Avery POV

* * * * * * * *

I stared at him as he was holding the pen and writing notes, his eyes moving as he read through the history book and his tense jaw biting together as it does when he is focused.

The love of my life. The only man I had been with for the past 3 years, the only man I would ever want until the day I died. Liam Wass and I had gone through everything together, through hell and love, and we were stronger than ever.

I knew it sounded weird considering I was only eighteen and hand't experienced much, but somehow, I knew that he was the one.

His blue eyes making me melt every time he looked at me and the feeling I got through my entire body when he touched me, a feeling of happiness and joy. I could never wish for more.

I tore my eyes from him unwillingly and stared at the books in front of me. I wanted to pass the exam that's coming up in a month. It was my dream education taking me towards my dream job.

Avery the engineer, it did have a nice ring to it, and I wouldn't stop until I had made it my reality. I went over to the fridge as the floorboards made a squeaking sound. Our house was quite old. The dark-colored wooden floors made sounds whenever it was stepped on, the walls had tapestry of the same color, and the kitchen was big with a fridge and freezer beside each other. On one side, we had the sink that was pitch black, and on the other, a big desk that went all the way to the window by the wall. Three cupboards over the desk that reached as far as the desk did, also made of wood. I guess my parents had a taste.

As I opened the fridge to pull out a soda, I jumped in shock at the sound of a ringing phone. It was Liam's.

”Yes? I understand, I'll be home in ten.”

Liam turned to me, his face constorted in distress and told me that it was his mom, he had to get home right away.

”Is everything okay?” I asked with worry spewing out in my words as I stepped towards him.

”Everything’s fine, my mother just wants to talk, I'll call you later. I love you, babe.” Liams eyes were a tornado of emotions at all times. He could rarley lie without his eyes giving him away and right now they were filled with sadness and worry.

He gave me a quick kiss and then rushed out, leaving all his books and grabbing nothing but his bag.

"Love you too," I said to the nothingness in front of me.

I couldn't help but worry that something was wrong. His family had become like my own, and my family the same for him.

I shook all the negative thoughts out of my head, knowing he would call me later and explain. I gathered the books and placed them on the side table next to the door, and I cleaned up in the kitchen where we had been studying and threw a glance at the clock—7 pm.

I had time for a walk before my parents came home. They were both at work and didn't finish until 9 pm.

I grabbed my beige trench coat hanging by the door and took my keys from a silver bowl on the table in the hall. We were all experts at losing keys in this family, so they were to be put in the bowl so that if we lost our keys, it would be because we hadn't put them where they should be whenever we got home. I opened the door and looked over the pathway leading up to our house.

There were flowers planted along the path in all different colors, and on each side of the path, there was grass all around the house. I remember running barefoot there as a child and kicking ball with my father, and we also had a trampoline for my little sister. Jasmine was eight years old, a beautiful and strong little girl. Her hair was as white as snow, just like our mothers, and her eyes blue like the ocean. She was strong for her age and always stood up for the weaker ones, and I couldn't have been more proud.

Our relationship wasn't like other siblings, though, we weren't very close. Neither was my relationship with my parents. I somehow always felt like an outsider looking in when being with my family.

I locked the door behind me as I preceded down to the fence. The fence went all around the house, and when I was younger, my mother told me it was there to keep evil out. Now that I'm older, I realize that if evil wanted to, evil could just jump over the fence, but nothing had ever happened, so I'm guessing the belief that it protects us did something.

I opened the fence and started walking down the road, down to the small little town square we had. We lived in a small village with no more than a few hundred people, everyone knew each other, and around the village there were miles and miles of forest. All children were forbidden from going into the woods from a young age, as it was very easy to get lost and not find your way back.

Children from eighteen and up, however, were allowed to roam around wherever they pleased.

I had a road I always took when walking at night, it was alongside the small river and led almost all the way to the square.

I had been walking for twenty minutes when I reached the town square, I felt the shivers starting too creep up on my arms from the cold breeze. As I walked around the alley of a few farmhouses, I saw two people going at it. The man lifted the woman and pushed her against the wall. As he kissed her neck violently, I could see I recognized the man. He took his hands and ran them over her body as she wraped her legs around his waist.

I wanted too look away, too not be some creeper that watched other souples getting hot and heavy but something had me intrigued, there was something familiar about them.

And then, as he lifts his head and locks eyes with her, I see now why I recognized him.

