beal.“Well Meg, Quinn everything seems to be fine according to the tests. But I was thinking that we could do an ultrasound while you’re here. Did you have any while you were away?” Dr. Beal asks as he walks in pushing a portable ultrasound machine.“No, the last one I had was the one here with you just before we left for Four Corners,” Meg answers.“Right we tried to find out the sex
More Focus on Levi’s story.Levi POVI heard the guys come into the gym but I ignored them. I know they are worried about me but they don’t need to be. They have their own lives and mates and babies to worry about. They don’t need to spend their time with their left-out and forgotten mateless friend. I’ll be fine. There is no need to worry. I will be right as rain as soon as I figure out who was or may still be after Molly. But that girl is not making things easy. She is staying out all hours of the night. I have had more than ten calls from Janice in the last five months asking me to go and look for Molly. And every damn time I have found her out with some guy that is too old for her. OK, I will admit that most of them are only a year or two years older than her, but she shouldn't be with them. She is too young to be dating. I notice Quinn moving towards me I know that they are here to spar hoping it will help with my frustration. I also know that Quinn will not give me any warning b
Levi POV“Why didn’t you ever tell us any of that before?” Reed asked“Yeah instead of that bullshit about scoping out a good hiding place for our next training session?” Lucas adds.“I was fourteen. Do you know how stupid it sounded even to me that I was going into the woods to look for something because I wasn’t even sure what I was looking for just because I had a dream? A dream where I was told by a voice that I had to protect what I found for my life.”“With all the crazy shit that we have gone through over the last four, four and a half years do you really think that we wouldn’t have believed you?” Quinn asked.“Yeah, because I found Molly a year and a half before Heather came to live here. For all I knew, Molly was going to grow up to be your mate.” I say pointing at Quinn. “Or even yours.” I point at Reed and Lucas. “I just didn’t know but it made sense that I was going to be responsible for her safety if she was mated to any of you.” I sit up and run my hands through my hair.
Levi POV“What are you talking about Janice? What do you mean Molly is gone?”“I knew something was up with her when she came to see me earlier. She asked if she could skip working tonight because she didn’t feel well. I let her because she did look a little pale. I went home to check on her after getting the dinner crew set up. I found this on the kitchen table.” Janice says holding up a piece of paper.Dear GrandmaI know this will hurt you but I have to leave. There were only two things that made me feel as if I belonged here, and one of them was you. You have been great to me and I love you very much. I know that I have caused you a lot of worry lately and I’m sorry for that. But after hearing what I did today I now know that the other reason I was staying for is not a reason anymore. What I was hoping for will never happen. I don’t know where I’m going but I will be OK. I have the skills to protect myself. Please remember that I love you and I will be in touch once and a while to
Molly POVAs I climbed into the truck I caught a whiff of the strong pumpkin pie scent that always follows Levi. I knew that he would come after me as soon as Grandma found my note. He would be the first person she would go to. When I first picked up his scent I felt safe for the first time since I had left the territory. The whole time I had been on the move I had the feeling that I was being followed. I wasn’t able to pick up any strange scents but something still felt off. It may have been because I was leaving the one place that I have always left safe. I may have felt safe but I never felt quite like I belonged. It’s hard to explain.I lucked out and the truck driver that stopped was a woman about Grandma’s age. I was able to give her a sob story about being stupid and coming up here to surprise my older boyfriend at the new job that he had moved up here to take only to find out that he was married with three kids. He had been on a job assignment when I met him and had returned t
Unknown POVI can’t believe that the little bitch gave us the slip. I don’t know what caused her to run out of here like she did but she looked like she was going to be sick. I would have run after her but didn’t want to draw attention to us but by the time we got outside, she was nowhere in sight. I couldn’t even pick up her scent. That’s the problem with such a busy human place. The smells of perfumes, body washes and hair products overpower everything else add in the smell that comes off the buses it’s almost impossible to track anyone by scent alone. I don’t think she saw me because I had just spotted her a minute or so before she ran. Not only that, she has always trusted me. After all, that was my job when I went to Twin Moon make sure she trusted me. It wasn’t easy at first either. She was so hung up on that jackass Levi. When you heard her talk about him you’d think the guy sneezed gold and shit rainbows. I had been there for about a year making no progress when all the shit h
