Kyle POVI don’t know how to describe the emotions that went through me when I heard and saw April as she made her way onto the road. I was running towards her before she even started to fall. I held her to me the same way I had when I had run to the clinic, Goddess that was only six hours ago. The whole trip back to Alpha Graham’s pack I held her tight rubbing my hand in small circles on her back. We’ve been back at the clinic for about an hour now. April is in a room on the second floor with only one door in or out. It helps the nerves to know that Brooke has been placed in a cell but I’m still not leaving April until she wakes up.Quinn and Meg left to call Alpha Shane, I could start calling him Uncle Shane since he had been repeatedly telling me to do so the whole time I was there. Quinn was going to fill them in back at Twin Moon about what had happened. I was thinking about the things that Dee had told us about Jake replaying that last interview in my mind. This Jake fellow must
Quinn POV“What is it? Do you guys know what this means?” One of the Council members who hadn’t been part of Avery’s retrial asked.“That is the same isn’t it?” Asked the one who had interviewed Meg that day.Aunt Mona nods. “Yeah, that is the same as Heather’s mate marks.” She says as she places her phone on the table after pulling up pictures of Heather and the twin’s marks.Aunt Mona went on to explain all the things that they had uncovered and everything that had happened over the years related to the curse on our bloodline.“So you’re telling us that somehow this guy who started all this crap has been influencing this group of people somehow.” The first Council member asks.“I really couldn’t tell you. All I know is that image is the same as Heather’s mate mark and this guy was a manipulative bastard. From what we found he would stop at nothing to get what he wanted. He litter tried to fight death.”“We need to get up there and figure out what the fuck is going on. If what Brooke
Meg POV“Meg, Honey sit down. Luna Sara is going to have to replace the flooring if you keep pacing like that.”“I can’t sit Mom. Something is wrong. I don’t what and I don’t know why I think it but something is wrong. Something is going to happen.” I almost yell at my Mom in frustration. It started about an hour after the men left. They have now been gone for almost ten hours. At first, I thought it was just me being upset that they had left us behind. I understand why Quinn didn’t want me to go. He was scared more about the unknown terrain and with me being unable to shift if I had to than anything but it still didn’t sit right with me. Now I know it is not that there is something wrong. The fact that there is no cell service and they are too far away to link with is only making it worse. Two of the Council guards stayed behind from the group that showed up to take Brooke into custody, so when their sat phone rings, I almost barrel into the poor guy wanting to know who it is. By the
Quinn POVThe group of us are scattered around the area behind the bunkhouses trying to get a better look at what is going on. We need to determine if this is all the people here or if there is more inside the caves. From what I can see these guys are not here being used as slaves they seem to be here willingly. Also now that we have made our way closer we can see where they have been mining something. There are tracks the kind that you see in the movies with the little carts on them. The tracks lead out of one of the caves to an area where they can be dumped into trucks, but from here I can’t tell what they have been mining for.I look towards the other end of the cliff face and see movement in the tree line. “Look over there,” I say nudging Kyle and Levi. We watch as about six men in our age group start to quickly make their way toward the far side of the caves. Levi makes his way over to his Dad. There is a bit of nodding and head shaking. Mac turns
Possible Trauma TriggersAlpha Shane POVLeaving the kids, yes I know that they are not kids. They are all in their early to mid-twenties they are adults, but they are still our kids. And no matter how old they get we will always want to protect them even more so with being their Alpha. I am starting to have a much better understanding of how my Father had felt over the years. Anyway, we left them in the room to wait for the other two to wake up. The rest of us and some of the Council members have returned to the packhouse to review some of the things we gathered from the Four Corners site. The offices by the caves contained a ton of files, some from the corrupt Council members and some from this other person who took over from them. Some of the files are dated back before the attack like way back. We haven’t found anything about who was keeping them originally but we have been able to figure out that it was Jake and Bruce who had taken over some of the goings on when the Council left
April POVAfter all the hugs and 'Are you OK' questions are done our parents get ready to head back to the packhouse to start wading through all the files and books that were brought back from Four Corners. Before closing the door Uncle Shane turns to us. “When those two are discharged I need the group of you to join us there is a lot to go through. The fact that I saw our pack’s name on a couple of the files isn’t sitting right with me. We need to figure out what these guys were planning and who all is involved.”“I can go with you now.”“No, you were in that cave collapse too, rest for a bit. The doctor already said they were only going to keep them in here until they wake up because the bones will be fine on their own with the braces on.” Uncle Shane says. “We’ll see you guys in a couple of hours.”As soon as the door was closed I grabbed Levi’s arm and pulled him over to the chairs making him sit. “What the hell happened? Why do our mates look like that?” I say swinging my arm out
Meg POV“Levi you can’t go running off. Wait for the rest of us.” I hear Dad yelling as we approach the packhouse. I can see Levi heading towards the tree line holding one of the specially made backpacks we use for carrying supplies in wolf form.“I’m not waiting. I need to get to her now.” Levi yells back. “It won’t take me that long to get there.”“Use your fucking brain boy I taught you better than that.” At Dad’s words, Levi stops in his tracks and turns back to face Dad. Dad lets out a sigh as to walks over to Levi and in a calmer voice says. “I understand that you are worried but you can’t go off running back to Twin Moon. Wait for the rest of us. We are taking the chopper back. You will get there sooner and you won’t be worn out from the run.”“But Dad I need…” Levi starts.“I know son. She’s special to you.” Dad says putting his arm around Levi’s shoulders and steering him back into the packhouse.I look at Quinn who is on crutches that he was instructed to use for the rest of
Kyle POVIt has been about two weeks since we arrived and started digging through all the files and books left behind. Mona has been pouring over all of it. When we first arrived I was in a bit of a panic but Alpha, I mean Uncle Shane helped calm me down. I had gotten myself all worked up on the helicopter ride here over what Councilwoman Brenda had said. She had told me that I was in charge since it was my territory by birth. I was not comfortable with that. I hadn’t grown up like the twins, Quinn or Levi, learning how to run a pack. I grew up learning how to hunt werewolves not be one. I had been so close to telling her to send someone else when Uncle Shane asked if he and Mona could join us. I had almost dropped to my knees in a praise of thank yous. By the knowing look on his face, he had been able to tell that I was on the verge of panicking. But even knowing that they were going to be here hadn’t helped stop my mind from running amuck. I don’t know what made them think that I co