It was Liam

My Liam.

The man I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with was vigorously kissing and touching this other woman. As I saw him take his hand and slip it under her shirt, I broke. I could physically feel my heart bursting into a million pieces, only to be repeated over and over again, as if someone was yanking a hold of my heart and squeezing the life out of it.

I didn't know what to do. I froze, unable to move.

I forced my feet to lift off the ground, and I started to run. I ran as fast as I could, never stopping, not once.

I found myself running into the woods, and I didn't stop, not until I could no longer feel my legs, until they could no longer bare to hold me up, and then I fall to the ground. I leaned my back to a tree and started crying, more than I ever had in my entire life, and I couldn't stop. After what felt like an eternity, I layed down on the ground and curled my legs up to my chest.

My body jumped up and down from the sobs that I tried to contain and I laid like that until there were no more tears to cry and my body had gone numb, only then did I feel my head growing heavy.

I felt the sun on my skin, and my eyes were squinting as the beams were getting stronger.

”MOM, close the drapes!” I moaned as I turned to shield my face from the sun.

And then I feel it, the leaves under my hands, the sticks beside my head, and I slamed my foot against the trunk of the tree I had leaned against last night. I jumped up in a panic as I realized I was still in the woods. I had fallen asleep here last night.

I looked around the room to see what she was talking about and then I saw him, a big muscular man leaning towards the wall with a drink in his hand. He was quite far away so I couldn't see all that well but from what I did see, he looked like a god. His arms were big and muscular, and they made it look like the long-sleeved shirt he was wearing was about to rip open, his chest was out as if he was on his guard, and I could see his hair flowing from the wind let in by the open doors. I gently looked away from him and walked with Lydia to the bar. We each got a glass of red wine, and then we stood there looking over the crowd. The people were already wasted, dry-humping each other on the dance floor to some 80's rock music. Down by the corner, a few frat guys were doing a keg stand. In my opinion, it's really inappropriate considering this is quite a

When Amber and James returned, we met them downstairs. Amber looked in awe as Malia walked toward her. Alex and his mate came down the stairs, he was holding Isabella and all three of them looked amazing.Alex had taken his role of uncle as an absolute. There wasn't a day that had gone by without him holding her or making sure that she was alright. No one else had been able to hold her, nobody outside the family, he and James were very alike in that aspect. Very protective.”You look beautiful,” Amber said breathlessly as she wrapped her arms around Malia.I bit my bottom lip and hooked my arm with James’s.We walked to the clearing where Lisa, Jackson, Trisha, Raven, Lucas Lydia, and Micheal were waiting. Amber wiped away a tear as she saw what we had done.”Oh wow,” Amber said.”It looks amazing,” James whispered in my ear. Malia guided Amber onto the cliff and grabbed her hands. ”There is nothing I can say that will ever measure up to how I feel about you, but I promise to show

1 week later. A week had gone by since the war, Amber had adjusted quite well to the life of a vampire. The one thing that had been the hardest and continued to be was the fact that Stella was gone. Amber told me how she sometimes tries to communicate with her wolf but then remembers that she’s alone, there's no one in her mind anymore. I know the feeling, I had only had Xena for a few months and had gotten so used to having her there, the biggest difference was however the fact that I got my wolf back, Amber wasn't going to get Stella back. She had nailed almost every vampire ’super power’ there was, including speed, coercion, healing, and strength.Amber was now the one teaching Lucas, who wasn't as thrilled that the student had become the teacher but he seemed happy nevertheless with the bond he had created with Amber. Damien, my brother, had grown close to Alex, the two were running together, playing pool, and whatnot. Alex and his mate seemed inseparable and the big red bite

”I killed my mother, not because of what she had done to me but because I knew what she would do to you. You’re my family, this, these people, you’re all my family. When he hurt you on the field, he sentenced you to death and I couldn’t…I couldn't let you die, so instead, you were turned. We can't be without you, Amber, nobody here can. Your brothers-” She said and Amber's eyes shakily found her brothers. ”-They need you, you three are what’s left of your family and they wouldn't survive without you. Nobody would. Maybe turning you was selfish, because we wanted you to live, but letting you die wasn't an option.” Malia said sternly and let go of Amber's hand. ”So, this will take time and it will be painful and hard but we will get through this. We will help you, Raven will help you adjust to this new life but in the meantime, nobody is going anywhere. We are all here with you,” Raven cleared her throat. ”I actually have to go back, I do have my own responsibilities in my clan,” she

