As Catherine ran with her head down, she suddenly collided with something solid. Upon closer inspection, it was a man’s chest. She looked up, and what greeted her was a gentle smile.

"The rain is so heavy. Why didn’t you wait inside the restaurant? You might catch a cold."

Catherine rubbed her eyes and looked at Michael. He was six-foot-three, and she only reached his chest, making it seem as though she was cradled within his embrace.

"Why are you here?" Catherine asked.

At that moment, the cold wind mixed with rain hit her, and already soaked to the bone, she shivered unconsciously. Michael quickly draped his coat over her and pulled her into the car, turning up the heat a bit before saying:

"I heard from Emily that your ex-husband's people forced you to attend his engagement party, so I drove over. I was just about to come in and look for you when I saw you running out in the rain."