Raven squatted down next to Amber and cleared away her hair from her neck. She lowered her head, her fangs extended, and just as she was about to bite into Amber's neck, her eyes rose and she looked up at James through her lashes. She then punctured Amber's skin, sinking her fangs into her flesh and releasing the poison. When Raven pulled back, we were all standing and watching them. ”Now what?” I asked when she stood again. ”Now we wait for her to die.” Raven said and wiped her mouth with her thumb then sucked the blood off it. I winced and Lydia hulked.”What? I'm a vampire, remember,” she said and rolled her eyes. Raven didn't feed on humans, only blood bags so this must’ve been euphoric for her. I walked to the pool table and placed my hands on the surface, leaning back against it. I wasn't going anywhere, not until we found out how Amber would be.She'd wake up, but as a vampire, everything would be different. Werewolves are taught to hate vampires. Always have been, and pro

We were heading home to the pack house, I was holding our child and James was walking beside me. It didn't feel real, I didn't know when reality would hit and this would feel normal, perhaps it never would but nevertheless, we had created a life. As we walked into the house it was quiet except for some hushed whispers. We walked into the common area and saw everyone in our family sitting around, waiting.Amber was the first one to come up, she covered her mouth with her hands and looked down on the baby. ”Oh my goddess, you made this,” She said in awe. I laughed and James smiled. Amber held her in her arms and Alex came up to meet his niece.”What’s her name?” He asked. I looked at James.”Isabella-” I said. ”Isabella Lilly Knight.” Alex and Amber both looked at us. Amber gazed at her brother, wiping away a tear.”Your sister and our mother.” She said and nodded her head before watching Isabella again. ”It’s perfect,” she said. ”We never truly met, I'm Chelsea,” It was Alex’s

I didn’t look at James, I already knew the death glare he was throwing Williams way and I didn't want him to see the fear in my eyes. I kept my gaze locked on William, he wasn't bothered by James in the slightest. Both me and James knew that this had to be done, there was no other way and if going through this pain was what I had to do to save my baby girl, then I would and I knew that deep down James did too. I heard a low growl, one that turned all heads to the Alpha. ”It’s okay, James, you know it is,” I said quietly and looked at him. His jaw was clenched and his eyes were hooded but a slight nod, one so small that I would've missed it if I hadn't looked carefully, said everything I needed to know. ”Let’s do this,” I said and looked at William. His gruff expression didn't change, his head was still lowered, his eyes looking up at me through his lashes and his long hair fluttered in the breeze.William closed his eyes, he inhaled, his chest rising and his head lifted. He opened

I felt the power surge through me, having to push away the thought of what the magic was feeding off. ”I’m so sorry,” I whispered to my baby. I felt my hands heating up, reaching my fingertips and I placed them over his heart. The darkness was consuming, it embodied me and I allowed it, allowed it to take whatever it wanted as long as it brought me back my brother. ”Look,” Amber whispered through her tears to Raven. My eyes were closed but I felt it, I felt his pain, his life, his threads of existence and I healed it. I heard a breath and felt his heart beginning to beat slowly, his blood circling, and then I opened my eyes. Alex was watching me with hooded eyes, his shaking hand came up and his fingers wrapped around my hands, squeezing them tightly.I cried even harder. ”You promised you wouldn't leave me again,” I cried and saw how the tears fell from his eyes.Alex's lip tugged upwards but he didn't have the energy to fully smile. I drew the fire and had it circling us all, the flames were cutting into thin air and moving vigorously around the enemies. With one hand I raised a shield over Amber and Malia and urged Alex to get himself and his mate behind it. But he was hurt, Alex was still bleeding and his face had turned pale and his lips were blue. Raven saw what I tried to do and with her speed, she grabbed Alex and placed him by his sister and then his mate. I held up the shield but Nicholas looked awfully cocky. Something I didn't like. ”You think you’re the only witch around here?” He asked and brought forward a man, long white hair, obsidian eyes, and an altogether dark expression. He raised his hands, circling them before pushing them up against the sky. The flames were uncontrolled, they were slashing at everything, including my own people. One of the flames cut through the shield and I heard Alex scream. It had hit his mate, her face was burnt.I circled my hands again, regaining control but only f
